I wouldn't take my son and he is 10months. But he is walking and he wouldn't stay still for 5 secs and far too noisy, Too many louts, drunkards and NZ is going to win anyway :D

i wouldn't because my DS, in the past when young, got upset at far less noisy environments, so it wouldn't have suited him. not sure how my DD would go though.
i went to a big xmas party and there were drunks and bands and loud music and people everywhere.... you couldn't hear yourself think. anyway , there were a young couple with a new born there all night in the thick of it, and i couldn't believe it. but , you know the way newborns can sleep through anything, the baby was probably fine and happy and well ....asleep. i was the one having the problem with it. lol.
maybe go and see how it goes and one of you leave if you have too.???
To be honest I wouldn't either. I would worry about projectiles, noise and just idiots in general. It would be horrific if a brawl broke out just near you or there were people throwing beer around. I just think these things just have the potential to be rough and get out of hand.
I went to a rugby union match last weekend (go the Western Force) and there was a little baby there, in a sling. Seemed very happy among 30 000 screaming fans. I guess it depends how your little one copes with noise, and whether they fit in a sling!

Is the rugby crowd similar to Afl crowds, We have taken Emmy to the AFL about 5 times now.
We took our 8mth old to the first Bronco's Cowboys game this season at suncorp and he lasted 30sec in the stands. The noise of the crowd all cheering at once was just too much for him. I spent the whole game up in the corrodors and the noise still freaked him out a bit up there. If your bub is used to that kind of noise then maybe ok my little one was just too freaked out  . good luck - we had to try as my hubby is a huge cowboys fan and I figured no harm trying.

thanks heaps guys for your replys i had the same feeling my son doesnt like sudden loud noises so probably best that we give it a miss thanks for your views much appreciated
I suppose it all depends on the bub and if you are sensible about it!
I was at the NSW v Brumbies match a couple of weeks ago, it was pretty darn cold and a couple had they're newborn there in nothing but a summery outfit.... now that was just plain wrong!
I wouldn't have a problem with it, but I guess it depends on how bub is in public crowded environments. We took our 10 month old to the ANZAC day march and she coped really well even with the jets flying over. She just sat on her daddy's shoulders and clapped and waved along with everyone else for 2 hours. But we had agreed before we went the if she cracked it, we were leaving asap.

To me I wouldn't have a problem with it, but like everyone is saying it depends on how bub is in a public crowded environment.
One thing that could work would be 'making' earplugs for bub.....there was an article in last weeks paper based on the noise level at a festivel (Byron jazz and blues I think...but really not too sure) and St Johns Ambulance were horriefied at the number of young babies there being submitted to the noise level...they cut an adult earplug in half, and then taped it to the bubs head so that they didn't have to be jammed into their ears........still doesn't stop riot/projectiles though :)
