Just wondering if one of you lovely girls can help me out as even though this is my 3rd baby girl I have never been really good on the whole BF thing but I'm determined to make it work this time

Starting from late yesterday afternoon my left breast has been quite sore and really stings when Lily is feeding. I can feel a lump which I have been massaging all day and had a nice warm shower this morning and gave it a massage then too which was relieving. My question is do you think it's a blocked milk duct????? I don't have any other symptoms so don't think it's mastitis.

I am continuing to feed her and hoping that's the best thing for it I guess to get her to drain it which she does just fine.

I expressed last night to see how much I was getting and I managed to express about 75ml out of both breasts. Does that sound right to you girls???

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks girls :flowerz:

Sounds like a blocked duct

Massage the breast right from the beginning down to the nipple, feed while massaging, massage in the shower, express and massage if you can, massage while in a hot bath. When feeding the little one, point her chin towards the lump so that the force of the suck will be directed that way. Also, apparently an electric toothbrush (or anything else that vibrates ... :D ) applied to the lumpy area can dislodge the proteins causing the lump.

If it persists for more than 48 hours or if you find and flu like symptoms, go to your GP as soon as you possibly can.
