Hi
What could it mean?
When I give Taylah her bottle, she doesnt really want to drink it. She tries to pull the bottle out of her mouth with her hands and/or pushes it out with her tongue. When i take the bottle away she screams, but as soon as I give it back she pushes it away again...
She is 20 weeks, hasnt had any solids, and has 5/6 bottles of formula. Each bottle is made to about 170ml, she used to finish just about every bottle, but now only has 1/2 to 3/4
is she teething? How long has she been doing it?

You may find its teething but you may also find she is cutting down on having as much as she used to.
But it does sorta remind me of bubs when he is teething as he refuses anything near his mouth so tends not to eat or drink much for a few days
Remember that she wont let herself starve but if you dont feel right about it a trip to the doctors wont do any harm.
Good luck !

Do you still have a slow flow teat? The slow flow may be frustrating her.

She has had the cross cut teats since i started her on the bottle which was about 11 weeks ago, because she was gettig frustrated with the slow ones

I was about to say the same thing...maybe the teat is too slow for bub and she is getting frustrated. My DD does this from time to time...I'm not really expecting her to get teeth for a while yet, (DS got his first ones at 17mths old), so I look for other reasons for her to be getting frustrated/refusing bottles.
What bottles/teats are you using? Maybe you could get a needle and poke an extra hole in one of the teats and use it for her next feed and see if that helps. It's a bit tricky to do this with the orthodontic teats tho.

Oh the cross cut teats were a life saver for us also !
Bubs started on them from around the 6wk mark as he was such a big bub & hungry as anything so had no patience whatsoever !
That being said you could maybe try a little farex on a spoon if she rejects it she is not ready or could even try a little in her bottle.
Yes i know it goes against what is recommended these days but its what i did with bubs from very early on again because he was so big & we havent looked back !
Again i still think it sounds like teething as you said Taylahsmum & dont stress too much your doing a great job im sure ! Being a first time mum is hard work & im often pulling my hair out ! There is only so much we know or understand about these little creatures but all i can say is go with your gut ... If it feels right them it will be right :D

ok cool thanks allyoo, :) having an idea of whats going on makes the situation easier to deal with. We were going to try some farex tomorrow, so we will still go with that.
And we will just wait for those nasty but cute teethy pegs to pop up :fingerscrossed:
thanks again
and by the way... :bday: for yesterday
