I am thinking of getting into trading shares and thought commsec could be a way to easily manage it myself.

Does anyone here trade on commsec? Would you recommend it to a first timer? What are the pros and cons? What are the costs(it's quite confusing from the website)? Anything I should be wary of?

Anyone use any other products for trading that they'd recommend?

Thanks in advance!

I used commsec right from my first trade. I found it very easy to use and it was the cheapest method that I found.

You need to decide what you want to buy and how much you want to pay then you just put in your order and wait for shares to come up at the right price.

I get a statement every ? I think it is 3 months... :o

I don't do a huge amount of trading though, just shares that I have bought in DD1s name so that she has got money to pay for her education.

Thanks Jane. Can you set a sell price as well? Next time I see you I might bombard you with some questions if you don't mind:o

yep, you set whatever the price is and the number that you want to buy or sell. when it hits that price they do your order. If you are buying then they will send you a notice when and how much you need to pay. It comes out of a bank account and I just need to make sure that there is enough money in that account.

I am happy to talk it over, but I am noooo expert :p
