At the moment ds is 14 months old and having 2 bf a day, morning and night. I don't know if he will still be feeding when #2 comes along, but I only intend to actively wean him if I feel I am not coping. What I'm wondering is, how do I manage his feeds while I'm in hospital?? It is possible that I will have a ceasar so will be in for a few nights. I have never, ever expressed and don't think he would be too happy about having it in a cup anyway. I think by then (he will be 20 months) it is likely to be mainly for comfort.
I know there must be tandem feeders out there who have dealt with this situation, what do I do??

It is awesome that you want to tandem:smiliedance:
I have not been able to tandem, but can suggest from other friends who have, is having bub brought into hospital by your partner/mother/friend possible?
If you dont have a ceaser in the end, many hospitals are happy for you to leave whenever your comfortable (12-24hrs)
best of luck
and when in doubt, call the ABA

I'd be happy for df or my mum to bring him in, but it's going to depend when he is feeding by then. The evening feed would be fine, but he is usually up around 5.30 and wants boob pretty much straight away! See how it goes, I guess. I could be worrying for nothing! Yeah, I'm hoping to leave after 24 hours if I end up having a normal delivery:fingerscrossed:
Any more ideas/suggestions/experiences welcome!

Even if you do have a C/S you can make arrangements for discharge if that is what you wish.
The hospital care (if uncomplicated C/S) is usually nothing more than oral pain medications which you dont need to be a brain surgeon to administer.
When DD was born, DS was not quite 2 1/2. I had a caesar, so our first meeting after that was him on one side and she on the other about 3 hours after the caesar. He seemed quite stoked about it. A few days on, he was in heaven because my milk had come in, in mamoth proportions!
I was only in hospital for 3 days I think, so we coped with two visits or so a day and then at home I let him have the side after DD was finished with it and had swapped sides. I felt mean to him, but realised that she needed the bulk first.
We continued like this for the next two years. As she got older I would just let him have one side and she the other.
Coincidentally or not, he's never had any jealousy issues with her!

You'd better hope you get a fanny surgeon doing your Caesar though!
