Hi,

I 21y.o Amye, mum to 14month old Elliot. We are on our way up to Townsville in the new year... you will have to give me some pointers on Townsville as this is our first posting together and neither of us have ever been there.

Drop me a line, and we can chat.

Hi Im currently living in the UK with my husband and 2 young children. My husband is currently serving in the UK Navy and is looking to transfer to the Australian Navy. I would love to hear from navy wives who have children to find out what life is like in the navy on the other side of the world. My husband works on helicopters and at the moment is front line so has been away every two months for 9 weeks at a time since my boy was born 3 years ago which was very hard even with family and friends around. I would love to move to Australia but am worried about being on my own with the children, is there a good naval community in areas like Townsville and Nowra?:ecomcity:

Hi girls,

I have an 8 month old and one on the way! I grew up in Nowra (as did my DH) and we met and married there.

My DH is in the Army and we moved up here to Sydney in December last year. My DH is discharging in December this year and we are moving back down to Nowra again for good.

Anyway, I would love to meet up with some other mummies once we get back down there... Nowra is a wonderful place, the beach is close and your nestled at the bottom of the mountains on the Shoalhaven River.

Hopefully we'll meet up at the end of the year!

Hi UK Mummy

Hi Im currently living in the UK with my husband and 2 young children. My husband is currently serving in the UK Navy and is looking to transfer to the Australian Navy. I would love to hear from navy wives who have children to find out what life is like in the navy on the other side of the world. My husband works on helicopters and at the moment is front line so has been away every two months for 9 weeks at a time since my boy was born 3 years ago which was very hard even with family and friends around. I would love to move to Australia but am worried about being on my own with the children, is there a good naval community in areas like Townsville and Nowra?:ecomcity:

Whist my husband is in the Australian Army, My father was in the Australian Navy, so i have grown up in that environment, i lived in Nowra for several years, and there was a very close knit Navy community at that time, there is alot of support available to Australian Defence families if you actively search for it. Whilst i am slightly biased, i think Australia is the most spectacular country in the world and i am sure you would love it here. Whilst you will arrive with no friends, i am positive you will quickly make friends, as in general us Aussies are a pretty friendly lot:D

I believe there is a very large Defence community in Townsville also, and whilst it is stinking hot, its a pretty great place to live, you cant get much nicer than Far north Queensland!!!

I believe there is a large push by our Defence department at the moment to poach people from the UK navy! so if you would like anymore info on that pm me and i can try to get some for you. I would think though that with Australia trying to encourage others to CONVERT that there would be measures put in place to support their families once relocated.

Anyway goodluck, hope you decide Australia is the place for you and your family

 Belinda
