I need to increase the fibre in my 2.5yo's diet. Does anyone have any hi fibre lunch ideas? She's usually a good eater.

Thank you

Switch to hi-fibre bread, ie wholemeal. This is beneficial for the whole family.

Have fruit after every meal. Limit fruit juice intake (or just stop offering it at all) because a piece of fruit has fibre in it, whereas the juice of a fruit has very little fibre.

Have a look at this webpage; in fact the whole site is really good IMO! :D

I agree on the bread. But we have gone one step further and our 2 year old eats mulitgrain bread, no fibre problems there trust me!

Yes, I agree with Chelle - Multigrain is even better!
My daughter has always loved multigrain bread over just plain brown bread.

Might have to try that trick too...

I agree with using wholewheat or wholewheat with grain bread, and fresh fruit instead of fruit juice. You could also try multi grain cereals for breakfast.

If you do any baking then you can substitute wholewheat flour for some of the plain flour. Usually 1/4 to 1/2 of the flour can be substituted depending on the recipe. So wholewheat pancakes or pikelets for breakfast, snack or part of lunch are an option (grate in zuccini or carrot too).

Thanks, we use wholemeal bread. I have a bread maker and have been reading the labels to see what has more fibre. I noticed that the hi-fibre bread mix had less fibre than wholemeal, so I've been making wholemeal. Next time I go to the store I'll double check that.

I give her fruit juice because I notice when she doesn't have much liquid she gets consitpated, But I will definitely try giving her more fruit.

Thank you for your ideas, will check out the websites people have given me.
