Ok.,... So,..I am determined for Mr Rafferty (7weeks) to be in MCN's, but I think I am doing something wrong. Every time I put him in one (Peapods and the likes), the first wee that he does soaks straight through and down his leg:cool:,. they seem really fitted around his legs,...but he ends up soaking wet after his first wee,.... am I doing something wrong???
Help!

Are the inserts put in properly, as in nice and flat??? Or maybe they need some more washes to get max absorbancy?? In saying that i always found pea pods to leak on me no matter what, i am not a fan. Maybe try some liners?

i have never used peapods.
what are the inserts ? (bamboo/hemp/microfiber)
have you pre washed them to build the absorbency ? (for hemp or bamboo)
what are you washing them in ?
ummm..wheat else could it be.....
oh, what are you stuffing with ? as in how many layers of what ?

Yep keep washing those inserts !
They need at least 6 washes & dont reach maximum until 12 usually ....
On another note ive heard a lot have trouble in regards to Pea Pods not being overly absorbant.
If your little guy is a wee'er like mine then you need heavy duty stuff lol.
An option might be to put some microfibre on top of the bamboo so that its closer to R so that when he wee's it grabs it fast enough. Sometimes the bamboo & hemp cant grab it fast enough if they are super heavy duty wee'ers !
Try out some GK's or CK's ;)

 *scratches head*... a bit random (maybe in another thread???
I agree about doing some more washes with the nappies to increase the absorbancy. I do have a nappy (not peapods) that leaks something shocking, but it's because the leg doesn't roll in properly IYKWIM & the waterproofing doesn't cover, so leaks out the side.... not sure what peapods are like so if this could be the same type of thing???

You can just get microfibre cloths from a $2 shop to add to your bamboo and they should do the trick!
GK's - Green Kids (love 'em!! highly recommend!)
Not sure on CK's - Cherubs Kiss maybe?
Just thought I'd add, with all that pre washing, you can just keep washing, no need to dry inbetween.

As Jem said you can hit up a cheapie store or Big W they are the in the cleaning sections.
Otherwise when you check out Green Kids online you can get them there too they are a thicker version that fit the nappy.
CK's are Cherub's Kiss ... Divine divine divine !
Not sure what bricks & mortar stores have in the Syd area but if you are at the Syd meet at DH next week then I shall be around & more than willing to show off my range of various nappies !

S_J_R Are you washing with fabric softener?? Fabric softener can make them less absorbant (remembering some detergents have it included now) . I find it helps if I just place them in the laundry sink with warm water and leave them over night before washing them for absorbancy purposes. Also make sure you are folding them so there is at least 3 layers making sure that you push them allll the way to the front to cover their boy bits :D
DH likes the peapods best and DS is a big wee'er and we find them pretty good. Infact I think the bamboo is the most absorbant and long wearing the only issue is they take ages to dry because of how thick they are

I use the bamboo peapods and haven't really had a problem with regards to what you've described. Only suggestion I can make is to give them a few washes and a line dry if you can to get them nice & crunchy. Don't use any detergent, just hot water.
