First Id like to introduce myself my name is tarny Im new to bub hub. I have to boys aged 4 and 2. Both my sons have a language disorder. At one stage a health professional had concerns that my eldest son had autism. It wasnt a formal assessment so bascially I had to wait a year to get an answer it turned out that she was wrong, and that infact my son had a severe language disorder. I found this very frustrating the waiting around to get an answer but it was such a relief that he wasnt diagnosed with autism.( not that there is anything wrong with autism) My ds 4yrs also has behaviour issues, i consult with a paeditrician about these issues and he believes he is showing signs of adhd but he is to young to medicate so he wont assess him at this point in time. Basically I have to wait til his at full time school to get him formally assessed, and hopefully by then he has shown some improvement. My ds 4yrs is attending kindy now, so Im hoping the set rules and structure will calm him down, fingers crossed. Onto my ds 2yrs, I first had concerns that he had a language/developmental delay when he was 18months old, having the experience with my eldest son gave me the initiative to act early so I put him on the waiting lists as soon as I had corncerns he was following in his brothers footsteps. ds 2yrs is seeing a sppech pathologist now, he has improved socially in the last six months, his behaviour isnt as severe as his older brother, so time will tell I guess. I would love to hear from other parents with children with language/developmental delays, and parents of adhd children.

Hi Tarny, your doing a great job there with your two boys. Early intervention is always best no matter what the problem is. I had my dd2 dx at 5yrs and have been able to get lots of help. I'm now going through the process with my ds1, who is 8 nearly nine. He is too old for alot of the services now.:hair: Anyhow I hope you fid the support your looking for here. They are a great bunch.

hi tarny. welcome to bubhub. my daughter has a language problem...at the moment she is dx with a developmental motor incoordination syndrome by her neuro with affects her speech/chewing and walking coordination. she is also dx with an expressive speech delay. We are going private starting tomorrow for speech and we have been going public in the group therapy for her while as she is only two and a half and this is how they do it at that age. We are finding in the last few weeks that she is making some progress with the strategies we have learnt. Sometimes i question autism on a scale to her as well, but sometimes i wonder if it is dsypraxia. i have no clue...i am just clutching at straws under the frustration of it all to be honest. i really hope that you get the help you need and in the mean time, chat to us crazies on here...we all need venting lol.

thanx 4 da replies, i appreiciate it, i havnt been on here 4 a while as iv been very busy, stil new to this, but its an xcellent site. In the progress of tryin 2 get my ds 4 in to a speech and language program through kindy so :fingerscrossed: he gets in. Ds 4 had a sicologist visit him at kindy, her view was that ds 4 has a specific language disorder where he learns from observing, and acting things out, so lots of visual and modeling activities hav been taken place. Had an interview at a private school im intersted in getting him into the other day. omg he was such a  the school principle was very particular too which didnt help the situation. ds was very tired and would not listen to me or cooperate at all :hair:. Basically I didnt get an answer if he was accepted, I have to wait til there special ed workers visits ds at kindy and then they will have a better view if they can take ds on. Another waiting game :banghead:. Any behaviour strategies on a 4 year old who doesnt listen, thinks his boss would be awsome
thanks.
