Howdy
I'm thinking about starting to grow a few veges and things of my own - things perhaps like parsley, lettuce, strawberries and a few other things.
I'm just wondering if you grow your own stuff - what do you grow, do you have a huge vege patch, or just a few things in pots, and do you think it saves you money (ie : is it worth it ?)
Thanks

At the moment I have herbs (parsely, mint, rocket, sage, basil and rasmary) chillis and brocilli.
I save HEAPS on the herbs, it only costs $5 a pot and they last a whole season, you can pay up to $3 a bunch for herbs in the supermarkets and they go off so quickly.
My mum gave me the chillis so they were free and they taste better fresh.
I have also had tomatoes, but couldn't grow many due to space issues - I didn't think it was worth it as I had to put in a lot of effort to grow just a few, hopefully this summer will be different!

I have heaps of veggies and fruit and herbs in my garden. I reckon they save us heaps of $$$. They are also healthy and the kids actually enjoy eating the things that they plant and pick.
I wold suggest looking at the Diggers Club site and maybe contacting your local area's organic gardening association for hints on what to plant when in your area.
Good luck and happy gardening!
