View Full Version : I lodged Dh's tax return and found out I don't have to do one for myself....

what do I do next? On the ATO website it said you have to order a form and then send it in to say you don't have to lodge. Is that the only way? Anyone in this position? What did you do? This is the first year I haven't worked, but I did get parenting payment.

you might get something back seeing you were on pp did you get any of that taxed? depending on your iincome you may be suprised :)

You have to login in and then go to an option on the left hand side which says family assistance, then go to Advise non-lodgement of tax return

Or just fill in the non lodgement form in a tax pack..
Its at the beginning of the book, page 6 i think..
If you have no income for the whole year apart from centrelink i don't think you even need to send in a non-lodgement advice (theres something on their site about it) though I sent one in anyway cause I needed to change my address with them since had moved. You can get the form of off the ATO site. Make sure you tell family assistance you don't need to lodge one.

Does this also cover the ATO side of it or do you also have to let them know??:confused:
