need cicumcision info

ever since i feel pregnant ive been asking every doc and nurse i see where and how do i go about getting my son circumcised but no one wants to tell me. so now that my son is 16 months i've finally found a doc to do it but she tells me it is now considered cosmetic surgery and the total of the opperation and all the private hospitial fees will be $1600.0. so as you can imagine that has been a really depressing discovery and to top things off the tip of my sons penis has been looking really red and sore the past two weeks. i dont know if its from playing with it too much (TYPICAL MALE) or if there is an actuall problem. i live on the northern beaches in sydney so if there is anyone out there who can help me find a doctor who performs circucisions in this area , hopefully at a lower fee, i would give my right arm for the info. i am desprerate to get this op done before my little man turns two so he doesnt noticed whats going on or be traumaticed by the fact that mummy and daddy took him to the doctors to cut of his willy.
]im not interested in anyones opinions as to why i shouldnt get it done as ive heard more than enough in the past two years,

I don't have any referrals for you, but if he has a real medical problem, then the procedure won't be "cosmetic" and you prob would get some money towards it. I have a friend who has recently had a breast reduction and it wasn't "cosmetic" because she has had chronic backpain and headaches. She was refunded most of her money because a doc reffered her to the plastic surgeon.

So I think you're first step is back to a GP to check whether there really is a problem. If you get a referral from them, then it should be covered. You'll still have to find someone to do it though.

We didn't go through a hopsital we went through a doctor, but he is in Brisbane. Your GP may have a name for you?!
