That is great, thank you for this. At least once all the July babies are born (including yours Mandy31 even if it ends up being August) we can start moving over here and keep in touch this way.

See you all here very soon.

Hi Girls! I forgot to add Jenna, in my post over the other bit that I love your new avatar pic, she truly is one of the most adorable babies I've seen, I just LOVE her hair! I seem to have bald babies, the little bit that Millie had is falling out all over the top and staying around the back and sides, poor little girl looks like an 80 yearold man lol

You'll get an email letting you know that people have posted in this thread so you dont forgot that we're here  J/K :p

Deek seems a little better today, he has a chesty cough though, so we're off to the Dr's at 3pm. Hopefully it'll clear ASAP. He slept realy well last night, up only twice and then straight after the feeds. He's in his cot now fast

It's so different from Wyatt, Wyatt NEVER slept during the day and even at night was a nightmare. Deek is just so different and Im still scratching my head and wondering if he was mixed up at the hospital  He cant have been though, he's the spitting image of Wyatt!

Not sure if I should answer in here or the other thread but here goes...lol
Thanks to everyone that asked how DF's court case went. All we did was adjurn it as he has another separate charge thats being dealt with in august. We are going to adjurn that one too as another court is more leniant (SP) to traffic offecnces so we're gunna go there. So we wont know what his sentence is for another 6 weeks.

Zack was weighed today and he is 3460kg :smiliedance:

Beth- Hopefully Deeks cough will clear up soon. Charlie has a chesy one as well. Its horrible to see them coughing. I have an appt on saturday, the earliest i could get in.
Shell- Congrats on Zacks weight. Sounds like he is doing well. :hugs: i hope everything goes well with your DF's court case. It can be a very stressful wait.

Well we are doing ok atm. Charlie doenst seem to mind being woken for a feed. I am doing it every 3.5 hours atm and expressing in between. Its exhausting but i know it worth it. I am going to get the ingredients for the cookies tomorrow. I cant wait to cook them.

Yay.... new section!

I am SO tired! Joel has been so unsettled for for the past 24 hours. Has to be held, and won't drop off for a deep sleep... just horrid! Thankfully he hasn't been crying too much, but gee i just wish he would have a nap in his bassinet! Even in his hug a bub he hasn't been sleeping for more than 10 minutes before he wakes and is looking around again.

So not looking forward to tonight.:(

Libby and Beth, hopefully Charlie and Deacon's colds get better quickly:hugs:. I think Thomas is coming down with one, he has a cough and a bit of a stuffy nose.

Shell, :smiliedance:on Zack's weight, sounds like he is going well. Good luck with your DF's court case.

Jane, hope Joel is more settled for you tonight:hugs:

Well seeing as Thomas is 2 months old today, I thought it was a good time to post more pics, I can't believe my little man is growing up so fast :cloud9:

Hello all you lovelies!!

Just thought I had better pop my head in and say hello. Everything is going really well here, little Ry is just gorgeous and Mia is loving him to bits!! We have just been in a big cacoon getting used to our new bigger family and so far so good.:goodvibes::cloud9:

BFing is going well so far this time, touchwood, Ry is happy and settled and was back to his birth weight when we had him weighed on tuesday. I can't believe he is 10 days old already!!

I will try to pop back in and catch up with everything I missed. When I have some time I will also write up my birth story and fill you all in.

Hope everyone is going really well,

Take care all,

Em :hugs:

Welcome home hunny! :hugs:

Mel, Thomas is just gorg :cloud9:

Lib: Hope Charlie's cough goes away soon :hugs:

We took Wyatt and Deacon to the Dr this afternoon, We've decided to give Wyatt another go on Penacillin, he did develop a rash at 12 months after taking some, BUT, they also explained that the rash could have been from the actual virus he had at the time. Fingers crossed that it is as the medications he is having without penacillin DO NOT work for him :banghead:

Deacon's cough is OK, it's not in his chest or lungs *phew* we're to keep up what we are doing, using the little fess saline drops and sucker, and to make sure he keeps feeding properly. His nose seems to be clearing more and more everyday. Fingerscrossed we are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

The joys of having a winter baby! Wyatt was a summer baby, so he didn't get his first cold until he was about 7-8 months old. Mind you, he didn't have any siblings infecting him!!

Deacon is due for a feed very shortly, so I better get a move on.

Aw.. lovley. Glad to see he is a Holden supporter! :yelclap:

How did Deek go at the Doc Beth?

I am loving a hug-a-bub at the moment, a friend lent me one. I have bought a maya sling but I had a car accident 3 years ago, totally stuffed my neck and It just puts too much pressure on one spot, the side that was the worst after the accident. Dh and my friend loves it but I can't use it :no:The hug-a-bub tends to be better on my neck but still tough on the back.

So I'm going to list it on Ebay in a few days, unless you guys know anyone who wants one going cheapish?

My mum and best friend were at maia's birth. They were both sp fantastic that i knew i had to get them something special to thank them. I bought the both a Willowtree figurine to symbolise their relationship with Maia. I wrapped them up and wrote them both a lovely thank you card. They loved them! they both cried when i gave them to them. (ialso used the card to ask my friend if she would be maia's god mother)

Welcome Kewlchicmum...we've chatted before on the c-section thread. Hope it all went well.

As for gifts, we wanted the get grandparent gifts. We got little digital photo frames on keyrings and loaded them up with pictures of Bridie. Nan and Granny loved them. We ordered them online.

I'v got the enhancement unit lady coming today at 2pm, to discuss my anxiety at being left alone...I know I'm being very open about this, perhaps blase but I'd hate to think anyone else is feeling like this and didn't think they could share. I'm kind of looking forward to it, but kind of anxious!!! We'll wait and see what she says.

Granny and Pa are visiting today too (DH's parents...they're really great!) and my parents are coming tomorrow. Lahri (I think) mentioned about having your own parents around...there's nothing like it, DH doesn't agree but I can't wait to see them, and it's only been 2 weeks.

It seems this is the place to chat now, so I'll check in soon. 27 degrees!!!! I think we're headed for 14 degrees here in Melbourne...it's pouring! Hope your cold is better soon Beth! Have a great day everyone.

Im so stoked, my Dad is coming home :yelclap: Long story short, he and Mum split almost a year ago and he moved to Melbourne to be with another woman () Dad told me this week that he bought a business up here on the Coast so I get my Dad back :yelclap: He gets to see my boys more now, he only met Deek last week at 5 weeks old, which was hard as he met Wyatt when he was 3 hours old. He is bringing his new GF with him, but I dont care as long as I get my Dad back!!!

Mel- Tom is a real cutie hun!

Beth (badger) hope Millie is settling better for you soon, and feeding well. Joel screamed till about 7pm last night. finally settled after a bath with his bothers then a b/f and the final touch was a warm wheat bag over his tummy/back as he slept! Woke for a quick feed at 11, then back to sleep till 1. Was awake from 1-2 then slept till 5am. So i am feeling quite refreshed today after heading to bed myself at 9.30! and getting up at 8am.:smiliedance:

Well it seems that this horrid flu is getting around. Thomas has a blocked, then running nose which is dripping down his throat making him choke. Last night it was sooo bad that he nearly stopped breathing and was going blue!

This morning, he has wheezy breathing and every now and again, starts to choke from the build up of stuff at the back of his throat. I've called the docs but they are fully booked but she has taken my number and will ring if there are any cancellations.

Is there anything i can do in the meantime to help him feel better?

Keep him as upright as possible,... do you have a sling? He would prob be happiest close to you in a sling,.... have a humidifier? If so, put it on,...or steam up the bathroom and spend some time in there,. let him suck as much as he wants to... keep him warm.:hugs:

Mel to add on to SJR's great suggestions-, you can also pop a blanket under his mattress in his bassinet or cot under his head area to prop it up a little so he isn't lying flat. Helps to try to stop the snot running down their throats and making them cough. Don't pop it up too much though cos he will slip down under the blankets.

Just thought I would add that I had this trouble with Sophie alot as a newborn we ended up in hospital and she did stop breathing and then went on to have further episodes of bronchilitis and I used the humidifier which was fantastic and also try some "Fess little noses" it's saline drops you put about 5 drops up there nostrils to loosen mucus and you can either let it run our or you can use the "sucker" to suck it out. Lily is a little snuffly at the moment and I have been using it and it's great and relieves their breathing heaps. Also the health nurse told me I could also use some breast milk and put a few drops up each nostril too.

Hope all is better soon darl it does give you a horrible scare :hugs:

I am going to have to get used to posting here now, I should look into subscribing to this thread, then it will be easier to check back in here.

Beth thank you for your comment about my avatar, I love that picture of her. She wasn't too keen on the tummy time but then she is still so young so I am going to wait a little bit longer I think. The chn told me to give her a couple of minutes 2-3 times a day, I think that is overdoing it when she is only just 2 weeks old.

I love her hair, I am going to miss it when it starts to fall out. It is already a lot lighter, at birth it was almost black, now it is sort of light brown. She has the most amazing eyes, we can't quite work out which colour they are. At birth I thought they were brown, then they looked stone grey, very dark blue/green so I wonder what colour they will settle as. My dh and I both have brown/hazel eyes and his change to green on occasion.

We had her passport photographs taken this week and she looks a little like a boy with spiky hair. The pink on her outfit didn't really show up so it just looks very pale, oh well. It won't look like her by the time we fly anyway. Pointless really!

Great to hear about Millie's weight gain, that is great. Are you both tall? I should check what Maddison's weight gain was at our appointment last week, didn't even pay any attention to it, the chn didn't tell me what the measurements were either.

W&DsMama I am glad Deacon is a little better, hopefully it will clear up quickly for him. It must be really worrying for you all, good to hear that he slept well last night.

Mel those pictures are so cute, thank you for sharing those with us. Hasn't he grown!!

kewlchicmum welcome to the July babies thread, feel free to join in chatting with us, it is great to have another mum in the group.

Mel it is great to hear that you have the enhancement unit lady coming to visit you today. I hope something positive comes out of it, I am really proud of you for talking about how you feel and being so open. It really will help you get through this, you are doing so well and are a fantastic mother.

I hope you had a good time with granny and pa too, it sounds like you will be a little busy for a while. That should help take your mind of things as well and keep you occupied. I don't think it matters how long ago you last saw them, they are your parents and you are obviously close to them. I can't wait for my parents to come and going back to England with them.

Well I really should be doing the ironing or something rather than sitting here. It isn't nice out and has been raining all day so I haven't put any washing on, I can always do two loads tomorrow if necessary and use the tumble dryer. I should upload some more photographs of Maddison to my facebook page. I don't like to put too many online as there are some strange people about  don't worry, not talking about you hubbers.

Oh yes!! Beth was on earth is a dag or whatever you called me?

Mel, I totally understand how Thomas took ten years off your life, it's exactly was Deek did the other night when I called the ambulance.

Another good tip my Dr gave is to stick him on his tummy and gently massage his back to help the mucus dislodge out his nose better, Ive noticed with tummy time that it is running out.

Keep and eye on his feeding, and his nappy output, 6-9 wet nappies and 1-2 poopeys for a breastfed bub and one poopey foor a formula bub. If you notice his nappy is drier than usual after a few hours on him, please call the hospital they can dehydrate so quickly.

I really hope he gets better soon.

Hi all.

Well, the enhancement unit lady was awesome! She was here for about 1 1/2 hours and we talked and cried the whole time...well I cried! I felt so much better after she left like a great weight had been lifted off my shoulders. Here are the points she made, sorry if TMI!

*I may have some grief and loss issues due to the fact my milk didn't come in for a week and so I couldn't provide for my baby. Also over the loss of my old life, due to getting pregnant so quickly (1 month!)
*I have some physical symptoms of anxiety, like loss of appetie and a tingly feeling all over, this will probably need some medication for a while.
*I am anxious about settling Bridie, so we're implementing a controlled settling technique, I feel much better about having some sort of routine, although last night it took DH 2 hours to finally settle her down!:eek::eek:
*We're trying to get her back to 4 hourly feeding, with one 5 hour stretch overnight, she's done ok with this since yesterday, so she can eat between 2.5-4 hourly. This mean one hour up, then in the cot to settle, regardless of whether she is sleepy or not...it's ok for her to lie there awake, but settle of she's crying and only pick her up if she's inconsolable.

Has anyone done this controlled settling before? I'm not sure of what to do in the case of what's just happened...she fed at 7:30am and fell straight back to sleep. I tried to wake her up, but IMPOSSIBLE! So I've just put her back down, I figure she needs to sleep.

I'll be assigned a caseworker next week for 4 more visits and join a group for other mums who have anxiety type feelings too. All really positive stuff. I would so encourage anyone to look into this service if they have ANY issues! I feel so much happier today than I have since Bridie was born. I feel a better link with her too (esp. when she's asleep!)

I'm still expressing once or twice a day as beautiful DH is giving Bridie a night feed with a bottle...I often express while I'm catching up here (sorry again if TMI!) and I just expressed 150ml! I can only do that if I've missed a feed overnight, but that is after she fed!

I hope all the sickies are feeling better!

Lahri...it's kind of hard to describe what a dag is...it's a loving term for someone who's a bit silly I suppose, certainly not derogatory! I know Australians are constantly 'putting others down' but it really is only because they love and appreciate the person. It seems that it often doesn't go down well with people from other countries. I know my parents have just found that in Canada, using derogatory terms for friends was taken seriously, when it was really only a term of endearment. Can anyone else help out here? I hope I've explained it properly, please feel free to elaborate or correct me!

New avatar too...can't figure our how to make the photobucket/imageshack thing work, so I'll just put a new photo there once in a while!

Have a good day everyone xxx

Aysha has a cold too tanks to her daddy he has given it to everyone..... poor ayshie was struggling to breathe last night with her nose all blocked up so i was constantly checking on her but i used that little nose thing with the saline drops and the sucker thing and she isnt as blocked up.

I got my hair done thursday omg i love it. I had to get luke to give aysha some formula though while i was getting my hair done he said she guzzled it down. I tried expressing but sh!t it hurt with the breast pump and i only got a drop out so i thought stuff it a once off feed with formula shouldn't hurt her.

