TMI!! WARNING!!!!
Ok, i am having a lot of trouble doing #2's.
It is painful and i dread the thought of the next one.:o:o It is that bad that i bled last time. :(:(
I need to know what i can take to help the situation and is safe to take while bfing. Can i take laxatives?
I was having the same thing happen about a month ago..
there is nothing thats safe while breastfeeding. but the chemist recommended 'drinking water like its going out of fashion' so i did, and it cleared within a few days and has been good since...

ouch willsmumma :hugs:
i wouldnt take any laxatives while im breastfeeding [almost 18 months now:bee:]....
there are lots of foods you can eat that will do the job naturally & therefore you will actually get some nutrition out of it for your body & be able to pass that on to bub too..
pears, prunes, rye bread, soy milk, dried fruits, bran [of course], almonds, coconut, barley, peas, beans, lentils... heaps of stuff.... & off course lots of WaTeR!!
[eta] cant forget the green leaves too!!!
and yes... i hear there are lots of bright packaged tins of 'fibre' too ;)

Oh gosh this is me too :o
Yep........extra water and extra fibre.
I've been using Metamucil powder and it has helped

Try making a batch of lactation boosting cookies ;) Not only will the help your milk supply - but they make you poop too :D
Also increase water and fibre intake - lots of fresh fruits and vegies.
Hope you're feeling better soon :hugs:

:yes::iagree:
what a doofus i am...
for some reason i didnt even mention the FRuiT!!!!
fruits are great because of the moisture -therefore hydration- & roughage content..
but i know from experience, MeloNs are some of the best...
if you can sit down an eat a good [over?] dose of watermelon/rockmelon etc.. might work wonders for you willsmumma..
berries arent bad either..
fresh made -combo- juices are great - if youre into that... you can wack heaps of rich liquid into you at one time!!
hope things get flowing for you & you feel better real soon :fingerscrossed:

Thanks so much for that. You guys are awsome.
I am going to increase my water (as i let it slow down a bit:o) and i am going to buy heaps of fruit today and eat it like it is going out of fashion.
Also i have to buy the ingredients for those cookies. I keep on forgetting to do it.

I just wanted to add: Fish Oil
It's the only thing that helps me. My naturopath told me that you know when you're taking the right dosage because you don't have to wipe (sorry if TMI).
In the last months of my pregnancy I was up to 6 capsules a day but now I'm back down to two a day. Brilliant! And of course lots of water and fruit are the best.

Get some wheathearts or wheat germ and sprinkle them on your food :) works a treat, i take it veryday and havent been constipated for a long time :)
You can take that benofibre too which works well and is safe (it even is good for food you cant taste it which is great)

Definately drink loads of water and make sure you don't eat too much of the processed foods. They will just clog you up even more.
