Hi
I don't use that formula, but I was told when DS was little that there was no need to change them onto the 6mths+ formulas and that he would be fine on the 'step one' formula (as some of them seem to be called), til he started cows milk. DS was on anti-reflux formula.

I went from SMA to S26Gold step 2 from a recommendation from a pharmacist friend.

Bubs is fine on it. Thriving actually. I am just starting to go onto cows milk now...

I used SMA from around 3 months and didn't switch to a "stage 2" formula until DD was well over 1 year old. I asked Ngala in WA about switching when DD was around 6 months and was told that it wasn't really necessary. So long as bub is eatting solids ok he doesn't need the extras that go into the stage 2 formulas.

SMA is made by Wyeth, who also makes the S26 ones. But it's an older formula. I've been told variously by nurses and CHN that it's a "heavier" formula and recommended sometimes for bubs who aren't filled up or satisfied by other formulas. I used it because DD had lost significant weight at around 7 weeks old and we wanted to get her weight back up quickly.
