View Full Version : Any over 45 and not done yet??
I am 46..whoops no 47 :)I have 4 babes thanks to IVF and I still feel like I want one more. We have embryos "on ice" so I don't have to worry about my "old" eggs;) DH is half on board.
Am I the only nutter who is thinking about "just one more" and having a 2 yr old when I am 50?
Be gentle with me:thumbsup:

Firstly Donna..congratulations on your four. What ages are they?
As to more bubs..I too have four and am 45 but I really think I am done. My little fella is now 7mths and frankly I do get tired and find wakeful nights a bit of a hardship, although that gorgeous smile makes it all bearable:yes:.
Mine have all been naturally conceived so it is a case of saying: "Thanks God, but could you stop sending them now please?"..lol. My GP despairs of me because I don't use any contraception.
Why not join us in the 40+ parents group..we have a few expecting, and a few ttc through IVF, and a few of us who feel done. They are a good bunch in there.

Hi Donna,
I'm 44 and have 2 dds naturally conceived when I was 34 and 38.... They are almost 10 and 5.
Have been trying for another for quite a while now,but no luck. Considering ivf and cant really work out whether to give it a go or not. Also whether to just go straight for a donor (if possible):ecomcity:
Would love another, however finances are tight and the other two are constantly wanting attention and wonder if there's enough of me to go around!
This body feels slightly done, wonder if I could handle all that again???eg; ceasares and severe pnd etc.etc..hubby not one to help much either...get the picture?
Well, I say go for it and stuff what anyone thinks...if it's what you really want.If it's meant to be then go for it !!:)
bye for now ,

thanks girls for being out there and breaking the age barrier for women to "have" kids by.
i'm 35 and expecting our third. i'd like to think if i wanted to have kids into my 40's that would be fine and a wonderful thing to experience.
i know it helps me to know friends who have had kids in their 40's (their first child in many cases).
my mum is doing her law degree and is 60 and everyone keeps saying how amazing it is...
i keep scratching my head at their amazement. surely at any age you decide to do something it should just be do-able?!
anyway, i think it's great you're still on the kid making band wagon and i find it a real inspiration.

I did ask dd1 if she would have one with me as I think that is so tasteful when mother and daughter are pg at the same time..lololol..but she doesn't have any maternal feelings, or a partner for that matter, and will likely have problems conceiving due to endo:no:.
I have left strict instructions for her to have one in five years time when my youngest starts school and I get clucky again:laughing:.
Hugs,
Amy:)
There is nothing wrong with being a mum after 50.
As long as you feel you can cope, it's your life, no one should butt in.
Menopause is no barrier, an egg donor can become a new friend, :hugs:.
There is nothing more rewarding than bringing up a child, your love will stretch, :cloud9:.

Thanks Zoe. I'm going to be 50 one day anyway  so it's just wether it's with bub #5 or not. At the moment I don't care about menopause as I still have 3 embryos "on ice" who were started when I was "only" 39 LOL
Now all I need is the money for the FET and to drop a few kilos :goodvibes:

Hi DonnaR,
If you know you can do it then you should or you may come to regret it one day.
Btw, Does your sig say 2 sets of twins? Or is it my sleeplessness at 3.30am?
But goodluck, whatever you choose, I do think you're marvelous for wanting to have a baby at around 50. I really mean it.
(I'm 42 and have 2 kids)

HI Ethereal
Not your sleeplessness, yep I have had my 1st 4 2 x 2 :)
Thing is I don't feel 47, well OK most of the time I don't LOL. I still feel like I did in my early 30s when DH and I were first married. We always joke that we are 10 years slower than everyone else. So by his logic I am only 37 and that's a good age LOL:yelclap:
I was thinking the same thing about the 2 sets of twins, how fantastic!!!!
I am wishing like mad for twins when I do my donor cycle with Bev next month, she gave her last IP's twins,:baby: :baby:.
But do go ahead if you want another set!!!!
I didn't think they would keep them in the cooler after 5 years??
Good luck with it all.
Zoe.
HI Zoe
My Dr had a couple have their babes 10 yrs apart from the same IVF cycle so we just keep paying the storage fee every year until we make our mind up :)
Hope your wishes come true with your donor :)
