View Full Version : Ideas wanted for a 7yr old birthday party PRETTY PLEASE :)
Well as the title suggests im am trying to organise my daughters birthday party she is turning 7 and i have no idea what to do ! :hair:
she wants to go to an indoor play centre but that is way to expensive for us at @17.90 per child
so anyone got any suggestions on games, places etc to keep it on the cheap side but still be a great party
I also dont want the party to be at my house, we do have a decent backyard but if the weather is **** my house is to small to cram everyone inside
TIA

:iagree: with Jasmine lots of community halls only charge a couple of bucks an hour. We had our wedding reception in the local community hall and it cost us $50 for the whole day.
We made it all pretty and it had a full kitchen it didn't look anything like a community hall when we were done with it.
For a 7 year old Girl the first thing that came to mind was a disco.
Hire a space, see if you get a few Christmas lights and get someone you know to DJ.
Then have dance offs and teach the kids the old classics: chicken dance, nutbush, Mexican hat dance, heal and toe polka
Let me think and I'll post some more ideas later.

call local dance schools and see if they will help you and you might be able to use their hall.
We went to a party recently at a dance school..disco lights and limbo!
Have it in the afternoon and supply afternoon tea of pink cupcakes, fairy wands ( breadsticks dipped in pink icing and hundreds and thousands.) etc etc...

We had dds party at home, we have the space though out in the garden :) maybe you could do similiar to what we did, even though she was turning ten it was a hit with the younger kids too. Basically work out a few landmarks in the garden (lemon tree, clothesline, cubby house, swing set, tap, hose, back door, chair, gates etc just to name a few) I ended up sticking an envelope with a clue at each point with each of the childrens names on it, so they all got a go. At the end there was the pinata, they knew we were having one but the fact they had to finish all the clues was a hit and it made half hour go really quickly too! We had things such as, Ok start at the clothes line Bob reads whats in the envelope, it sais "where does water come from" (tap) hop on one leg to this point. Bob had to hop to the tap where he found another envelope with say Lillys name, lilly had to read the clue and it had something like "where do you keep pegs" ride the bike there"
If you get the jist it was alot of fun and they had a ball! Even my 3.5year old enjoyed it, she just needed someone to help her read her clue.

Games - My sd loved pin tail on the donkey (though the picture was of her in donkey pose & friends had to pin tale on her!) Also she had a treasure map game where people had to guess where the x on teh flip side was...I drew the map up and put heaps of different places (ie grottos, castles, etc on it)
We hired a lady to do beading jewellery with them...but cant remember who or how much...got her through googling...but wasnt too expensive...
Armadale fairy place very very reasonable...something like 140 for 10 and everything including invites included...

PB, sounds llike a fun game (That I may just have to borrow the idea for when DD1 is 10 next year! ):D thanks!
As the other ladies have said, check with the local community halls.
Games - pending on what she likes, for DD1 when she turned 5 her party was a princess themed (her choice) where they pinned the tiara on the princess.
The basics, pass the parcel, we did an egg and spoon race (crazy with a bunch of 5yo) and we had a pinata.

I found having the kids parties at a local park great The kids are so busy running around playing together they dont think of games and often dont want to stop for them if you organise some its not often you get to go to the park with a bunch of school friends. Also pinatas are great fun and easy to make yourself to or you can pick them up at Big W or spotlight. Throw a heap of food on a table or a rug and let the kids run wild :smiliedance:
