Hey just wondering if anyone has used these b4? I took my 17.5 month to docs today
as he has high temp 38.5 and rising, runny nose, cranky and when ever i give him panadol orally he throws up. So the doc told me to give him 250 mg supp every 4 hours 4 the next 24 hours. i looked on the back of the bottle and it says to give 15mg/1kg well he is 12kg, so that means he can have 180 mg not 250mg. Anyways i ended up cutting a tiny bit off the capsule so it was more like 180mg. Because if u give them 2 much it can cause liver damage, anyways i put paw paw cream on the supp and it kept popping out, yeah sorry 4 2mi but i dont think he has absorded it properly, cause there was some in his nappy, its soppose to dissolve. What should i do??

You need to push it in further!!! They work really well - put the big end in first!!!
The little girl i nanny had them till she was 2 1/2, then she could take medication without throwing up - once u get the hang of it , it'll be easy!!!!
You shouldn't see any in the nappy - they dissolve internally completely!!! Just give him another one!!!

just my opinion but if the doctors says 250 its because thats what the doctor thinks he should have
dont worry to much about overdosea child can have 3 times the said amount on the packet before it even starts to do any harm
please dont take offence to what i have it said it is only what i think

My son reacts the same way to Panadol. I purchased the suppositories but never had the strength to use them.:o

I use Nurofen for Children with him now and he loves the taste and is fine with it. If his temp gets over 39 before I give it to him though, I put him in a tepid bath for a few minutes first - just to bring his fever down so he can swallow the Nurofen without any issues.:hugs:

Hi There

No more than 4 doses of the recoomended dossage should be given to your child within a 24 hour period. Even if they say every 4 hours it should be no more then the 4 doses in 24 hour period. Rectal panadol should completeley absorb, but as children are children sometimes some will come out. I would not recomend re giving the dose as you are not completley aware of how much was abosrbed. PR pandol is generally a slightly larger dose then oral so dont worry if some came out.

thanks for your advice, i have given him 3 doses in 24 hours, but he is vomiting everything up wont hold down water even, its so bloody hard to insert supp. he just squirms and tightens his passage. I feel really mean cause he keeps crying and it doesnt seem to be working. Is there an easier way??

my little one was throwing up both Baby panadol and Nurofen when she had a high fever. On the recommendation of a pharmacist I saw (as a father not a professional) I sponged her down to bring her temperature down and then gave her the panadol, it worked, she did not throw up then.
