Has anyone experienced or have any advice for hip pain , its just come on on the last week ( Im 36 weeks) and is one side only. Its so painful when I move I have had to give up pre natel yoga and walking......panadol does nothing and baths make me feel a bit sick.
It only hurts when I get up or bend down or try to do to much activity....rest seems to be the only option I have found so far.....
I assume the cause is increased weight and loose joints...
cheers ladies :(

it could be siatica
bubs could be sitting on ur nerve or something
ive had sciatica the last 3 months but a few days ago bubs must have moved cos there is hardly any pain any more
It could also be your sacro-illiac joint that is under pressure from too much loosening of joints (in preparation for birth).
I have the same problem with my right hip and I do hydro-physiotherapy (in a hot pool). This helps strenghten the pelvic floor and hip muscles so that the pressure in the sacro-illiac joint is relieved.
Hydro-physiotheray is better for this condition than 'normal' physio for that the heat of the pool helps relax the muscles and the water simply cancel the effet of gravity.
Check is out with a physio.

have u ever had a previous injury in the hip before ?
I get hip pain but its where i fell an hurt self a yr or 2 back , also get tail bone pain but that's from a old injury to i hope
have a banana ;)
Ask the physio about a TENS for your hip pain -it boosts your natural painkillers and is drug free. I tried one from www.labourtens.com.au (http://www.labourtens.com.au) for my sacro-iliac pain and it worked wonders. The lady was very good at explaining how it works.
Good luck
Ahh!! I was just about to post a thread on this.
I had sciatica with DS#1 and i found it was more like nerve pinching pain that shot down my leg and i couldnt bend my knee without getting jolted!
This time around i have SEVERE (well its damned sore) pain in my HIPS and tail bone, hell even my lowerback today, and i find bending or sitting or standing or lying extremly uncomfortable and at times get a blinding almost cramp? like pain in my hips. I dont know what to do, resting isn't an option for me as i look after two 2yo's and walk to pick up a 6yo from school everyday!! I can't even bend to pull my pants up without nearly keeling over!
My baby is posterior at the moment (to protect itself from the failing limbs of a 2yo tanty thrower?) and maybe since the pain is generally in one hip for a few days then the other or the middle! that maybe it is the babys postion? I cant get on my hands and knees when im home alone or i cant get back up!! I have a gym ball and try to spend as much time as i can on that, but its all such short lived relief!!

Hi There,
You might find it helpful to have a look at www.pelvicinstability.org.au for information and tips for coping with this pain.

hi ive got this somthing shocking too! i went and saw the physio joined to the birth center and they told me i was just basicly starting to loosen up before birth hips and pelvis bones starting to split, sugested getting a proper hip and belly support band(one for us prego laddies) and sleeping with a a pillow between my legs on my "good "side rather on my back also warm baths or swimming if you can get to are suposed to be good, and try not to do to much house work spread it out if i vacume the lounge room one day i save the bed rooms for the next , its been a hell of a lot better since ive been doing theese things not great but at least know i dont feel like a crippled old lady!
