Hello.
I am wondering how long it was after caesarean that you started to do light exercise? Did you start with just a stroll around the block? How long did it take to build up to a jog? Can I lift some free weights just for my arms, while sitting?
I would love to know and get some pointers.

hmm I had mine 3 weeks ago and 3 days later I was doing short walks now I can do about 2-3kms they recomend you wait 12 weeks before you jog/run/weights etc....According to the excercise sheet they gave me!

I am going to start yoga hopefully around 12 weeks again :D

Hi Shannon,

I didnt do vigorous exercise for 8 weeks after my c/section, its normally 6 weeks or when you have your followup appt with your ob. Within that 8 weeks i only walked i didnt lift anything except for the twins but i took it easy. I didnt even lift the pram to put it in the car i got my hubby to do that Its important not to strain yourself as you can do damage to your stitches. I am not sure about light weights ask your doctor about that.

My OB & physio advised no exercise including weights (as it can strain your abdo muscles) until after the 6 week check, then they would advise. However I did start walking (30-60mins daily) from 2 weeks onwards and from 12 weeks started doing aqua aerobics/swimming. Good luck with it, take it easy, listen to your body and be careful........its better to take it slow and delay exercising than to overdo it and then it will take longer to heal!!