Thanks to everyone who commented on the photo's of aysha.... i would share some more with her wearing jeans yesterday for jeans for genes day but luke has the camera in the car with him at work... she looked so adorable.

Jenna how is maddison's sleeping going has it improved for you?

Mel - I don't think controlled settling is something i would do but i am so glad that it is working for you and that you are much happier than you were.... Keep it up hun your doing a great job.

Umm i have totally lost what i was going to say....sorry if i missed anyone

We took Charlie to the hospital last night as he had developed a rash on his torso and it was getting worse.
We got there around 8pm and it was packed. We had him assessed by the triage nurse, and she thought it might be a viral rash.
She told us that the wait would be a couple of hours, so it would be adviseable that DF go home and i call him when we were ready to leave, so he went around to my mums and waited with William.
I sat in the waiting room for a hour or so until we were called in.
He had to have bloods done and also a chest xray.
He has a high white blood cell count and he also has some stuff on his chest. The doctor prescribed some anti-biotics for him. He said that it looks like he is coming to the end of a viral infection.
So 8 hours later at 430am i call DF to come and get us and take us home.

Oh dear Lib, I really hope he's OK. Damn these bugs hanging around, the joys of winter babies hey

Deek has hit the 6 week - I aware of the world, sod the day sleeping routine today PMSL, he's only had about a 1 hour cat nap all day in two lots of sleeps. He's such a happy baby though, this morning was hilarious, he was in his cot gooing away and then he started to cry a bit, I went in to pick him up and he flash me the biggest grin as soon as I did pick him up, little monkey already knows how to get mum going

I love DH so much, I was really tired before so he took the boys to the park for 2 hours :cloud9:

Beth what a lovely DH!!!
Kir- i cant wait to see your hair. I am getting mine done for the first time in years from my mums friend. I am going to get a new cut and a full head of foils for $80, much better than the $150 that one of the hairdressers quoted me.

I am allergic to penicilin too.

Poor little man.

Mel I am really glad that you had a positive visit from the enhancement lady, it sounds like you are happy with the initial outcome. A good cry often helps you feel better, it gets all those emotions out and I believe it helps you feel happier about things.

I have not tried a controlled settling technique and i don't know much about it. I do know that if Maddison finds it hard to settle then I would be prepared to try anything. Good on you for being so open and trying different methods to help you and Bridie.

Having a caseworker will be great and attending a group could also help. You will meet other people who feel the same way, hopefully that is helpful for you.

Thank you for explaining what a dag is, I didn't take any offense and wouldn't anyway. Have lived in Australia for almost 2 years now and getting used to Aussie slang and the way people are. We have experienced nothing but friendly, welcoming people.

Kiralee, Maddison is still only going 2 hours really in between a feed, sometimes less. We have moved into another bedroom in our house which seems a lot warmer so it didn't bother me when I had to get up last night. I was actually warm. We went out though and didn't get to bed until 2ish, so the night was short anyway. Thanks for asking and will continue to let you al l know how it is going. She is only 2 weeks old so it is early days still.

Well she is getting upset, seems grizzly today and just wants to feed non stop. Think she is having a bit of a growth spurt. I will post more tomorrow and try to catch up with everyone. Sorry for the lack of personals.

Good night all xx

Lib - aww poor lil charlie i hope he gets better soon and he has a cold too poor lil man. Will you have your hair done by aron's wedding? My hair cost me $125 for half colour and foils plus cut and the blow dry and hair straightening i get done.... i don't mind spending that much though i don't get my hair done that often maybe every 5 months.

Beth - haha sounds like he has you wrapped around his lil finger already.... how sweet of dh

Jenna - I'm sure she will start sleeping for you more soon. Once she goes through her growth spurt i'm sure she will start to sleep a bit more... I know Aysha did so :fingerscrossed: Maddison does too so you can catch up on some well deserved sleep.

I think i'm going to be in for a long night poor Aysha is struggling today and she will only sleep when i'm cuddling her or someone else is... when i put her down she just starts crying.... her cold is taking alot out of her she isn't drinking as much because she gets too tired and falls asleep. Luke isn't much help as soon as he came home he went straight to bed  so annoying you think he would want something to do with us after work but i guess not..... he did give us this bloody cold though.... men.... they never wear enough warm clothes then wonder why they get sick

Hi girls,
I also posted this in the breastfeeding section but thought I would ask you girls what you think also ;)

Lily is my 3rd baby and I'm really enjoying feeding her especially as she will be our last bubba.

My question for you girls is sometimes when she is feeding she really fiddles around and fidgets!!!!!!!!!! I am just wondering if anyone can help me out on what this might be  She is quite a windy baby and does vomit alot so I'm just wondering if it may be wind pain or my supply running low???? I have been taking fenugreek tablets and I certainly feel like I have enough milk although my boobs don't feel like rocks and she seems to drain them as they are soft once she has fed.

Any help would be great thank you girls

Kiralee, :hugs:to you and Aysha, this flu is horrid. Thomas is the same with not drinking alot and falling asleep all the time. Just make sure that you wake her up every now and again so she doesn't get dehydrated. Hope she starts to feel better soon.

Libby, awww poor Charlie :hugs: I hope he starts to get better real soon.

Jenna, hopefully Maddison starts sleeping better soon. I agree with Kiralee, after her growth spurt, she should sleep a bit longer.

Beth, what a lovely thing for DH to do. Sounds like that little man of yours has you wrapped around his little finger :p

Hi Shell , how's that little man of yours going?

Hi and big hugs to everyone i've missed

Well Thomas seems alot better today but still blocked up a bit. I used the humidifer last night and also the little noses drops and sucker. He hated the sucker soooo much, he screamed the house down but gosh, it made such a difference with his breathing:yes:

He is sleeping heaps at the moment but I know it's good for him, though I have to wake him up sometimes for feeds so he doesn't dehydrate. Well it's nearly feed time again so I better go. Thanks to everyone for your advice :hugs:

Beth no offense taken at all, had never heard it before, silly billy I get  that is definitely me. Hope little Miss E is doing well.

Lisa I don't have any advice sorry I just wanted to let you know that Maddison is very similar and doing the same thing. It gets quite frustrating at times but just going with the flow of things and hopefully the wind will not be an issue for too long and that they settle down.

SJR hope you get some sleep soon. I am trying to avoid co-sleeping but of Maddison gets particularly grizzly or windy then I do tend to sleep with her for a bit. I normally find it is about 5-6 in the morning then I just get her up and put her in bed with us. It does worry me but I have found a position that would be extremely hard for me to roll over onto her.

Mel I am glad that Bridie slept well last night, it sounds like you are doing a great job with her. Keep it up and I am sure she will continue to gain weight and be a happy baby. I hope you are feeling better about things too.

Maddison slept pretty well last night being as we had a terrible episode with wind all evening. She woke every 2 hours for a feed and was a little grizzly in her sleep but apart from that all was good. She is a wonderful baby and we can't complain really, we don't have many problems, I just think night times feel so bad because your sleep is being disturbed, not because they are being hard work.

Have a great day all, going to get my washing out of the machine. I put it in about 3pm yesterday and forgot all about it. I wonder if it will be a nice enough day to put it on the line. Catch up later all.

Good morning ladies,

SJR - Deacon co-sleeps with us about 50% of the time of a night time, it's just easier to settle him and we all end up getting some sleep!

Last night he scared me again with his breathing, he had the biggest coughing fit :( I was in tears trying to get him to calm down and breathe :crying: He would scream the moment he got his breath back again.
He ended up sleeping with me, belly to belly, there was no way I was letting him sleep in his cot, even though it was next to me, I preferred to have him with me. He does seem OK this morning, he was pretty fussy with feeding last night, only having half a feed, if that, so today Im watching him like a hawk.

I hope all the bubba's that are sick get well soon, sorry for the lack of personals, I have to go and do the groceries and Im starting early so I beat the crowds

gah sounds like most of us had a rough night.

we did here too poor aysha had to be held up right all night so after a few hours of me doing it i went and woke luke up and told him he gave this to her he was to look after her so i could get some sleep and to wake me when she was hungry. He did which was good of him but he didn't really have much choice. then when it was time for him to go to work it was my time i propped her up in her bed but that didn't help her much. So after a while i had to put her into bed with me and sit her up. Just now dad went down town and brought a humidifier to help her breathe.... well help us all breathe we all have this cold thing so hopefully that will help

i hope all our bubbas get better soon

Sorry to hear that so many of the July babies are sick, it must be really worrying when they are struggling to breathe. We had that scare last week and thought she was choking just after she had been fed and went back to sleep. It stopped my dh and I from sleeping all night. Maddison does make some strange sounds when she is sleeping though so we are having to get used to them. We just hope it isn't linked to her heart murmur.

How have your weekends been? Hopefully you managed to get some rest and for those of you who are on your own with your baby I hope it goes okay. My dh only had 3 days off after Maddison was born and he worked from home anyway during them. We had someone here for 5 days but apart from that I am alone also.

Going to play on the computer for a bit whilst Maddison is sitting here quietly and then have a bath with her.

Speak tomorrow. Good night all

Beth- I had this same problem last week!! Joel refused to go to sleep on his back. (FYI, he is back on his back now! ROFL... but still likes the occasional nap on his tum.)
SO yes, i went out and bought an angel care monitor. (actually... a net friend got it and sent it to me cos the targets ran out!) I paid $129 for it on special at target. Apparently they retail for $179.
It was great for the time he was on his tum, and still is good.
It has a little light that flashes each time they move/breathe. it is really very sensitive :D. you can also set it to tic each time so you can hear it (or i think that is what it does... bugged me, i was happy with the light)

It goes off after 20 seconds if no movement is felt. It has gone off twice here... because i had forgotten to turn it off when i took him out of the cot! so goes to show it works i guess!

We bought a Tommee Tippee Ultimate Reassurance Monitor and it is great. I often forget to turn the alarm off though when I get Maddison out of bed and of course after 20 seconds it goes off. At least I know it works though and it definitely reassures me.

I can't remember how much we paid for it, but can check if need be.

Good night all, hope you get some sleep.

Hey girl
In regards to the baby monitors, I would have been a nervous wreak if we had not had one for our previous two kids. I have used it until the kids could move around and the monitor would go off all the time. It helps me to have a good two hrs sleep in these early days when sleep is so precious and you would not sleep thru the alarm going off, it is very sensitive and you can have it as loud as you wish. A god send and well worth the money, you can not put a price on kids lives and if it heaps to keep you sain so you know if they are breathing or not, I say spend the money. Must run, our princess is awake and hungry, speak again soon and hope all bubas are feeling better soon.

I use one and they worth their weight in gold  Sophie had atmeas when she was little and it was my peace of mind. I'm using it now with Lily not that she has any problems but more for me so I know she is safe. They are around $200 I think I've borrowed mine from a friend.

Good morning all,

I am heading off out this morning at 10.30 and knowing how long it can take to get ready I suppose I should start getting organised otherwise I won't even get my washing done and on the line.

With regard to the feeding times Lisa that really does seem to vary with Maddison at the moment. I am finding that sometimes she will feed for about 20 minutes, then other times only 10 (think she may be starting to use me as a dummy!!!) and last night she fed on and off for about an hour. I think I dozed too!!

She didn't sleep well last night, was very windy and in the end my DH slept in the other room and I slept with her in the bed. I think she is getting into a habit of that and I don't know how to break it. Apart from keep putting her back in her cot and letting her cry before picking her up. Then settling her again, I suppose that is the only way and I am going to have to do it if it continues.

Will see how it goes until my parents arrive, my mum is quite experienced in child care and she will help me if we have any bad habits.

Hope you all have a wonderful day, what are you all planning on doing?

happytobehere welcome to this section of bubhub, feel free to join in with us and I look forward to getting to know you. I know it will seem that we all know each other but don't worry about that, just jump in and get to know us.

Thanks Jane for the book details, I'll look into the PM - haven't done it before! Wish me luck!

Bridie feeds for 10mins each side, and usually stops herself before that, and then has some overflow too - midwives told me that the baby will get everything she needs in that first 10 mins, after that it just comfort sucking...not sure how everyone feels about it, but Bridie is putting on weight and is quite content, sleeps for a couple of hours (usually) after each feed, so I'm sticking to it!

Mel that is good to know thank you. I was worried that Maddison wasn't getting enough if she only has a short feed but I figured she has plenty of wet/soiled nappies so I knew she was getting enough.

Glad to hear that Bridie is putting on weight, she is obviously content and doing really well. I love your avatar she is so beautiful.

I feed Maddison on one side until she has finished, I normally find that there is still a little milk left, but not sure how much if I tried to express it. I have offered her the other side after a feed but she doesn't normally take it, I guess each baby is different but at least we get a rough idea by what others are posting.

I hope you are feeling positive about things still, you seem to be doing really well.

Anyway, I am off to get organised. I have had breakfast and put a load of washing in. I need to have a bath with Maddison and get ready to go out.

Speak to you all soon. Have a great day, any plans?

Sasha how are you doing by the way? Not heard from you in a while, I bet you are being kept busy with 3 little ones.

To all you others we haven't heard from, hope you are getting some sleep in and enjoying the time with your little ones. Look forward to hearing from you soon.

Morning girls,

Had a good night with Lily we were in bed asleep by 10.30pm and then she fed at 2.15am and then woke again at 6.20am so managed to get some good sleep thankfully. She is still in bed now but due to wake soon. DH went back to work today and so far so good all organized here had my shower early and DH made the bed for me and got the other 2 girls breakfast before he left. So got them dressed now and just got some washing to fold and then I'm all ready for Lily when she wakes.

Georgia has kinder today so got my MIL to come over when I do drop off and my mum will come later for when I go pick her up just so much easier than putting 3 of them in the car for a 5 second trip.

Hope you are all having a good morning and your little ones are going well too. Once we all get past this damn "wind" problem life will get easier for sure.

Have a good day girls

Hello beautiful Mammas  I wanted to say Hi! I have been with BH for months and was a godsend during my pregnancy. I have posted questions and responded to others but never spoke in the chat thread. I have wanted to post but never knew what to say in the pregnancy chat.
Still don't have anything to add except here I am :smiliedance: hehe.

