Hi everyone
I am not TTC, but would just like to know for the future. I'm from Gatton (between Toowoomba and Brisbane) and we will be here forever as DP's Family business is here....anyway
Do you have to live in Brisbane to use the public hospitals to have bub..I know that if you're private, you can have them where ever..But just not sure about Public??
:detective: Just wanted to know :detective:

I don't think you have to live in Brisbane, but I'm not 100% sure. You could ring and ask :)

Hi Bindi, I'd be surprised if you had to live in Brisbane to use hospitals here. I'd be interested to know if you find out the answer though!

I live in Beaudesert Shire and went all the way to the Mater Mothers to have both of mine with no problems. I have heard people say that at certain hospitals they were out of the 'zone' that the hospital covers. I never had a problem though.
The only thing is that the hospitals after care services don't extend to me, so the midwife won't come and visit etc, that's fine for me though.

Most hospitals are sturggling to cope with the excess of babies being born at the moment and as such as starting to close their books. that means that if you aren't in their "catchment" zone they are able to turn you away. there are obvious exceptions to that in cases of baby needing to go to a bigger hospital ect but it is a general rule now that you need to live in that area.
