I have my D&C followup apointment at the hospital at the end of may and wondered what it actually was for ??

will I be seeing a OB ? will i be examined? or will it simply be a 2 min apointment where they say r u physcially ok ? I say yes,... and thats the end of it ??

whats it all about?

I can't really help you brokendove, I've had 2 D&C's but I don't remember having a checkup afterwards, that was back in NZ so they may do things differently there, anyway I just wanted to say i'm sorry to hear about your loss, and to wish you all the best with TTC again

Brokendove- My follow up appointment after my D&C's are with the surgeon who did the D&C and it really is a 5 mintue appointment he just felt my stomach and felt inside sorry for TMI he also asked a few questions.
Has AF showed up, have you any pain , and are you bleeding still...
My 1st D&C i went on a weekly visit due to placenta been left behind this went on for 6 weeks until i had 2 D&C and than went 4 weeks later for the all clear to TT. This one it is four weeks after the D&C but i have been having regular visits to the gyno due to retained products again mad:
I am off to see the surgeon Friday week hopefully for a finally check up and the all clear to try againyippy..
I hope this helps and good luck..

thanks...

so basically there is no point waiting for that apointment to ask my questions then ?

Can I try to conceive before that though?? my OB said so.. but well iam confused ev eryone has so many opinions.

Iam driving myself nuts thinking thru things again and again.....

I had just gone for a shower and looking at myself in the mirror wondering how big I would be if I was still pregnant and realising how big I have got....

I put on 5kg whilst TTC (eating well, Iam a meal skipper) and then another 5 once pregnant.. and now it's all so wobbly and....

sigh..

I dont want to go back to my usual lifestyle as iam sure we will want to TTC within the next few months and I odnt want poor nutrition to be an added complication

any suggestions for this? or shall I just be fat and happy and TTC? worry abot the weight later ?

Hi brokendove- I can totally understand about the weight concern i was a very active person before my 1st pregnancy (M/C) as i have a horse that i used to show put once i found out i was PG i gave it up due to M/S and the risk of a fall i have now leased her out to a close friend to work and the weight and wooby bits have joined me.
I have just brought a bike and will start to ride this to keep that extra weight off and stay a a bit toned..
I was just waiting to feel better before strting the execrise
It's best to not put the to much weight on before TTC as in the long run it will take longer to get off..
As for when to start TTC again it is totally up to you but i would advice to atleast wait one cycle before TTC as that what i have been told to do...
I waited 6 months last time and still M/C so i now don't believe waitng longer is better and will TTC after my first AF has arrived..

I am physically ok.... not sleeping too well which is making a bit lathargic during the day but I work from home so thats ok.. though not much work is getting done.

but I still try to stay out of the shopping centers as they seem to be full of pregnant people...

its been 29 days since my D&C my cycle is normally 30 days but i guess its a whole new ball game this time.

I think when it comes I will feel relieved .... and ready to start TTC.. but thats just today... ask me again tomorrow.. lol

Thanks Livsmummy !!

Hi brokendove,
I know this is a late reply to this post, but I had a missed m/c 2 weeks ago today, with subsequent D/C the next day. I dont have a follow-up appt with my surgeon, and was just told to see my gp 1 week later for results of tests on what was removed during surgery- I went and she did not have the results yet. So I went again yesterday as I have been having some bleeding-was concerned re infection. My GP said it might be one of 3 things- my AF, which i doubt because the flow is different, my body getting rid of lining that was not removed during procedure- but I thought that was the point if the procedure, or beginnings of an infection ( I hope not)- and I was basically told to wait until after weekend and go back to GP if still bleeding next week. So it is very confusing, and obviously in diff states they do things diff.
Sounds like you are similar to me- my cycle is normally 30 days too- does your temp (if you take it) normally drop on day 16 to indicate O??
In terms of all your ?'s re nutrition, I think the best thing to do is eat healthy, avoid alcohol (which I have been doing since Nov 05 sigh!!) and exercise within your comfort zone- ie do some walking or bike riding, but dont be too worried about losing weight before you TTC- it does depend on much much you weighed before you got PG last time, as you may still be in your healthy weight range now- can you tell I work in a health field!!:ecomcity: :ecomcity: It may also help to take a women's or pregnancy multi vitamin with folate to make sure you are getting all the nutrients you need. Wishing you luck and:hugs: on your journey this month
xx Kylie

Hey all can any one help? A few people have said they have internals at their follow up appointments. Mine will be 8 weeks, post d and c, i'm concerned if i do fall pregnant and they do an internal they disrupt all our hard work;). Should i be concerned? Can my dr do it, anyone else preg at time of check up?

I had a check up basically mine was to discuss was i ok and plans for the next bub... I had an Ob the whole way so i guess it was just to see him and talk about injections i will need to take next time. Even when you have other surgery they want a follow up.

I have to get an internal scan when next pregnant that is quite common after M/C's so it wont disrupt any thing.

No internals etc for me when i had my check up....