Congrats to all Mums and Bubs!!!!! Oh andas for bub DOB he was due July 7 but began his journey into this world 19 June and arrived the 21st. He's my first and I wish I'd started earlier. What a most beautiful experience. I am soo loving getting to know this young man :valentine:

Awesome day to have a baby!! Deacon was born on the 21st too!

I recommend them though Sophie slept on her tummy too, and I have a feeling Lily will end up the same with all the pains she is having especially this time of night

Thanks girls!! I feel better knowing that they are a good product so will invest in one

I have to fly, first day at home without DH, we're going really well so far LOL! It's only lunchtime though!!

Hello lovely mummys,

how is everyone today?

I took Maia to the clinic this morning to be weighed and measured. She has put on 420 grams in 2 weeks!! She is now 3.975 kg
And has grown 1.5 cm in 2 weeks too!! :smiliedance:

In regards to time feeding maia takes forever to feed. (like an hour) She's a gutso and drains every last bit out of both sides, but has little siestas in between. This is why i express and feed her from a bottle at night time, she drinks the bottle in 10 minutes, then we get her wind up and were back asleep again. Much much quicker with a much less tired mummy the following day.

Hey Beth, sorry to butt in here, but if your going to get a movement monitor, you'll have to get a bit of ply wood for your portacot, they need to be on a sturdy base

A question for the mum's with sick bubba's, do your little ones want to be held ALL day and night?

yeah aysha has been like tht for the past few days i hope she gets better soon

Hey girls just another feeding question. How long does it take you to feed your bubba??? It can take Lily anywhere between 30mins - 1 hour what do your little ones do??????

Well off to bed now while they are all happy & quite, whishing everyone a happy night!!!!

Sweet dreams

aysha's feeds are the same but since she has been sick she has cut down a bit but drinks a bit more... last night she was constantly on my boobs and she drained them both and was still hungry so i had to top her up with formula.

Hi again, I've ben in and out a few times today as we have done nothing much...went for an hour long walk though, and had visits from Granny and Pa and Nan and Pop went home after staying for 2 nights. It was nice to have some help to get all the housework done, although they seem to create more housework while they're here! Love them lots though!

Beth - hope the rest of your day was good!

Kira - What a good idea to express so feeding takes less time in the night. DH give Bridie a bottle every second night, which is nice, and I think it's good that she's happy to take a bottle or BF, she doesn't seem to have any confusion over the 2 and DH loves to be involved in the feeding.

We managed a few outings over the weekend...a 40th half an hour away and a friend's art exhibition opening. The settling seems to be working well :fingerscrossed::fingerscrossed::fingerscrossed: and Bridie's even settling down after being in the car or pram. Before she would cry until the next feed after being removed from the carseat or the pram. Uh oh... I've spoken too soon (hears crying coming from the nursery)

How is everyone that had a caesar? I'm still having a little bit of pain, it's a sort of constant dull stingy ache (if that makes any sense), and still very numb, although I've heard that's normal. I'm looking forward to the 6 week check, which for us will be more like an 8 week check, that's how long it took to get in! I hope everything is healing properly, because I certainly haven't been taking it as easy as I should have been...IT'S IMPOSSIBLE!

Hope everyone has had a good day.

Hi there ladies- I thought I will join this group- I was in the Due in August group- which was fantastic and very supportive:yelclap:

But my angel decided to arrive 2 weeks early on 26th July:cloud9:- her name is Bianca Vivienne and she is adorable. She has a big sister who is 6yo (from previous marriage) so this is no 2 for me and no1 for my DH- and he is also on :cloud9:.

I had an emergency c-sec (I had an elective one booked for 31st- but I went into labour- Bianca just couldn't wait!!!) because DD1 got really stuck during my 1st VB birth, so the OB didn't want to risk major complications with this one. And I think they did a good call as after 20 hour labour- there was hardly any progress.....

Anyways- that is a bit of an introduction from me- some of you who have gone to the August thread might know me anyway.

I am looking forward to chatting and getting to know you all.

Well Hi All
Sorry for not being on in a while, just sat here for the last hour catching up on this thread, still have not caught up on everything i missed in our old thread but will endeavour to do that one of these days when I have nothing to do!!! hehehehahah like that is ever going to happen!!
Well no good that so many of us are sick and so too all the bubbas! I woke with a sore throat yesterday and it got progressively worse to the point where I could not speak last night and was almost vomiting! yuck, today I am a little better, still sore throat, very tired and coughing up lots of green stuff sorry tmi...dont you hate being sick and dd has a cough, ds1 has a cough and runny nose and sore bum from yucky poos, but hoping dh and ds2 dont get as my mum leaves us this friday and I dont know how I will cope if all 5 of us are sick.
Thanks for missing me Jenna...nice to know that I was noticed as being missing heheheh sorry to here that your little girl is waking every 2 hours, but like some of the other girls have said it is probably a growth spurt and that she will settle soon enough, as for the tummy time, do what works for you, we tend to do 2 or 3 sessions throughout the day for a few minutes, as Chrace doesnt like it on his tummy for too long...which is weird because he is a tummy sleeper, go figure, but do what works for you and your bubs
Mel sorry to hear about everything you have been going through but thanks for sharing and shedding some light onto the subject, I know that I have suffered more with self confidence and body image this time round and have never really had a problem with being 'down' with either of the others except perhaps around the three day mark when my milk came in and you just feel like **** and are tired etc...and again do what works for you guys with the controlled crying you gotta do what works for you, everyone has differing ways to raise their children and each child is different

welcome ellie13 and all the others, sorry cant recall everyones names

Kira you are I were thinking the same thing on the pressies idea, I was going to say a piece from the willow tree collection...how weird is that, didnt realise you could get them on ebay cheaper though...must remember that as I collect them, oh congrats on Maias growth aswell sounds like a lot of these bubbas are going to be 'big-ens'

on the length of time it takes to feed, Chrace feeds for about half an hour, then we wind him and then put him back on the same side for the fatty milk to fill him up...got that from my midwife as we were thinking we were having major wind issues as he was squirming and lifting his knees to his chest like he had wind when in actual fact she said that it is not always so and that having pain like symptoms can also be pain from not being full enough so putting him back on that side for a second top up feed makes sure that he is getting the fatty milk from behind to fill him up...has worked so far...perhaps it may do for some of you also...so all up he would probably feed to half and hour to an hour which the midwife said is normal...even though I wouldnt have thought so having so much milk myself and a fast let down, but like i said it is working for us..

Anyways my boy is awake and sucking his hands off so better go and settle into the couch for the next hour!!!

Hope you are all doing well, hope that your first day alone went well for those of you yesterday! My mum goes home on friday so next monday will be my first day at home alone....ahhhhhh scary

I had baby brain moment earlier today, and I am so annoyed about it. I went to get Ariel weighed and get her measurements and stuff done this morning, which is all good, everything is going well.
I had my hands full as I got to the car so I put her record book on the roof of the car. I have never put anything on the roof of the car before. I know you all know whats gonna happen. Well, I forgot about the book and got in the car and left. But decided that the car needed a wash, so I went through the carwash. I only remembered the book when I got home and went to have a look at it. Thankfully she is only 3.5 weeks old and I can remember most of her details. I am gonna call the hospital and see if I can get another book sent out to me, hopefully they can.

Welcome ellie13, glad to meet you!

Bridie put on another 130gms in a week, added 2.5cms to her length and 1.5cms to her head in 2 weeks, so things are progressing well, we still haven't quite made it to 3kgs yet though! (we're at 2940gms!)

The controlled settling is going well, it's actually not as strict as it sounds, we go in at anytime she is unsettled, not waiting a certain no. of minutes or anything. I know some people said they wouldn't do it, but she's really responding well, eating regularly and sleeping better. It's actually exactly the technique the health nurse gave to us at the settling talk we went to, we just weren't following it exactly.

We're considering heading to the country to visit parents next week...about 3 hours away for 2 nights. This is causing me anxiety already, but will be a good test for me with lots of support from family. Just need to be really organised!

Giggley - BUGGER on the book, what a good story to tell! I'm sure they'll send you another one, new mums must lose them all the time!

SJR - Good luck with the weight gain and visit to the paed.

Hope everyone is feeling good, and sickies get better!

 and welcome to ellie13 and happytobehere.

SJR- i know what its like with the sick 2 year old and the clingy baby. It is very exhausting.
Mel- thats great news about Bridie gaining more weight. If the settling is working then keep it up.

Charlie is doing better. He doesnt mind taking his medicine. He is being really piggy today and wanting to feed every hour. Hopefully it means that he is putting on some weight.

GTG feeding time.

He is just so cute, super awake and alert looking around at everything, follows his big sister and DH around the room with his eyes. Just gorgeous, he fell asleep while Mia was holding him yesterday, she thought it was fantastic!!

He is still feeding really well, I just can't believe that I actually have a supply, just so different to with Mia. I am getting up a stash in the freezer too which is awesome, even after a feed I can express about 80mls. I am just making so much milk, it can get very messy, milk going everywhere!!! LOL would still much rather that than what I had to fight with last time.

We have been pretty busy lately had my bil's 21st, my birthday, plus loads of outings with Ry and Mia. We took Mia and Ry to a play centre today so she could play with her cousin. It was lovely and she had a ball, Ry loved looking around at all the colours and lights.

Ry seems to be growing well, he is getting a bit of a double chin and some little rolls on his legs, LOL, so cute. Can't wait to weigh him again and measure him to see how much he is grown. I guess just to reassure myself that my milk is feeding him properly.

Anyway hope everyone and I hope all the little ones are doing well.

I am pretty excited... just did my 3rd ever express because Joel was asleep and my boob was hurting (he had only been asleep 2.5 hours since he last fed) Previously i have got 60mls from one boob. I have only ever done just the one boob as he was only feeding one side at a time. I only did one again, but got 100ml in 5 mins :D
He woke about 20 mins later and has chosen only to feed off the other anyway, so i have 100mls that i can freeze! YAY

That is AMAZING, I can still only express 10 mls a go, CHN says I'm not getting a let down when I express only when she feeds. sucks.

I'm having major trouble getting her to feed from my right side, she bucks and pulls off and carries on, even before she gets anywhere near it at all. Going to a BF drop in group with ABA on thurs, really hope they have some clue what is going on. Really starting to stress me out.

Evening ladies had a spare minute so thought I would drop in to say

All good here Lily is going well still quite windy around this time of night but we seem to have her settled and all of us in bed by 10.30pm so really can't complain. And she will feed again around 3am then usually up about 6.30 - 7am so we are happy with that and managing to get a few hours of good sleep. In saying that I'm not in denial and know it can all change next week

Made a doctors appt for her next week as she has tongue tie and an umbilical hernia that I want him to check out for me so might need to see a paed will wait and see. Also want him to check her out for he wind and vomitting my instincts tell me that she vomits way too much, the other 2 girls didn't do this at all so just want to be sure all is okay.

Okay better go and get the older 2 girls to bed

Ry was the same for a bit, so I ended up feeding laying on my side with him up against me. He then fed no problems. Now he is back to feeding normally from it, but if he does start to fuss I just change his position. Might be worth a shot for you. Try not to let it stress you out though, she will pick up on the fact that you are stressed about it. Hope the the ABA group helps.:hugs:

Hello everyone,

Have just been trying to catch up on all of the posts, and am glad to see that everyone seems to be quite well.

badgersmum yay on the extra mls expressed well done, I haven't even attempted expressing yet, as I couldn't do it last time, maybe I'll give it a go sometime this week..

Lissa7 Lily sounds like she has the same night routine as Aspen, and I am so thankful for the good nights sleep.

SJR yay on Rafferty's weight gain, and hope your household gets better soon, goodluck with the birthdays next week

Miamama ryan certainly is a cutie, and you look great too

willsmumma yay for Charlie smiling how cute

Giggley lol with the book, I'm sure they won't mind sending you another book

HRJ good luck with your app tomorrow

Sorry for anyone I have missed, this thread does move quickly

As for us, we have been truely blessed with a very good baby, she has no issues, is on a 4 hr routine during the day, and then sleeps a 6 hr block followed by a 5 hr block at night. so we are a very happy household. Will be seeing CHN on thurs to see how much weight she has gained, but seems to going great by what i can see. DD1 loves her "Baby Aspen" to bits, and is a very good big sister.

Well better get her up for her dreamfeed, then off to ZZZZZZ's for me Cheers

Hi there ladies-- hope everyone had a great nite and bubbas let us all have a reasonable sleep.

I decided not to express this time- and purposfully didn't buy a breast pump- as with DD I messed up with the breast pump big time, and ended up with mastitis 2 time is both of my breasts.... it is a very complicated game for me:confused:.

The maternal nurse came yesterday and Bianca has put on 150g since saturday- so I am:cloud9:.

About being fussy-Bianca also started to always fuss on the breast after a few minutes- and the middie said to take her off- burp her, change nappie if needed and put her back on. And it seems to work a bit. She just feeds for such short periods, but because she is putting on weight, the middie said that she is an efficient in sucking.

Anyways, tha's all for now folks, will try and pop in later.

You all have a great day.:flowerz:

Well, I forgot about the book and got in the car and left. But decided that the car needed a wash, so I went through the carwash. I only remembered the book when I got home and went to have a look at it. Thankfully she is only 3.5 weeks old and I can remember most of her details. I am gonna call the hospital and see if I can get another book sent out to me, hopefully they can.

DH did this with our old cordless phone when DS1 was born! Hope you get another book!

Welcome to Happytobehere and ellie13

Em - Ry is just gorgeous!

Lib: Good luck today with Charlie's weight :)

Sorry I haven't been around girls, flat out! DH went back to work Monday, we're going extremely well! The boys have been great for me :smiliedance:

I will come back later tonight when the boys are in bed, Deacon is being a little fussy going to sleep and he's just stirred again, so I have to fly. Have a great day :)

Well, maybe not  He fell back asleep

We have our 6 week checkup today. Deacon will be getting checked over for his reflux, he is such a happy child still regardless of the issue. He smiles, coos and is such a bright happ soul. Wyatt adores him to bits :cloud9:
DH and I were only saying last night, for a pair of ugly mo-fo's we pop out some cute kiddies :D

Our hot water system blew up last night, so Im just chilling waiting for the guy to install a new one. Luckily our neighbours are like a set of Grandparents to the boys, so we'll give them a bath over there tonight. Bless them!

