Hi,
For the last few hours my right breast has become really engorged and sore - have tried to get Shannyn to feed from it - she won't have a bar, and have tried expressing - nothing is coming out!! I have been massaging to no avail and am at my wits end - it is starting to really hurt  Does anyone have any other suggestions as to what I can do to help move the milk??
Would be much appreciated :yelclap:
Cheers, Skye

I dont know how old your baby is, but you could try laying her down on the floor or the bed and leaning over her to feed, some breast compression (squeeze your breast with both hands while she is feeding) might also help as will heat applied at the time of the feed.

Have a look at the end of your nipple and see if there are any white spots, you may have a milk bleb that could be blocking the duct also.

See how you go. Take some panadol for the pain.

Gossie has some great advice...as per usual:yes:
Also you could try getting in the shower and letting the hot water run on it and try hand expressing in there.
Hope you feel better soon.

She's 9 weeks Goosie, thanks for your advice, DH is due home soon, so I might have a nice hot shower when he can look after her. Fed just then, she took a little, but still really full - again nothing coming out when trying to express.
OUCH

Hows your attachment, Nice wide open mouth with chin burrowed into the breast? swollowing sounds, not clicking sounds?

Try not to massage your breasts in the shower as the combo of massage and hot shower increases the blood flow to the area and can make for venous engorement, can you take bub into the shower with you and feed, maybe a bath if you feel more comfortable?

Definately try a hot shower like the other girls said! It can work a treat. Just find the lumps and gently massage them out towards your nipple.
The other thing to try is heat up a washer (either with hot water or in the dryer) then rest it over your sore breast as you are feeding from it.
Another thing is - is it sore on one particular side or everywhere? If you lie your baby so their bottom lip is on the sore side. Their suck tends to be stronger on that angle.
