Hello there my nine month old ds has been sick with the flu and has a middle ear infection and has been on antibitoics for the past two weeks. I was in the chemist yesterday and was told that after he has finished his antibiotics to give him some inner health powder for about a month. She said it will boost his immune system up again. Just wondered if any other parents have used this.

Infants guts' do not contain acidophilous, so you would have to obtain an infant probiotic which only has bifidus. I use NeoCare.

I am not going to say the Dr is wrong, but my naturopath told me that babies do not make acidophilous, so it is pointless to give a supplement. My two year old is still on the straight bifidus one that I get from the naturopath dispensary. I can ask her if it will do any harm, but I doubt it. I think the main thing is that there is not much point in supplementing with something that the body does not make yet anyway.

I just checked with naturopath, she said an acidopholous supplement will not do any harm, but will not be doing anything useful either... I asked if there would be any reason a Dr would recommend it and she pretty much said that the Dr may not have known that infants need the bifidus one. She said that children do not need to be on combined probiotics until about three or four years old.
The one she has Bridie on is 'Phytocare' brand, called 'Neocare'. Available at pharmacies. Hope that helps!
