Birth Centre Question

hi, ok im pg again ds is only 4 months old and i just found out im about 5 weeks pg, so its a close pregnancy, the thing is though i want to again have this baby at the birth centre , but upon researching close pregnancies i have com up with the possibility of complications, so my question is will my birth centre still accept me as a patient, or will i have to go to the dreaded hospital?

I think that really depends on the Birth Centre. You should just contact them and book in since they are often hard to get into. I'm sure they have their policies but more than likely would take you on and then ship you across to the labour ward if complications arise.

But I didn't realise close pregnancies meant a likelihood of complications..? :confused: Why is that?

Of course the other possibility is a homebirth. :thumbsup: I'll be doing that next time. No worries about conforming to dreaded hospital policy and since you're an old hand at this childbirth thing, you should have no problems at all. :)

Hi Angel_one, give your birth centre a call and find out. Its the only way to know for sure. If they do have a problem, you can always look at a private midwife and homebirth as an option if you really dont want a hospital birth though I wouldn't think there would be any issue with the birthing centre if your last birth was a normal vaginal birth.

well, i have to get a due date before i can book in (got to get a scan for that! lol) and im not for the home birth anymore, as this last baby had to be in the special care nursery for his first 30 hours, and i like the idea of the hospital being there just incase!, i guess i'll just have to keep my fingers crossed that i can get in , and if all else fails, i'll try and sweet talk one of the midwives into being at the hospital with me if i neeed to be there (im sure i know one of them would do that) i guess i'll just have to see, but in the mean time i have to get to the doc to get the stupid referral for a scan! arrrrrrhhhhhhhh hey whens the earliest they can see bubs in a u/s???? i know i saw dd at 7 weeks 1 day! and by the time i get this scan i'll be that for certian!