Im so stoked, Im only 2 kgs away from my prepreg weight  Took me FOREVER after I had Wyatt.

Today is my last day with my midwife, Im going to miss her :(

It's mum's 50th bday next week, so excited, we're planning a nice lunch for her and a gorgous gold necklace that my brother organised, he has an eye for nice jewellery!

Ok, that's it for me, I better have something to eat before Deek wakes up! Wyatt is at Kindy today, I hardly got a goodbye before he took off to play with his mates LOL!

I have some good news. Someone found the record book and put it in to the lost and found at the shopping centre. I got a call this morning asking for me to come and pick it up. So exciting. I wasnt worried about the fact that I had lost the book cause the hospital was going to send one out (although they had run out of books so i had to call back in a couple of weeks).
I was more worried that someone was able to get our details.

Jane, how do you feel about naturopaths? When i got mastitus a few weeks back i got striaght over to mine and she gave me a tonic to take and the mastitius was completely gone within 2 days. And has not come back again.
Also get some powdered vitamin C and take it 3-4 times per day.

Hi Kira,
Yes i am naughty and do feed Jessica formula every now and then. I just dont know how much she is actually getting from my boobs, and when she cracks her tantrums of an evening i tend to just feed her a bottle of formula the last feed before bed (it settles her more and she sleeps for almost 5 hrs).
I also find that expressing and feeding her the "pre-made boobie juice" works well too.

i have not had mastitis yet, but i have had blocked ducts, i have tried massage, changing bubs position etc, but it has not gone away. Anyone got any suggestions, or will i alway have this?

Hi Ladies, just thought I would pop in to let you know I am still alive!! :)

Sam is doing really well, had our first visit to the clinic today and he has put on 330g's since birth - not bad in 13 days! Has grown 1/2 a cm and head has grown 1 & 1/2 cms - probably just "rounding out" after the vacuum delivery.

Having some dramas with the breast feeding, mainly due to a fast letdown problem. Poor little bugger keeps choking and gets these really nasty wet hiccups. Fairly unsettled too, although still giving us 3 - 4 hrs of sleep, so incredibly happy with that! Have just today resorted to a dummy, not my plan, but it does seem to help him settle quicker.

Also, I became an Aunty on Monday too! My younger Sister (who is in London) had her first - Caleb Robert. She ended up having an emergency C-section as he was breach, but both Mum & Bub are doing well. I know I am biased, but I think both our boys are gorgeous!! My folks are over the moon - they've gone from no grandkids to 2 in 10 days!

SJR - sorry to hear about your boobs/mastitis, sounds terrible you poor thing! :hugs:

Giggley - great news that you got your book back! I was worried about that, and have now found a spot in my handbag for it - just hope I don't lose THAT!

W&D's - bummer about your HWS! Lovely that you have great neighbours tho'!

Anyhow, his lordship is requesting my presence, so I'll be off now - take care all, will talk soon!! :flowerz:

Stephen (god love him) gave me a script for some antibiotics,...with 5 repeats! hope I dont need them all,.. Am a bit sad about my journey coming to an end with Stephen (*for this preg anyway),..... strange,..but he becomes such a major part of my world for 10months,..and I am always sad to see it end. Kira mine is the same somedays we have fed aysha a few feeds with formula. I only ever seem to run out when she keeps guzzling down and i run out she sometimes feeds constantly on my boobs so that's why.

i have expressed milk too for my cousins wedding on saturday.... on the boob she hardly feeds off i got about 40mls i dont know how much milk i got off the boob she feeds off because when i was expressing off it the bottom of the breast pump came off and i spilt some  but not that much thank god. what i did express was about 50 60 mls is this a good amount or not i have no idea

Evening all,

How have your days been? I have been really busy with housework but actually got quite motivated with it. I am so lucky that Maddison sleeps well during the day and normally lets me put her down and get on with things. Last night she didn't settle too well but she is doing fine.

We had her appointment with the paed yesterday and she is happy with how Maddison is doing. We have our eco on the 18th Sept to see how big the hole is but because her colouring is so good, she is so active, putting on weight and alert they are not too worried and think it is only small. My dh and I are obviously worried but hopefully it will be fine. We are hoping they will still let us fly with her.

We will go back and see the paed in 2 weeks also to see if anything has changed.

Maddison makes me chuckle whens he is feeding, it is almost like she gets all excited and starts fidgetting whilst sucking away. She is quite vocal anyway, but makes lots of "cooing" noises as though she is chatting. Going to be a chatterbox like her mum, nan and great nan.

Anyway enough about us, on to personals.

Ellie if not expressing works for you then it is best to continue as you are. You certainly don't want to get mastitis if you can avoid it. I have expressed a couple of times but only due to my breasts getting so hard when my milk first came in. The midwife lent me a pump and I expressed a little to soften them.

Glad to hear Bianca has put on weight, always reassuring isn't it. The paed weighed Maddison yesterday but didn't write it down and I forgot because I was too busy thinking about what else she was talking about.

Maybe I should try changing the nappy in the middle of a feed to encourage Maddison to take more. She is a great feeder though and is gaining weight, so not to worried about short feeds.

SJR sorry to hear about your mastitis, glad that your ob has given you medication to help. Maybe the tonic Kira mentioned, will help you.

Willsmumma hope Charlie has put on weight, keeping my :fingerscrossed: Good luck for the doctors appointment on Friday with regard to the hernia.

Beth that is fantastic news well done. I have not tried expressing since a couple of days after my milk came in. I really should try again, we bought an electric pump and I have not used it yet. I was also going to suggest expressing whilst you feed on the other breast. I did that with the pump the midwife lent me and although it was slightly difficult (small busted also) I managed. Keep it up!! :yelclap:

W&DsMama glad to hear Deacon is still a happy baby even though he has reflux. I am sure it would make it really unpleasant for you otherwise. Sorry to hear about your HWS, what a pain. Hopefully you get that repaired soon and what wonderful neighbours you have.

Congratulations on the weight loss, I haven't even weighed myself I really should. Then again I only have the shop scales to go by, used some scales in Target a few weeks before I had Maddison and it said I had put on about 8kgs during pregnancy, wonder if I have lost most of it yet??

Giggley that is wonderful news. Good to know there are still some honest people out there who will hand things in. It is always a worry when you have personal details written in there. I haven't even written our address in because we are moving in a couple of months, it seemed pointless. Glad you got it back.

tismum2b wow 5 hours?? I was thinking maybe I should do a formula feed before bed also. I am just purely breastfeeding at the moment, I may give it a go if the lack of sleep continues.

Sorry no suggestions regarding the blocked ducts, I would have said a hot bath, laying chest down in it and massaging them. If that doesn't work, sorry no ideas.

m2be fantastic news about Sam, sounds like he is doing well. Maddison chokes on occasion as well, I thought it was where she was sucking so hard but maybe it is also a fast letdown. I wouldn't have a clue!

3-4 hours sleep - wow that is good  isn't it sad when you think that is good  Hope for your sake that improves soon. I know some people on here are getting 5 hours, I can't wait!

Congratulations on becoming an auntie, where abouts in England is she? I am from the south east coast and my dh from Surrey. Glad they are doing well.

Well, I am going to go and spend time with my dh now whilst Maddison is still sleeping. Well she is stirring now but it will give us a few minutes. I guess I will then get her ready for bed and put her down, we didn't want to wake her up.

Good night all, speak tomorrow. I will probably spend a bit more time on the computer tomorrow so anyone that has posted since I typed this, I will catch up with you then. Sorry for those I did miss.

I used to when BFing Deek, I just didn't have enough to keep up with the little guy, hungry hungry hippoo he is!

That's fantastic! I bet you are relieved!

We have our new hot water system, the boys had a lovely warm bath last night, It was great to wash my hair without having it cold like yesterday LOL!

I had my last midwife appointment yesterday, Deek gave her a huge grin before she left, it melted her!

My 6 week checkup went great, Deek has silent reflux and is on Mylanta, seems to be doing the trick he slept 6 hours last night and it was actually 7 hours between feeds  He then had a bottle and went back to sleep! It's a relief knowing that he's comfortable again, still likes sleeping on his belly though.

I gotta fly, boys to organise and brekky to be had before DH goes to work.

Have a great day girls!

Beth what a wonderful sleeper!!! Obviously it is not nice that Deacon has silent reflux but at least he is now on some medication and it seems to be helping him. At least you will find that he shouldn't suffer as much and that you get some sleep.

grass is always greener

Kir- the amount you expressed is great. Also, it is easier to do it in the morning when your supply is greater. You can keep adding to your stash over the next 2 days to make sure you have enough. It takes 1 hour for you supply to build back up so if you feed, wait for 1.5hrs and get out what you can. This will also increase your supply, by putting more demand on it. IYKWIM.
Jane- Thats gold, how do you think you will go convincing him to leave his wifey??;)
Kira- We have to top up charlie with 50mls of formula after every feed due to his weight issues.
Giggley- Thats great news about your book.
Beth- Thats great to know that the mylanta is helping his silent reflux. Can i ask, what are the symptoms of silent reflux?
Jenna- :fingerscrossed: that maddisons check up goes well.
Sorry if i missed anyone.
The nurse didnt end up coming yesterday as she has the flu, she rang me 2hrs after she was due to arrive and told me. She did leave a msg on my phone but i never checked it. I am going to get Charlie weighed on Friday at his appt with the clinic. I cant get him into the doctors until monday to get his checkup from the hospital visit.

Gonna do my best to catch up... liitle miss due up in amin and the floor needs vaccumming but here goes lol...

Hope the the ABA group helps.

Thanks heaps! She has been doing better, I'm not gonna go to the meting.... to be quite honest I feel a little intimidated! The ABA women I met with my son, kind of well, frightened me with their passion lol. We will see if we can manage it, with all the wonderful support I receive here

As for us, we have been truely blessed with a very good baby, she has no issues, is on a 4 hr routine during the day, and then sleeps a 6 hr block followed by a 5 hr block at night. so we are a very happy household. Thats wonderful!! Tell me more about dreamfeeds would you?, I vaguely remember from DS but would love to know more!

Jenna I didn't realise Maddison had a hole that was causing her murmur, I must have missed that somewhere along the line....how frightening for you! is it in her valve or somewhere else? Please let me know how you go with her echo, we have heart probs in our family, I understand how frustrating it can be at times to get concrete answers. I will PM you back when I get a chance, but my thoughts are with you. I'm sure she will be fine, she looks so happy and is thriving :yelclap:

Hi  to anyone I've missed, hope everything is travelling well, I enjoy catching up on all your news.

Millie is one month old today! :( makes me so sad.... I even cancelled hubby's vasectomy appointment and refuse to give away my maternity clothes! and this from someone who swore black and blue they were only having one! Just as exciting though is... I HAVE BEEN BREASTFEEDING FOR A MONTH!!! Snaps for me! Ha ha I got a let down as I typed that how randomn! Big deal for me, I'm so thrilled :D

Also I did the preschool run successfully by myself today! Pretty darn proud of myself! :fingerscrossed: the rest of the day is as successful, heading out to get hubbys 30th b'day press. Gonna buy him a wii... although I am sure I will kick myself when he wants to play when I wanna watch all saints! (yes we only have one tv!) gonna get wii fit, might help with the kgs!

Hope everyone's day is travelling well, talk soon,

Beth what a pain!! That is really frustrating when you either don't get the message or they don't contact you at all. At least she tried to leave a message I suppose. Did you sit at home waiting for her to arrive? I hate that so much, it isn't so bad if you are home anyway, but of course you rush around trying to get everything done so you are ready for them and then they never show. :hair:

We were told our rental agents were going to inspect the house a month after we moved in. That was all fine, but I thought I better clear the garden of all the leaves and get rid of any trace that the dog has been in the house (outside dogs only - she only goes in the tiled family room anyway) and then she didn't turn up. I wouldn't have minded so much if I wasn't pregnant and having to bend over and get up and down all the time.

Beth my dad had a small hole in his heart (murmur) when he was younger and was monitored until he was 13. Apparently (which I didn't know) his brother and sister also had one. It didn't really cause them any problems and they closed up. When Steve told his mum about Maddison's murmur, she said that her mum had also had one and someone else in their family. Gees, if we had known we may have got them to check her heart more closely in the u/s. They didn't actually see any problems at the 20 week scan so I am assuming that if it was a big hole they would have picked it up then.

The paediatrician said that sometimes the holes can be as small as a pin head or up to about 7-8mm I am hoping it is small, which she seemed to think it was.

She is really thriving and putting on weight, alert and active and has good colouring as I mentioned before so we are not too worried about it. It is just the idea that she has a hole there that bothered us. Until we have the eco, they won't know where it is or the extent of it, we will find out on the 18th Sept.

i assume the heart problems in your family haven't affected your two?

Okay, well I need to go and walk the dog and I may even go and get my hair trimmed. I have been saying I would for about 6 months now and it desperately needs it.

Just a quick question before I go. Maddison is fast asleep at the moment, but keeps letting out high pitched squeals, what could be causing it? Wind? She does it during the night too and she doesn't normally cry that much apart from the obvious.

Also, I am confused about when she should be having a check up, is it just the 6 week one now? I wonder how I can get her weighed around here, can you just walk into chemists here in Oz and get it done?

Speak later all.

Itcould be wind Jenna, Deacon does it from time to time, lets out a squeal, wiggles and then lets out a few farts  then is back asleep again!

Thanks for the lovely posts girls :cloud9: Im just so glad I caught the reflux before we were at odds trying to work out what was going on, luckily he had the same symptoms as Wyatt bar the projectile vomitting like Wyatt used to do!

Lib: Signs of reflux can vary... projectile vomitting after a feed, screaming when laying on their back, only wanting to sleep on their tummy's or sit upright, always bringing their feeds up in their mouths and then swallowing it, a blackish tongue (Wyatt had this) and just generally very unsettled day and night.

