View Full Version : Good childcare centres in northern Brisbane/regular meetings?
Hi, we have recently moved to Brisbane and I'm looking for a good childcare centre for my 7 month old daughter. I just want to put her in for one day a week at this stage so it doesn't come as a huge shock to her when I return to work part-time in January 2007. I was reading the other threads about childcare centres and it really is scarey reading about other people's experiences. I have seen a couple of childcare centres in the area, but were not that impressed with them.
Can anyone recommend a good childcare centre for a 7 month old in the northern suburbs of Brisbane? I live at Albany Creek but am happy to travel some distance to get her into a good centre, so anywhere in the northern suburbs would be great. Also, are there any "community not for profit" childcare centres in the area as I've heard they are often very good?
Also, are there any mums with babies of similar age that regularly meet up, or would like to meet up?
Many thanks
Nessa

Hi Nessa
My daughters go to Hutchison centre1 in Albany Creek. I find the staff there are lovely and my kids really enjoy going. It is in Dawn road just off Keong road. I would recommend this one.

the YMCA on Lutwyche road is community based. i got accepted into it but changed my mind at the last minute becasue it is in the middle of a very busy road and i just thought of all that road grit they would be breathing in all day. otherwise, the staff were older, which i loved and it looked ok, bit older than some others that i had seen, but i had a good feel about it, it was just its location. there is also a lutheran ran one in nundah. i have seen it but i can't remember much about it except i think there was longevity with the staff, which is always a good sign. i have the kids waitlisted there, but haven't rang back to check if i can get a spot because i got them in somewhere else, which i'm not going to recommend because the verdict is still out on how good it is.
i belong to a mothers group that is mixed age, the kids are from about 7 months upwards to 4. i'm pretty happy with it. its near clayfield ascot area. pm if you need more details. its a real mixed bag and i was unsure about it when i saw 4 year olds therre but actually its turned out to be great ...they all get on well with each other.

Hi, I've just started my 3yr old at Busy Bunnies At Everton Hills. I think they're just opened up a nursery so you could check them out. they're a fairly small centre and I would definitely recommend them.
I've also got a 5mth old if you wanted to meet for coffee one day??

Hey there! My darling daughter goes to Motherduck at Gaythorne, not too far from you anyway. They have a website and I find they have been fantastic in the two years she has been there, great staff, always improving, great feel to the centre and I totally trust them with her.
Good luck with Brissie waiting lists though. :-)
Windsor Neighbourhood Childcare Centre is very good. It is community based and my son went there. I was happy with the quality of care.
Thanks very much for the information, it's much appreciated. I'll check those out.
I'm keen to meet up for a coffee, what's the best way to arrange it?
