You might want to check out the Excema thread, some of those remedies might be suitable to try.

There are lots of fantastic natural ingredient based products out there but if it is still there after three weeks there is a good chance it is thrush. My DD had it and I couldn't for the life of me work it out. I ended up at the pharmacy to buy a cream with an anti-fungal base. Maybe you could take him into the pharmacy and show someone. They are a great alternative to going to a doctor for simple things and if they can't help they will point you towards a dr.:)

Do you use commercial wipes? They contain lots of nasty stuff, even the unscented ones. Maybe switch to a face washer for awhile, just with water, or with a bit of chamomile tea.

I just use a face washer, and carry a bottle of water and face washers with me when I go out (it's very easy...). The only time I use wipes are for number 2's, then I clean him up with a face washer anyway. I haven't had to use any creams for about a month.

I found the nappy rash cream made my Brauers & its my saviour before this i had no troubles with the curash cream but when bubs had a really bad rash a few weeks ago i tried the Brauers & it pretty much went to work straight away ! Tis all natural so doesnt have all the nasties the others have so is much nicer to use.
If it doesnt heal soon with these options everyone has given you i would take bubs straight to the doctor to get it checked out !
Good luck :)

Hi,

If he has had it that long and you are already using a barrier cream then it is most liekly Thrush, and changing barrier creams still won't help. careful not to leave it too long otherwise it can crack and bleed and make bubs really sore!

You will need to get a barrier cream with an anti-fungal like Daktazoin or similar.
I have used this on my DD and it only takes about 3-5 days to clear it up using at each nappy change.

I'm not sure if the Paw Paw ointment will help.

Make sure whatever you use you keep using it for a couple of days after the rash has gone otherwise it can come back quite easily.

Good luck!

The curash wipes - the blue pack (with sorbalene i think) are really good. EJ got thrush rash on her bum when she had an ear infection (stressed system or something - antibiotics can do it also) the doc basically diagnosed it cause said if rash (spotty) was in the bum crease mainly then it was thrush. He said put on a bit of normal thrush cream (caneston(sp?) or similar) that you'd buy for yourself - it cleared it up within a few days ((i used it morning and night on her)

The Amolin nappy rash cream is really good also