Hi all, just thought I'd pop in while i've got a quiet minute to see how everyone is going. We are going ok here, Thomas went to the docs today as he still have a blocked up nose and having trouble breathing. Thankfully, the flu hasn't moved into his chest but we have to continue using the nose drops and sucker and hopefully he'll be better soon.

Libby, :banghead:doesn't it make you mad when people don't turn up like that.

SJR, sorry to hear about the mastitis, hope it clears up quickly for you :hugs:

Em, Ryan is a little cutie :cloud9:

Kira, we have to top up Thomas with formula too. At the moment, he's having both boobs and then between 80-130mls of formula.

Beth, glad they worked out that Deacon has silent reflux. Hopefully with the mylanta, he's more comfortable.

Poppet, wow your little girl is a great sleeper at night. We are still waking every 3-4 hours for feeds.

Giggley, good to hear that you got your book back.

Jenna, glad to hear that Maddison is doing well. Thomas also does those squels, I've always put it down to wind.

Beth thanks for that, I assumed it was wind as she seems fine in herself. I know she does suffer from wind a fair bit and I am wondering if I should cut out gluten and dairy for a while and see if that is causing her some problems. My dh is a coeliac and lactose intolerant, his mum and nephew have very mild symptoms so it is possible she will inherit it.

Glad once again that they managed to get Deacon onto Mylanta before it causes him too much trouble. What age do they start to "grow out" of it, I assume they don't have it long term.

Mel I hope Thomas is better soon, at least it hasn't moved onto his chest even though having the flu itself is unpleasant. Hopefully it won't last much longer and he will be bright as day soon.

Well we popped out to the shops to see a friend and had a nice chat. She really enjoyed cuddling Maddison, her daughter is almost 7 months old and she so wanted to cuddle a "baby" again. Bless her!! We had so many people coming up to us in the cafe to comment on Maddison's hair :D everyone loves it. I know it is mainly just because they like talking about babies and coming over to have a look but it makes you feel so proud as a mum. I am so in love with Maddison it is unbelievable and I can't imagine life without her now. I just can't wait to get more sleep

Hey Beth, Is Mylanta on a script? Aj was on Losec which was a script med, was wondering if i could try some with Millie before I head down the stronger meds track. She is doing the sleeping upright and screaming laying down thing. still vomiting 3 hours after a feed.... so on and so forth....

Beth I suppose a year is a long time to suffer from reflux but at least he did grow out of it. I can't imagine having to watch them suffer for so long though.

Beth hopefully that will help Millie then, hopefully she doesn't have reflux but it sounds like she may do from the symptoms.

Well just a quick message from me as I want to go and make Steve and drink and breakfast in bed. I always used to do that (I spoil him I know ) but I have been trying to do it again since Maddison was born, well on the days when I feel awake!!!

I am so excited, Maddison slept for 4 hours last night and then 3 hours after that feed. She made her little squeals again but I checked on her, she was ok so I left her before getting her up. It seemed to work, I also alternated the breast during the feed which seemed to help also. Woohoo!! I know it can quickly go back, I am just hoping it doesn't.

Can you make me brekkie in bed too please!Hope your hubby knows how lucky he is! Mike left at 5:30 this morning,...the kids were already up, and I was just heading back to bed in the hope of getting 1hr more sleep before starting the day:cool:

Woo hoo on Maddys sleep!

Sounds like Millie has some sort of reflux too.....hmmm,.. nasty:hugs:

Lissa - I am so up for #4,....but DH isnt.... apparently I have to go back to work to pay for our reno and new car:rolleyes: Still,....I have a couple of years up my sleeve. Hey,...did you end up topping her up with formula last night?

Lahri - pretty sure most of the large chemists have baby weighing scales,.... or you can go to your local health clinic. Oh,...and they are due for a check at 6weeks,..and then (if you are vacc'ing) they are due for first vacc's at weeks.

Raining here today,... damn,.. what to do with 3 kids all day in the rain:confused:

Morning SJR

Sure, if you want to move all the way down to ACT to live with a landshark (our dog ) then I will make you breakfast in bed also.

He knows he is really spoiled but doesn't expect it, which is why I continue. If it was expected it would stop very abruptly!!!

I am taking Maddison to a drop in clinic today so she can get weighed, measured etc there. They have a drop in session every day, also at a few different locations around the city. Thank you for the information, I had already booked her in for her 6 week check and her immunisations are booked in for just before we go to the UK. I don't like it when they give so many jabs to children but then also understand the need for them. I am not sure I would go down the homeopathic route even though I know so many people that do. I guess I am just sticking with what I know. You go homeopathic don't you?

Give the older two rain macs, wrap them all up warm and take them for a lovely walk so they can jump in the puddles!!! :yelclap: Always a favourite especially when mum says they are allowed to do it.

Going to give Maddison her bath and then get up and organised. Speak later, hope you find something for your 3 to do.

Hi all,

I've been in and out catching up, didn't have much to add. Hope you're all doing well.

I have another visit from the enhancement unit today and a visit to the dr to discuss among other things my anxiety. Had a bad night last night (not looking for sympathy), but felt really anxious in the hour around when Bridie was due to wake up and apprehensive about the night ahead, just don't seem able to think rationally. Had a quite good night and she seems to have gone down again now too. Hopefully a chat with the dr will help.

Bridie's immunisations are due on sept 5th and she's weighed every 2 weeks (ATM), Lahri, do you have a MCHN? I would have thought they would be weighing Maddison, maybe it's different in ACT??? Hope she does well today anyway.

As for reflux, Bridie is really sicky too, although she doesn't seem upset by it so I figure it's just overflow, what's everyone else's opinion?, maybe I'll ask the dr that too. She's happy to lay on her back and only gets really upset if she does a big spew in her sleep, which isn't often. We've just made possetting cloths and bibs a major part of our lives, although the bibs are all too small!

Have a good one everyone.

Mel I hope all goes well at your appointment today with the enhancement unit lady and the dr. I hope it is helping you by talking to them both, you sound like you are doing so well and you should be proud of yourself. Sending lots of :hugs: your way. I hope you manage to get some rest today then if you didn't sleep well last night. We are always here if you need to talk or get really anxious, just know you are doing a great job and that Bridie is thriving and that is down to what you are doing.

SJR okay, for some reason I just thought you went homeopathic. I don't know why they don't numb the area slightly before jabbing babies/children, it would make it so much easier. I have actually seen some type of cream/lotion that you apply to their skin before the injection which is supposed to help. I don't like seeing her in pain so thought about getting some. How silly am I??? I am not one of these people that hates jabs but when it is your baby in pain or upset it isn't nice. I am a tough old cookie  and have a very high pain threshold.

Anyway, going to hang my washing out and get organised otherwise I will never get anywhere.

Take care

I think its called Emla cream - but not knowing whether it is suitable for littlies,.... When Raff had a blood test at 12hours old, they gave him a tiny amount of glucose in a vial,...glucose works as a pain inhibitor in babies,... it worked so well that he fell asleep during the blood test! So, you could ask your GP for that,...or get some from the chemist and take it with you!

I am a miseryguts when it comes to injections,.. I cry every time!

I do find though,..that if you breastfeed during the jabs, they are a lot less traumatic,.. Jasper never even cried!!!!

Jenna, if you BF while they get the needles, the BFing sedates them and they dont feel it. I had to do this while Charlie had his heel prick test and also while he was at hospital the other night while they tried to get blood out. He didnt even flinch while the inserted the catheter twice and had to sqeeze out the blood.
Melmc- :hugs:, i have had anxiety and panic attacks, i know how you feel. Talk as much as you can about how you feel, tell the doctor everything, it does get better (although atm it may not feel like it.)
Lissa- GL with the pickup.
SJR- i too am a sook. When Charlie had the blood tests at the hospy i had to turn my head, i couldnt watch.

Well i took Charlie to the clinic today and ......... we have a gain!!!!!
He put on 110gms in just over a week!!!!!!:smiliedance:
I was so happy to see those numbers climb instead of fall. Its such a relief.
Although now the nurse thinks there may be a problem with his eyes. I have to get the doctor to look at them on monday. My sis had a turned eye so i have to be careful. He is filling out his skin a bit more. Also the nurse told me that i can do his comp feeds with the EBM. So i can stop with the formula.

Hi all, been missing in action for a week as we had paed appt and gyno appt in Mackay (3 hours away). Just a fleeting visit sorry, so sorry for no personals. I am following the Tizzie Hall routine for Riley and just started so trying to get it all happening. Really need a routine this time and a good one at that, having a toddler and all!

My appt went well, wound is had healed really well this time. Had a papsmear and find out results in 3 weeks. So hopefully it is still only low grade or even disappeared - NOW WOULDN'T THAT BE GR8.

Riley's appt didn't go so well. I have just been told by paed he has a heart murmor. This has really put a good run to a negative spin. Not only has he got a belly button hernia, tongue tie, hyraceal (fluid on the testicals), but now a god dam HEART MURMOR. Poor tyke. I need to do some research to find out if I should be worrying or not! I guess I am just guilt ridden atm! Wondering what I did wrong when I was pregnant. And also wondering if other things are going to pop up with his health in the future. I know I should be positive, but I just feel ordinary - like I have caused these things. Sorry for the downer gals, just needed to vent!

:hugs: Oh darl please don't blame yourself sometimes there is no explanation for these things, you are a beautiful mum and you are doing your best.

Lily has tongue tie and a umbilical hernia will get my obs to check it all out again at our 8 week check up and then refer me onto a paed if he thinks we need to. Have you done much research on these two things??? I haven't as I personally think you can read too much, sometimes the internet can be dangerous and I would rather wait until the obs checks it all out.

Big hugs to you and your family and remember we are all here to chat to when you need us ;)

Thanks, I am sure he will be ok. Just was havin a downer.

I guess my first son was just such a severe refluxer, tube fed and allergies, that I was hoping to have a good run this time. Which things have been going gr8 with his feeding which I was so excited about - like I was doing something right for a change, and now in the last week his feeding has subsided alot, only feeding 5 mins at a time and even that is a struggle!! On and off, on and off, lots of wind, just a vicous circle.

Trying to do this routine of Tizzie hall and it is prooving quite challenging.

He was feeding super on 3 hourly and then it just recently went haywire, then changed to 4 hourly for a couple of days (where not much improvement), and now have started Tizzie's routine.

Hope this all makes sense, I was cruizin, but now I feel frazzeled, now that things have gone bad!

As for your question, apparently the hernia should correct itself, otherwise a minor operation. My paed said it might get worse before it gets better, but the belly button should eventually be an inny not an outy.

As for the tongue tie, I was wondering if him pulling on and off had something to do with his tongue tie, but I really don't think sooo now???? I am confused. Anyway we got it cut when he was circumcised just to be sure! Also they can possibly have talking probs later, so I just thought for the sake of a little nik (cut) now, it was worth it. It was a 2 sec snip and he was fine with it, nothing a feed wouldn't fix when he was crying.

Afternoon all,

How are we today? Well I went to get Maddison weighed and I have worked out why she is only got 1.5 to 2 hours between feeds. The nurse (or whatever she was) confirmed that my suspicions were correct, so hopefully we will get more of the 3-4 hours that we had last night.

She has gained 340g in 10 days  what a little porker. She is now 8lb 1oz which is great (3690g) we are really pleased with her weight gain, she did say that it was a lot for a baby of only 3 weeks but we think it's great.

Anyway, I think I said that last night she slept for 4 hours then 3 hours between feeds which was wonderful. I tried feeding her from one breast and then winding her and swapping to the other (had only been feeding from one before) it worked a treat. When I told the lady today what I had been doing previously, she told me that is why she is only going 2 hours. She is not getting enough as the first 10-15 minutes is the milk she needs after that she has drained the breast. She asked who told me to feed that way and I said the midwives at the hospital, she was quite frustrated.

My mum had been asking me why I was feeding this way and said that she used to offer both breasts and we used to go 4 hours. I am quite frustrated that I have been doing it "wrong" for the past 3 weeks. Of course it is not wrong, but not the best way, at least she has been getting enough though, which is proof through the great weight gain.

Sheree I am glad you are healing well, that is great news. With regard to the heart murmur, Maddison has also been diagnosed with one, we have been referred to a paed and are going for an eco in a couple of weeks time. Are they offering you an eco? My dad had a heart murmur as did his siblings and so did my dh's nan. It seems to have been passed on in this case.

The paed told us that heart murmurs are caused through a hole in the heart and that sometimes these can be the size of a pin head (1mm) up to 7-8 mm. Of course the larger the hole the more serious the murmur. We are having the eco to determine the extent of the hole and then they will decide what action to take. The paed said that most of the time the hole closes up itself over the years and doesn't cause most people any problems. She said normally if the baby's skin colouring is nice and pink, they are feeding well and gaining weight, active and alert and not getting "really" cold hands and feet or blue lips then they are normally fine.

I hope that hasn't added to your worries but it helped reassure us because Maddison is gaining weight, very alert and active and has very pink skin. Hopefully you will find that his murmur is nothing serious also and that he will go on to lead a healthy life. I will see the paed again in 2 weeks so if you have any questions, I can always try to ask them whilst I am there and can let you know how our appointment went. Keeping my :fingerscrossed: that it is a small hole also.

Shell good to hear from you and know that you are well. Hope to see you around a little more. Take care.

Lisa hope your day went well and that it wasn't too hectic. With any luck your evening will go well also and I am sure the girls will love going to McDonalds for dinner an a play.

SJR thanks for that, I will take a look at it. I am not too worried really I just don't want to see her in pain if there is a way to avoid it. I am not a fussy mum by any means just want to avoid pain for her if possible. I breast fed her during the heal prick test and she went mad and screamed, so I don't think breast feeding is going to be a distraction for her. Maybe I could try the glucose but the pain is only short lived so she will be okay if not. Thank you for the website also, will take a look.

Thanks willsmumma for that, as I just said above Maddison cried even though I breast fed her during the heal prick, hopefully she will be better this time with the jabs, if not, it will be over quickly. I will still get upset though.

Congrats on the weight gain, that is fantastic.

