Side effects on losec

Hi,

My bub is 10 weeks old and diagnosed with reflux about 6 weeks ago. He has been on losec now for two weeks after trying mylanta, thickening feeds and zantac all did not work. Since taking Zantac and now losec I have found that the reflux has improved however he seems to have excessive wind (flatulence) that constantly wakes him and he is fairly irritable. Not sleeping well during the day still! The paediatrician seems to think that the losec could not cause this but the product info says it can. The paed told me to try a LI formula and have done so with no change. Has anyone else had these problems? I am a new mum and this is all new to me....help!:no:

ARe you using the tablets or the suspension ( liquid ) ?

A lot seem to have problems with the tablets because of the coating ! My suggestion would be to ask for the script as a suspension ... Its much more expensive & doesnt last that long but its well worth it !

This is the only way Squeak can have the Losec & he needs it so we dont care what we need to pay !

My J has reflux and is on zantac he was also in hospital for an infection the nurse said they dont use mylanta any more as it makes the kids constipated....

I also use gripe water for pain also...

LI formula??? J is on LF whats LI???

Hi,
I spoke with a drug specialist and he suggested that I halve his dose the paediatrician had him on 10mls a day. They told me that the royal childrens hospital recommendation is 5mls only. I have been using tablets but if this doesn't work perhaps I will try the liquid. I did mean LF formula but it has not made any difference.

Every one kept saying Jarvis had reflux which he does but found out he had an infection also.. so we stopped zantac and now that he has antibiotics he is on the zantac again and it helps.. also found out that LF is on the PBS so if you can get it prescribed its more then half the price
