View Full Version : Hot Dish Help!!!
Oh I'm desperately in need of some quick ideas!
I stuffed up the dates for a baby dedication that I'm going to and thought it was next Sunday when in fact it's TOMORROW!
I'm suppose to bring a hot dish but can't think of what to make.
Any ideas would be MUCH appreciated as I have to go whip it up tonight :o.
Thanks in advance!

potato bake
meatballs (good for fingerfood with toothpicks)
pastry things (pastitsis (sp?)
curry lamb/beef/chicken
lasagne
Stuffed cannelloni
Singapore noodles (you could cheat and buy it from a chinese restaurant on the way tomorrow:D)
Lol - Oh how I'd just LOVE to cheat funnyfarm however I seriously doubt the chinese restaurant will be open at the time I need to get down there.
Just had a search through the pantry and as I feared it's slim pickins.
Looks like a warm, creamy, luciously fattening - er, I mean tasty potato bake might be on the cards!
Hmm, I do however have a lot of pastry in the freezer, might go have a look-see at what I have in the fridge. Might be able to whip up some yummy pasties!
Mmmm Jem I love quiche - but I've never made it before in my life!!! Got a recipe for me? I have some stuff I can add and I know quiche is quick and easy!
Anna, I make quiche all the time.
Its basic (and NOT non-fat :o) but its easy.
I use some shortcrust pastry.
3 eggs
1 cup of milk
1 carton of cream
whisk it all together.
I tip the creamy mixture in the pastry along with some shredded/diced ham, grated cheese and garlic.
Pop it in the oven for about 1 hour 15 minutes (I have a fan-forced electric oven) at 180, so your oven may be different.
You can tell when it is set though

Spinach and feta pie - or you could use any vege or meat....
fry an onion beat 4 eggs and a cup of cream or milk, add some seasoning and a cup of cheese (feta or whatever you have).
Line a tray with a sheet of puff pastry, mix in the veges and pour. bake and voila!
Mmmmm yum girls!
Damn it! I knew I shouldn't have skipped dinner, now I'm all hungry! :(
Quiche is looking good - that way it can be served cold if there's no room in the oven for reheating
Oh and ETA I think I don't cook quiche because of DH - he's a real man . Stuff him - spinich & fetta quiche is to die for and will be on the menu this week! ;)