Well my dh is almost home, so I am going to go and put the kettle on and put all the bits I brought away  nope going to have to show him the cute little outfits I brought her first. Not that he worries about what I buy but I always feel guilty being as I am not working. We have been given and brought so many clothes that I haven't really needed to buy any, but he doesn't want me to miss out on the shopping trips that all the other mums get to do. He is fantastic, I love him to bits!!!

Speak later all.

Nope, it's just the normal Mylanta, do get her checked at the GP though. Hope it's not reflux hun, poor little one. Deacon has been so settled now that he's on it, he doesn't need it all the time, we have learnt to read his queues when he's in pain with it. He is still sleeping on his tummy, he does the longest sleeps when he's content on his tummy. He's sleeping 6 hours straight some stints  So we know that we're doing something right!

I have survived my first week alone with the boys with flying colours :smiliedance:We have a great little routine (not set in stone though) for the three of us during the day, we go to the park, go for walks and visit friends :D The boys have been great for me, Wyatt's attitude has improved 100% over the last few weeks. Im so proud of him :goodvibes: He's grown into such a beautiful young boy.

He has certainly grown in height over the last week, OMG and the amount of food he is eating LOL! Last night alone he had 5 fish fingers, half a cucumber, one tomato, some corn, a slice of cheese for dinner, then he asked for some spagetti, ate that tin and then asked for baked beans and ate that tin!!
Tonight he had spagetti bol, had seconds, then an orange and then a vegemite sandwich! I cannot imagine what he'll eat when he's a teenager!

I also thought I would add my two bobs worth in to Badgersmum.

Mylanta is brilliant for soothing and cooling the throat. You have to make sure you get Mylanta "ORIGINAL" as there are different types of mylanta. We use to give Lachlan (our first son) 1ml before and after feeds if needed and also in between one feed to the next. Worked wonders.

As for the Losec, that is the strongest thing on the market. But, we also use to give Lachlan, Domperidome. It is meant to help with nausesa. As lachlan use to vomit from one feed to the next. He just vomitted all the time really. Domperidome is also known as Motillium.

Hope that info helps.

Well, visited the dr and now have anti-anxiety medication and a referral to a support centre, plus my own councellor for a few weeks...hopefully things are looking up, although I was still panicky at the 6pm feed. I told DH maybe I didn't want a baby...maybe that's what this is all about, it all happened so fast too (getting pregnant), but when I was feeding her, I was thinking 'how could anyone NOT want this???' she's so perfect!!! The enhancement unit visit went well too (she's the councellor), I'll see her again next weds. Thanks everyone for your support...I hope I'm the only PND sufferer on this thread!

I can finally go off my BP medication though - so some good news from the dr.

Sheree - sorry to hear about all your issues! The heart murmour thing is something the MCHN mentioned to us too, I think they may have had a problem identifying them recently, she was quite anxious that we have Bridie checked out, although apparently she didn't think she had one. Maybe the MCHN's are just not picking them up. Good that you know though...apparently usually they don't cause any problems, my 52 year old uncle JUST found out he has one, he's had no symptoms his whole life! How funny that you give domperidone - motillium is the medication I had to take to make my milk come in...I just weaned myself off those!

Hope everyone is happy and well rested (hehe! yeah right!)

Hi to everyone else

Well we got some bad news today, it looks like the company DF works for are shutting down their mill here in Rockhampton so DF will be out of a job :hissy: We will know for sure or at least have a better understanding on what's happening on monday when the CEO comes up. It is such bad timing at the moment with me being on maternity etc.

Apparantly, there is a chance that he will get a transfer to one of the other 2 mills down in either Toowoomba or Dalby which i wouldn't mind too much as most of our family is down in brissy but then I'd be leaving all my wonderful friends up here and my brother, sister and niece.

I dunno what's going to happen, i'm just stressing out a little......i just hate the unknown :o Also, we have been sort of starting toTTC bub #2 and that will have to go on hold until we know what's happening :(

Any sort of feelings like this from 2 weeks can be PND, PLEASE see your health careprovider about it, PND is a very serious health issue. I suffered with DS1 and was in denial until he was 6 months old when I had a nervous breakdown from the stress.

Thanks girls- I will keep an eye on it. I think though that I might wait untill my sister and her family leave (they are staying at our hous atm) cause I might just be feeling down from all the bussiness of this household atm. Also, because of the c-sec I haven't been outside of the house (except for one trip to medicare office), so that might be a contributing factor too.

Hopefully once I start getting out and driving, it might make me feel better. So I won't panic just yet, but I will deffinatelly keep an yeye on it. It's just that I constantly feel like crying, and just don't feel like talking or socializing with anybody....I just want to be alone with bubs and sleep. So I will deffinately talk to someone if it doesn't go away.

Thank you for caring guys.

And how is everybody doing??? Hope you are all aving a nice weekend.

Bianca was up every 2 hours last nite- so I didn't get much good sleep, but I will try and have a nap soon, and also try and go for a walk around the neighbourhood. The weather is nice- so I should get out and get some fresh air.

He is filling out his skin a bit more. Also the nurse told me that i can do his comp feeds with the EBM. So i can stop with the formula.

Yay on the weight gain Lib, We have to watch Aysha's eye too because Luke has a turned eye... so he is freaking out that she will get it. Will see you at the wedding in an hour

:hugs: Don't blame yourself hun.... somethings you just cant help no matter how hard you tried to stay healthy during your pregnancy.

Yay on that huge weight gain.... and it's so good that you have worked out why she wasn't sleeping. I just love Maddison's rocket hair... so cute... my old bosses little girl had hair like Maddison's and that's what she called it rocket hair.

Aww that's so good that they are helping you out so much hun and to have your own counsellor will be really good for you.

Aww i hope you find out more answer's on monday.... and then if you have to move or nt you can work out where you stand with ttc #2

Oh yeah- Bianca is 2 weeks today- yeay!!!!

Yay on reaching the 2 week mark.... Hopefully after your sister leaves you can start to feel normal again.... but hopefully you just have the baby blues but if you do have PND were all here to support you.

Well it's my cousin's wedding in an hour so exciting should be a good day. So excited to see some of my family i haven't seen in ages and a friend who came up from sydney last night... will be good to catch up on old times and stuff.

well i better go and get ready talk to you all later

Hi all, this thread moves so quick I can barely keep up LOL!!

Poppet - thanks hun, I felt great straight away after giving birth this time which was soo different from last time, felt like I was on cloud 9!!:cloud9: Glad to hear Aspen is doing so well.

Ellie13 - Glad to hear Bianca is putting on weight. Hun if you are feeling down head to your Dr and have a chat they will ask all the right questions and, even if it is just the baby blues you will have gotten some things off your chest. Oh and congrats on her hitting 2 weeks old!!

SJR - hows the mastitis hun, hope that it clears up and gives you a break you poor thing.

Bep - Glad things are going so well with your DH back at work. I only have 1 week left with DH at home, so I am putting my routine for during the day into place now so its hopefully not too bad when he is at work. Poor Deek re the silent reflux glad the milanta is working for him though.

Giggley - glad someone found your record book.

m2be - re the fast letdown, I am the same so I have to try and lean back or lay back while feeding so the Ry has to do the sucking himself rather than my milk just pouring into him. If I am leaning too far forward he can choke on my milk and then pull off and totally cover us both in milk LOL!!

Aysha'smummy - that amount is great! Straight after a feed I will get about 80mls but if he goes longer and I express between feeds I get almost 200mls. I seem to have alot in there!! LOL!! I hope the wedding goes well and you have a good time!

Jenna - glad to hear everything is going well with Maddison. Glad to hear that now you are feeding both sides she is sleeping longer for you. Gotta love your DH re shopping mine is much the same, I always ask him if its okay to go shopping and he always tells me I dont need to ask just do what I want LOL!! He took me shopping during the week which was fab!! I now have a new dress, cardie, 6 new tops, 2 new hats and 2 new scarves!! Plus I have to get a couple more things this week. It was so much fun. Oh and I am in all my pre pregnancy clothes again so its like I have a whole new wardrobe!!!

Badger'smum - congrats on hitting 1 month of brestfeeding. Every day I clock up I celebrate!!:goodvibes:

Mummy_to_thomas - Poor little Thomas I hope his cold clears up asap. Thats awful re your DF's work, I hope you guys get some answers soon.

Shell - glad to hear you guys are doing so well.

Lissa7 - Hop the pick up went well and the girls enjoyes McDonalds!

Willsmumma - so great to hear about Charlie's weight gain!! Great to hear you can do his comp feeds with EBM too!!

Sheree - please don't put the guilt on yourself hun I am sure everything will be okay.:hugs:Ry was back to his birth weight of 4.05kg at 9 days. Haven't had his weighed again yet, will this coming week. He is definately filling out all his clotes more now thought, and is growing out of some of his socks and pants!!

Melmc - Glad to hear that everything went well with your appointment.

Well things are going pretty well here, much smoother than I anticipated, though I am sure things could change at any moment!! My sister had her second bub, a little girl called Amelia Rose by C-section yesterday. Still havent gotten to see her yet as she is in special care due to some fluid on her lungs should hopefully get to see her tomorrow. Can't wait to see her and Ry next to each other!!

Well better be off, have to check on my slowcooker and have some washing to fold before the little man wakes for his next feed. Plus I have to head to the shops to get a couple of things. Will try and check in later.

Wow - what a catch up. Hope the wedding go-ers enjoy themselves.

Had a pretty good day, slept on and off until about 12:30pm (between feeds at 6am, 8:30am and then 12:30pm!), now I'm worried I won't sleep tonight! Didn't sleep very well last night even when Bridie was sleeping, DH was snoring too, had to head to the spare bed in the study! Managed to get a walk in for about 1/2 hour too, and the house looks 'reasonable'!!!

Bridie is 5 weeks old on Monday and still weighed only 6lb7oz last Tuesday, which is still less than 3kgs, (2940gms rings a bell, can't be bothered looking it up!), she's definitely a littley, but gaining weight at the right rate apparently!

Not really sure on the let-down thing, is it something you feel? I feel the same the whole way through the feed, but Bridie is such a spewer that she often covers us both with milk, I was worried, but as she's gaining weight, I try not to. Getting used to everything being covered in spew, me, the bed clothes, the baby...quite funny now!

Hope everyone has had a good day.

Deek is 7 weeks old today and just hit 5kgs this week, I wouldn't worry about his size hun, bubba's are meant to be chubby :) He's doing great!

Good morning all,

How are we all today and did you have a nice day yesterday? We had a pretty busy day but I don't mind that, it just means we will probably end up doing nothing today. Oh well, we have had to pay for our flights back to the UK so we can't really afford to do too much at the moment. When you go out, you always end up buying something, so may just avoid it!!

Well, Maddison has gone back to her 2 hourly feed, I have been trying to feed her on both breasts in one feed but however much I try to keep her awake to feed on the other side she is fast asleep. I have tried changing her nappy and winding her but she doesn't seem interested. The clinic nurse suggested I take her to a sleep group, I don't think she is THAT bad!!! She is only 3 weeks old after all, I know they should be going for 4 hours but we have had a few 3 hours so I don't mind.

Anyone else still getting the 2 hour feeds during the day and night?

Mel I am glad that things are going well for you. Bridie is a beautiful little girl, she is perfect and you are a great mum. Even if you are the only PND sufferer on this thread, you are doing so well and we are all here for you, even if we can't understand totally how you are feeling. :hugs:

I can't believe Bridie is 5 weeks old already, she is so tiny, but it sounds like she is feeding really well now, so she will gain weight quickly.

With regard to the let down feeling, I don't get any feeling whilst Maddison is feeding, but on occasion I get a let down between feeds and it is like a tingly sensation in the nipple. Well that is what it feels like for me, not sure if that is any help. Sometimes my milk comes out so quickly it makes her cough and choke on it a little, she seems to be able to control her intake a little better now though.

Ellie I hope you are feeling better today, how are things going for you? My sister's twins both had umbilical hernias and they did disappear after a while. Hopefully Bianca won't suffer too much from it, I am sure it will be fine. :hugs: Hopefully what you are feeling is just the baby blues but I have seen from your later posts that you are keeping an eye on it and hopefully after your visitors have left you will start to feel better about things.

Congratulations on reaching 2 weeks. I can't believe Maddison is 4 weeks old on Thursday.

mummy_to_thomas sorry to hear about your dp's job, hopefully he will get a transfer and if it is close to your family then at least you will have that support and company. It is a shame though when you have to leave your friends etc. I know that from when we moved down from the Blue Mountains to ACT, I had made friends up there since moving from England and then we had to move. Keeping my :fingerscrossed: that he does get the transfer or finds another job locally.

Kiralee as I said above she has gone back to the 2 hour feeds but hopefully she will get used to the new way of feeding and then go to 4 hours regularly. I love her hair also, I just hope it doesn't all fall out. Wishful thinking!!! Hope you had a good time at the wedding, I bet it was lovely.

Sheree, I had Maddison weighed on Friday and she weighed in at 8lb 1oz, 3690g they said that is a gain of 340g in 10 days.

Em the sleeping didn't last. We gave her a dummy this morning (I hate them ) but it stalled her for another 20 minutes which took her up to 3 hours. We were happy with that for now. Sounds like you have a great dh also, it is always nice to have new clothes. I was wearing my normal jeans during my contractions so I certainly had no problems fitting back into them, my other clothes however fit me again as I couldn't wear those after 8 months.

Did you get to see your niece?

Beth how are you doing? I hope little Millie is doing well.

Sarah haven't heard from you in a while, how are your 4 doing?

Kara I hope all is well with you, let me know how you all are.

Sasha I assume all is good at your end, I hope you are getting some rest whenever you can and not rushing around your house trying to get some of those jobs you didn't get chance to do done.

Sorry to anyone I have missed or to anyone who posted in between me typing this.

Have a great day all. Speak soon.

That's right :D Boys are cuter being chubby too :D Wyatt was a chubby bubby. Deek hasn't quite got the chubbiness yet, but he does have chubby cheeks which I cannot stop kissing :o

Busy weekend here, had a birthday party yesterday, had an awesome time, the boys were exhausted after getting home, I got to show off Deek to the Gold Coast Bub Hub girls, I had them clucking

Today we're off to lunch with the inlaws, Wyatt helped me with the groceries this morning, so now Deek is asleep, DH and Wyatt are playing trucks and Im catching up on here :)

Hello!

We’ve had a rough couple of days with Millie. She is just so unsettled, waking from a deep sleep and fussing so much feeding, pretty obvious reflux to me… see the GP on Wednesday. Thankyou Beth for your replies re the meds. We’ll get it sorted soon. I did take her to the chiropractor Friday (oh my word that was stressful she cried so much!) but she has been settled since…. Maybe it helped more than I thought it would.

She s growing soooo big! She is out of all her newborn stuff and really stretching the 000s. She is in 00 grow suits – just! Even they won’t fit for long. I really can’t believe it. Her eyes seem to get bluer which thrills me, DH and DS have dark brown eyes, I was so hoping hers would be blue like mine! Her hair is falling out and coming through very thick and blonde, lovely! She did a 5.5 hour stretch last night, unfortunately I spent the first two doing washing and the last hour lying ther wondering why she wasn’t awake ha ha!

We were really naughty today, we got a huge tax cheque and went out and blew it in a new lounge and plasma!!!!! Told myself we would never own a plasma it’s a waste of money lol. Now I am having a stress attack that we should have paid it off debt and that we are only fixed on our mortgage for another 12 months… so on and so forth! All the baby bonus went off debt so I am making myself feels better with that.

Sherejoy, Thanks for your support, Yeah, Losec is a major med, Ash was on that as his Reflux caused an ulcer in his oesophagus that bled, trying to avoid having an op. I really don’t think Millie is anywhere as bad as he was the poor darling. I totally hear you on the guilt feelings. When I was preg with Ash I craved milk, drank litres of it, he arrived with a milk protein allergy and I was convinced for the next 2 years it was all my fault. Now Millie has it and I convinced myself it must be the anti-nausea meds I took with both pregs that caused it. Realise now its just genetic but I still doubt myself at times. Please don’t wear the guilt, cause it just ain’t true!

Beth – I’m hearing you on the eating.. I even wormed DS thinking it might help ha ha!

Libby – DS wears glasses for a turned eye… although I still struggle to see it! My mum and GP pointed it out. We have to watch Millie too, although I’ll be no use picking it up I think. Your CHN is worrying pretty early. By 3 months it might be a prob but don’t let it keep you up at night yet!

Melmc – spunds like you ar making brilliant progress – You go girl! (and I mean that sincerely not in a flippant way lol)

Mummy to Thomas – I really hope everything works out well for your DH’s job… I can’t believe you are TTC already, you must be loving the mummy thing!

Ellie13- I agree with the girls, keep an eye on it and be kind to yourself, keep in touch with girls like the wise Beth and Mel c who have done, or are, walking the journey too.

Hope you enjoyed the wedding girls, nothing like a dress up hey?

Mia&ryan – slowcookers rock hey? It’s the only way Dh gets fed these days!

Jenna – I still haven’t had a chance to PM you! Might text u instead lol. My sis in law was saying she used to wipe her kiddies ears with a damp face cloth to wake them up to feed.. might be worth a shot? Millie will sometimes do 2 hour feeds during the day but longer at night. Maddison could be having a growth spurt too, or getting your supply up. Try not to worry, although 2 hour feeds at night could be exhausting. Is she doing 2 hours from beginning of on e feed to the beginning of next or a two our break between? If it’s the latter, that’s what Millie does, I just class it as 3 hours cause its from start of one o start of next if that make sense?

Ok…. I type really slow so this has taken forever! Will love you and leave you!

Brth

Hi Beth,

Not too worry about a reply  unfortunately Maddison goes 2 hours from the start of the feed, so I only get about an hour and a quarter sleep in between each feed, if I am lucky.

We have been trying to get 3 hours during the day, but we are really pushing it and by then she is pretty desperate. The clinic nurse or whatever she is, said I should take her to a sleep group??? How on earth is that going to help me (it is for 4 hours in the morning) when she does sleep? Ok I normally put her down after a feed when she has already dozed off and they say to put them down whilst still awake, so I stop the feed even earlier?? Then she will never sleep

Oh well, will see how it goes this week!!

Sorry to hear you have had a bad week with Millie, i hope she doesn't suffer from reflux, but you sound like you have some experience after your ds, so you must recognise the symptoms. I wouldn't have a clue.

Take care, I am feeding so I will get off for a while, so I can work on keeping her going.

Woah  I can't believe how big she is.... Aysha is still in her 4 0's and can fit in 3 0's dresses but that's about it

Jenna - Oh no i hope that she can go back to he 4 hours.... maybe she is getting sick. Aysha has been sleeping and falling asleep on the boob because she has a cold.

Well the wedding was great last night... was so good seeing everyone.. mind you i didn't have aysha for most of the night family stole her away . I was giving her the bottle of most of yesterday because i didn't really want to get my boob out in front of everyone at the wedding but at one point in the night i did have to feed her so i found a locker room and fed her in their but since my boob was that full my milk started spraying out all over Aysha's face  poor darlin. Mind you she did get me back later that night when i got home after drving mums car home cause she had been drinking luke had heated up breast milk in the microwave [despite me telling him earlier not to do that]:no: and once he passed her over to me for me to get my boob out he went outside and she projectile vomited all over my dress twice everything she had to drink yesterday came up all over me... came out her nose and everything... gosh it was gross.... needless to say we both had to go have a bath to et the smell and the milk off us... gah i feel sick just thinking about it.

Hope everyone had a great weekend

 that sounds really appealing Kiralee. Just what you wanted wasn't it!! I must be grateful that Maddison is not a sickly baby, she does bring up a little after her feeds and occasionally she will bring a lot more up but not very often.

I don't think she is getting sick, she seems fine in herself. She only went the 4 hours once and then 3 afterwards, since then it has gone back to every 2 hours. Today we have managed to draw them out and make her go 3 hours but her body is demanding more after 2. I was wondering if maybe my milk isn't "strong" enough for her. I will speak to someone at a clinic some time soon if I am still worried about it. I don't really want to wait another 3 weeks (6-8 week check) to find out if I am doing something wrong or not. She is putting on weight very well so I know she is getting enough, but it just seems strange that she can't go the 4 hours when babies younger than her do.

Maddison has just started crying so I better go and see if she is awake, she has only just gone 2 hours though so hopefully she will go back to sleep for a bit. It is tiring but I love her to bits so I wouldn't change anything.

Speak later all.

Evening ladies I'm typing with one hand so will make it quick!!!

I am just wondering what you do when your bubba's have wind?????????? We use cooled boiled water, bath and normal burping and also infacol. Lily gets windy this time of night and was just thinking if there isanything else i can try  Also off to the gp tomorrow about her tongue tie, umbilical hernia & her vomitting. My instincts tell me she throws up more than normal so just want to get it checked out.

Hope you have all had a good weekend, take care

Gosh you are talking my language, our first son was exactly the same, severe reflux and tube fed due to refusal to feed. But what sounds really relevant and sooo like your story is that he also was Cows Milk Protein Intolerant. Drove us bloomey mad! When breastfeeding I had to cut out all my dairy. Lactose intolerant would have been far easier! You don't realise how much dairy is in things. He refused my breast at 8 weeks, I expressed till 13 when he would not go back on, so then we went to formula which he had a huge reaction too, so then we had to go to a prescription formula called Neocate. Gosh I am glad those days are long gone. I don't think lachlan grew out of his intolerance until 18 mths, so it was a real pest not giving dairy, as I have had the fussiest of all eaters since birth too! Made giving food very very hard.

Sounds like you are doing it all right too me. Infacol they say to use it as a preventative not a cure though. So as long as you give it every single feed. I am too lazy or I forget.

Lachlan use to throw up alot hence low weight gain, so the paed gave us Domperidone (also known as Motillium). It is meant to help with nausea apparently.

Have you tried sleep music, nice dim night light???? Sleep right sleep tight is areally good book too with different tecniques for different ages.

All the crying really gets to you after a while. Also we always bath then feed then straight to bed this time of night and Lily will usually be down by 11pm and on't wake until about 4am. Sure it's the bath and nice big feed relaxes her.

All the best

I hope everything works out. Try not to stress too much about it :hugs:

I dunno what's going to happen, i'm just stressing out a little......i just hate the unknown Also, we have been sort of starting toTTC bub #2 and that will have to go on hold until we know what's happening

Wow your keen, already starting ttc. I hope everything works out for you guys :hugs:

Woah  I can't believe how big she is.... Aysha is still in her 4 0's and can fit in 3 0's dresses but that's about it

Zack is 7 weeks old and fits into 0000 still. Of course he was only 5lb when he was born though.

grass is always greener

Wow mel you are keen. Have fun with the baby dancing.

Sheree- We wrap Charlie nice and tight and nurse him for a bit to settle him, until his eyes get droopy then pop him into bed. I must admit that it doesnt always work and its easier at 4am to nurse him right to sleep and then pop him into bed. I am thinking of doing the night time bath, feed, bed routine.

Kiralee- I know how you felt with the overfull boobs. Mine were solid by the time i got home from the wedding. I expressed almost 80mls out after i fed him, however i knocked the bottle over and lost the lot.:( All that liquid gold gone, soaked into my carpet.

Ellie13- If things start to get on top of you, cry. Let it all out. It helps. Also go outside, even if it is just out the back. Leave bubs in her cot and just go outside for 5 mins, take deep breaths and go back with a refreshed look on the situation. I was told this by the nurse at my drs when i was suffering PND with DS1. It helps. It helps put the problem into perspective.

Had a great time at the wedding. It was great to catch up with friends. Poor Will wasnt (and still isnt) feeling too good and fell asleep in the high chair. I think he is teething again. It was great to get out and socialise. Havent been out like that in quite awhile, and it was a great group to get started with.
Charlie is still in 0000. Its so strange as Will only fitted into 1 0000 outfit and that was only for a week. He is doing so much better. He hasnt coughed all day or yesterday come to think of it. He is still snuffly in his nose, but nothing is coming out.
I went into town today and i managed to grab 2 BFing singlets from best and less for $10 each. They were normally $24.99 each BARGAIN!!!!

I got a bit teary when I read that Sheree, Ashton was on Neocate from 8weeks too, we tried the partially Hydrolysed but no luck and same with soy. Making your own rusks sucks hey lol!! Aj grew out at 18 months too. (I did notice though they have dairy free rusks now.. where were they 3 years ago??) It is so hard to cut out all dairy.... Millie Reacts to EVERY tiny litlte bit milk and soy, even the soy protein in the batter of the chicken nuggets I had in the freezer! At least this time I am getting better at recognizing the hidden code names for it in the ingredient panels! Up side I'm getting skinny cause I'm living on fruit veg meat and nuts. Missing chocolate is the killer for me, and Gloria Jeans don't have rice milk, miss coffee with milk! Sorry to dump on you, is just such a relief to find someone who really understands... so different when you have walked though it yourself . Mill awake, guess I should be happy with 20 mins sleep?????!! Lord Help me lol

How heavy is everyone's bubba's.

Riley was 5.28kgs at 5.5 weeks. I am thinking he is on the big side????

Joel was 4.3kg at 5 weeks. (3.47 at birth)

Melissa
:flowerz:Goodluck at the GP. Hopefully they are able to help

Hmmm,..>Sheree,... getting babies to sleep,....sigh,.... there should be a University course in it!!! During the day I put Rafff either in the sling or the bouncing chair and rock him with my feet,.... if in the sling, he falls asleep really easily,..and transfers to the hammock quite well,.. At night, I feed him to sleep:o

When I need to get my 2yr old to sleep at the same time, it is a bit mental,.. I have to have JAsper on my knee and rock him, and Raff in the bouncer and rock him aswell,..shushing and patting at the same time,.. I feel like a one man band! All I need is a harmonica in my mouth!!!!

Gosh how similar are our babies huh!! I truely blame the reflux and cows milk protein intolerance on how fussy my boy is now. We have never known any different, 2 year old or not 2 year old, he has never wanted to eat! And like you blamed myself for having so much dairy when pregnant. I was under the belief I had too, not so much I wanted or needed it. I had copius amounts though, so this pregnancy I tried to ease off a bit, but still def had dairy. It is amazing how many foods have dairy in it I say!

So did Aj totally refuse the breast like my tyke? Lachlan use to kick and scream and punch me and wouldn't close his mouth over my nipple. I was soooo frazzeled. We had so much help, a lactation consultant that just couldn't believe the fuss he made. I had my next door neighbour and friend over helping me. What a sight, all these women fussing over my boob. At the end of the day it was not worth the stress though.

We had tried Karicare Ha Gold and OMG he screamed all day long. The paed assured me there was no dairy in it after they suspected Cows Milk Protein Intolerance. But after a screaming baby all day long, we did some research and omg it did!!! Lucky enuf that was our CHN appt day and she even rang me later to see if he had settled, but nope still screaming....

So Lachlan went on Neocate at 13 weeks after expressing for a good 5 weeks and me cutting out ALL dairy.

We thought we had turned a corner as he was drinking Neocate every 4 hours with a dash of vanilla, but still only drinking 60-70 mls.

Then at 5 mths old he would only drink 10-20mls. Just blatinely refused it! He was loosing weight and that is when we tube fed him for 2 mths. That is when we had our big problems. In and out of hospital as he then started to profusely vomit. Just like a running tap you couldn't turn off. We were giving him 120ml every 4 hours and after every test under the sun (ultrasounds, x/rays, catscans, blood tests etc... - and they all came back clear), they came to the conclusion his reflux was at its peak and his tummy was so small he couldn't handle the extra feeds. They were the hardest days of our life, and 2mths I never ever want to relive. Lachlan was on a continuous feed all night 35ml's/hour in order to stop him from vomitting.

It doesn't appear that Riley has a problem, I am hoping we would have known by now! I think he is very windy and hard to get to sleep at times, but that in itself is 100 times better then lachlan ever was. Atleast we can get 2-6 hours sleep out of him in one stretch. With Lachlan he was the 20min kid! Just a nightmare, my poor little darling. It is a wonder we went back for our 2nd child!!!!

Well it's official, DF's work is shutting down :banghead: He has a job until october at the latest and then not sure what's going to happen. The CEO said that there are positions currently available in their other mill in dalby and he could get a transfer there.

I was really hoping they were going to offer him a position in the Toowoomba mill as i would much prefer to live there........oh well i guess we just have to wait and see what happens now.

I just thinks it sucks when big companies shut down certain work sights and heaps of people are out of a job:mad:

Now I'm also going to have to resign from my job which i really enjoy and just hope i can get another job when my maternity leave runs out. At least if we lived in Toowoomba, there were more job opportunities for me :(

mummy to thomas so sorry to hear about your df's job, I really hope he can get a transfer, it is just such a shame it isn't where you would prefer to be.

 everyone,
Thought I'd quickly pop my head in here now as I've found the thread, lol! I haven't been lurking on the hub as much as I used to, so I haven't been keeping up.

Well, little DD is doing absolutely wonderfully!! Can't complain at all! She's sleeping at least 6 - 8 hour stinits at night...only waking once. Usually around 4.00am. She'll feed 3 - 4 hourly during the dayand doesn't cluster feed at all like my boys did. MAkes it so much easier at night times. She absolutely loves her bath, and would probably stay in there all day if I let her....she also loves nappy free time. She's smiling and cooing heaps, and loves to have her daily 'chats' with me and the boys. Just too cute!!

Waaaaaaay too much to catch up on, but I'll try and keep up from now on, however, life sure is pretty busy with 4 children 5 and under!!

ETA - She's 7 weeks old today!! Where has the time gone?

DH came home and bathed her thank goodness, just down now :fingerscrossed:. I forgot to say that yes Aj screamed and fussed and pushed away from the breast. I would fight him for 2 hours every feed. Mill just started doing it last 2 days.... hoping its just her getting a cold. No recs on formula sorry! Other Beth (lol) has been trying a few though haven't you Beth? She might have some ideas. I have been laying awake at night wondering what would happen if I couldn't feed Mill, accident or something, she can't have any formula you can just pop out and buy. Wish I had some neocate for back up. Will talk to GP thurs, I have EBM but prob only 2 feeds worth.

Im the formula queen this time around

We tried Nan HA Gold, Karicare and S26, Karicare and S26 constipated him and the NAN had too much lactose in it for his lil tummy.

We're using Heinz Nuture Starter (from birth one, blue lid) and we've had a smooth run with it

It just sucks doesn;t it?? Lucky we love em! Is he happy while he's awake? Miss only wants to be cuddles upright all day, killer on the shoulders...

Im really lucky that he is happy when he's awake, he just loves watching Wyatt though, so that's prolly why LOL! He does get bored easily though, so I find I have to change rooms with him in the bouncer from time to time, he loves to have someone in the room with him when he's awake.

Careful of formula top ups I did it the other night with Lily as I had nearly no milk left and all it did was give her terrible pain and me a sleepless night :crying: Maybe try expressing after your morning feed and top up with that???

Lily slept through until 5.15am this morning :smiliedance: She usually wakes about 4am for her feed but got an extra hour last night!!!!!! And we were in bed at 10.30pm so feeling great today, she is such a great baby and her sisters are loving her and have also been great accepting her into our family.

Also Lily doesn't sleep much during the day either. An hour here and there is about it, she spends half the day in her bouncer in the lounge I'm sure she loves the noise of her sisters being close.

Hope you all have agood day

Hi all

Yes I keep saying i am going to keep up and then a couple of days goes past and I look at how many pages I have to catch up on so I put it off and then it takes me hours to re read and then post...but I really am going to do it from now on. My mum left us last friday after almost two weeks helping out and it was sad but also great at the same time to just have my little family ( i say little family but we are the biggest family amongst the people we know, excepting some of you on here ) again, and got our own little routine happening so that is great. First day at home on my own with the 3 kiddies yesterday and went really well, although I felt terrible for Tahliah as I had to go back to bed and have a sleep come mid morning when the boys went to sleep as I have just been wrecked with our nighttime feeding atm, so I put a movie on for her to watch, but had to be done or else I would have collapsed by the afternoon I reckon...sigh
I am feeling some of you with the time between feeds, during the day doesnt bother me and Chrace seems to feed every 3 to 4 hours, but once he goes down in the evening he is down for about 4 to 4.5 hours and then between 12 and 1 he is up so I pull him into bed with us to feed as it is too bloody cold to get up and feed, but then he will feed for hours, so I have been chucking it at around 2 230 and just getting up with him, putting on some lights in the dining room so it only feels like evening not the very early morning, make a brew, put on the heater and sit on the couch and feed, wind, feed, wind until he finally crashes out about an hour later and then i go back to bed!!! Might force myself to just do that straight away when he wakes instead of waiting in bed!
jenna glad everything sounds like it is going well down your end. Gee Steve is a lucky hubby, you sound like you do spoil him, but as long as he does to you too that is the main thing, I have gf's who think I spoil dh aswell by I think it is nothing more than he deserves and he is so good to me so I cant complain....but girls what is with the guys not changing nappies? As long as you are ok with it I spose but we started cloth nappies with Chrace on friday as he was 4 weeks, can you believe?! And we have done that with the other two aswell, used disposies for the first four weeks and then cloth, we use zappy nappies like disposies but made of flannelette, and Landon is still in them aswell as he is only 16 months and i couldnt imagine James not changing nappies, he usually does all of Landons when he is home, and Chraces when I ask, but I am usually always caring for Chrace so I just do it when it needs it.
Anyways Jenna yeah no I have been good with not doing too much, havent really had the chance as Chrace has been having his growth spurts so feeds a lot but he is over 5kg now and needs it I guess and also to increase my milk supply. I am trying not to worry about it too much, I just do the washing...there is always tonnes of washing with cloth nappies and then clothes for the 5 of us...and keep up with the house work and cooking, trying to get back into baking aswell...and now really trying to be aware of spending individual time with Tahliah and Landon when I am not with Chrace...so its busy busy but I am setting myself a project to start in a couple of weeks...James is now a fully qualified and registered pt so I am hoping to save enough and get his folks to fingers crossed contribute to building some bench seating/storage outside under our big patio area and paint the floor and bricks of that area, get some mirrors and equipment so he has a more professional area to train clients at home...so will have to get cracking on that soon as I wanted it to be a surprise for fathers day...planning on doing it all myself so going to be busy but I just love building and being creative...its just the money factor...hmmm
Ok sorry going on now...sorry to hear about some of you with settling issues, baby blues and bubbies who are sick or have problems...big big majorly big hugs to you all...
welcome to the newbies who have joined us...welcome
Beth - badgersmum - thanks for missing me, you sweetie you!
Hi hi to all you special mummies...and I will be on here more in the future I promise, so I dont bore you with such a long post next time
Anyways best be off have to do something while both my boys are asleep, Tahli is at kindy today, my first drop off with the 3 on my own...went well, so feeling good so far, best go and have something to eat, wash the dishes, make dinner and hang some of this washing and then will probably be confined the couch again when mister wakes
Have a great day all
Hugs

Im really lucky that he is happy when he's awake, he just loves watching Wyatt though, so that's prolly why LOL! He does get bored easily though, so I find I have to change rooms with him in the bouncer from time to time, he loves to have someone in the room with him when he's awake. That's great! If shes awake shes crying lol!! Deek is a bit older though so I'll hope it'll get better!

and I totally love the little system in fess 'little noses', works sooooo well!! Little fess is brilliant, I love that little sucker.... only cleaning I get to do lately ha ha

 You! missed ya! 3 kids... I'm busy with 2 I'm amazed you make it here at all lol! I'm hearing you on th bloody cold!!! I'm doing night feeds at 12is 3ish and 5ish... our heater runs 24/7! your project sounds huge! You can come build stuff at my place anytime ! And I agree.... Dad's do nappies! My DH is great when he is home, get 'em used to it earlier the better I say! As for "your milk your mess" comment Ellie... I'd be telling him even better "cause you can't deal with the top end, the rear end is 100% yours!" Maybe I'm spoilt but Dh wouldn't even dream he could get away with that!

Millie asleep and I swear I have heard her every 5 minutes... feel like I'm going crazy... bit worried my anxiety levels might be a bit extreme... will keep an eye on it .

Off to hug my little man before my arms are full of little miss again :goodvibes:

Yes I agree Sasha, amazed you get here at all with 3 kids. Well done. So glad Chrace is doing so well too.

Well we finally got Riley down at 9.30pm last night. So atleast it wasn't 11pm like the night before. So there is progress. I felt so drained though after starting his bed time process at 6pm, and I put in more of an effort then the night before too! Little bugger.

But I can't complain he then slept till 4am. So really really happy with that. Can't have the best of both worlds I guess!

Just got him weight at the clinic and he is now 5.54kgs. Wade now calls him budda.

Hi Jess... Don't worry too much about 'milestones',...babies do things in their own time! You can get bogged down with what they should be doing and not spend enough time enjoying them!

HI everyone else,...hope you are all having a great day,...

Badger - I am mighty annoyed at missing your sling! Wish I had known about it!!!! (must have missed that post of yours:cool:),.... Oh well,..someone has scored a bargain!

Umm,... I have read all the posts,..but for the life of me can't remember anything much..

Sheree - THat's awesome on the weight gain,...! Raff was 4.4 at last weigh in,....(a week ago - so I guess he would be heading towards 5kg now,....)

AM I the only one who is yet to use the Fess Little noses????? Fingers crossed we dont have to use it for a while!!!!

Nup,...that's it,... can';t remember any more! Memory like a sieve!!!

Raff is 7weeks old today! And is being such a good little chap,... he is happy to cruise around in the sling, or sit and grin at Scarlett in his bouncer,.. and is doing quite well on the sleep front too! Yay!!! Can't complain at all!!!

Will stop this post now,..as I am rambling,.and probably boring everyone!!:wave:

Can anyone relate to me here.

Riley is not overly happy just to lay and watch, we are lucky to get 5mins out of him that he is happy every day. We always have to carry him between feeds and sleep. Is anyone else's bubs like this.

Despite Lachlan (my first son) having a rough start to life and scream due to reflux, he still was reasonably happy baby considering.

Guess Riley is still a bit young yet????

SJR is eukybear ok??? I asked the chemist about baby basalm and they said not till 3 mths, i then asked about eukybear and they said not to use that either??????

the lady at the chemist the other week said that the eukybear would be the best to use but to put it on a tissue and put it under their clothes not actually put it on the baby but i found that one to have a heaps strong smell just like normal vicks so i just put it in the vaporiser.

Well it's official, DF's work is shutting down He has a job until october at the latest and then not sure what's going to happen.

At least if we lived in Toowoomba, there were more job opportunities for me :(

oh hun i'm so sorry hugs.... i hope things turn out fine for you guys.

hi ladies im only new to all this hence no profile pic (lol its cos i dont know how to upload one) and im not asking hubby cos he knows everything and its a little annoying:laughing:

I have a son who was born 28th july 06 and a beautiful little princess who was born 3rd july 08. I will mainly be online at nights in between feeds or when my son lets me on the computer. I swear he knows more about computers than me and he's 2 lol

Anyway hope to chat soon:wave:

 Hi Everyone,

Thanks for letting me know about this thread, Lahri :)

I'm Jasmine (obviously) and bubs is Charlie Curtis, born on 30 July 2008.

We were supposed to be Augustians (EDD 19/08/08), however due to a late diagnosis of IUGR (He was measuring big for dates at our 32 week scan, then something stopped or slowed between then and 37 weeks) the doctors decided to induce me at 37 weeks 1 day.

I was told 2 days earlier that bub looked like 2.4-2.7kg, and he was 2.7kg (6lb1oz).
Not all that bad for a 37 weeker!

Charlie is 12 days old now, we had a horrible 5 days in the hospital, including a brief stint in SCN for double phototherapy, we've had a couple of bad nights/days, but generally we're all getting on quite nicely now. (He's learning to differentiate night time and day time)

Welcome to the group

Hey Beth, nice to be missed, gives me warm fuzzies!! hehehe I am glad that I am not the only one shivering my shooshie off in the wee hours of the night and morning!
Yeah my project is pretty big but I just love doing stuff...like I said it is the money factor and when it is not the money factor it is the time one...sigh...will see how i go though, need to price it all up and then see if my in laws would be willing to contribute a little each, even a hundred bucks would help, just means he would seem more professional and have equipment and surroundings to accompany his great skills...wish me luck...once that is done it will be back to saving to do our laundry so if you want any building done I will be free...wink...in between the 3 kiddies that is! hehehehe
yeah I agree with the dads doing nappies, my hubby has always done them and never needing forcing or prompting although he did need a wee bit of guidance when we had Tahli but he is an old hat at it now, but my brother in law is a guy who just wont do nappies, he reckons he vomits at the sight and smell of poo...ugh...thats another reason why I reckon break them into it from day dot because bf bubs poos are nothing in comparison to when they start eating solids!
Hope you had a lovely cuddle before having miss mill in your arms once more

Thanks Sheree, nice to know that I am not thought of as slack if I am not here for a while even though that is how I feel. Hope your boys are nicer to you tonight, if it helps we give a little boobie and then have play time and tummy time and then a long warm bath with me and then a long long feed before he settles for the night and that seems to work a treat he is buggered by the time he finally goes off, maybe that is worth a try, but all bubs are different. and Chrace likes to be cuddled aswell, he doesnt mind some time to himself like in his swing, but he isnt settled if he is in the room on his own or is there for too long, so he is a bit the same

SJR I havent used little fess' or whatever it is either, although I have been close to going and getting some in the last day or two but he seems to be on the mend and the nose isnt really bothering him anymore.

Jess I agree with SJR about the milestones, all bubs are different and will do things in their own time but you can use the timeline for them as a bit of a guide however some do them earlier and then some do them later, like i think with walking for example...which is way early for all of our bubbies of course but as an example... anywhere from 10 to 18 months I think is the range that kids should be walking, so dont stress too much

Well after three nights of trying to get Riley down at 7pm, I finally achieved it. He finally went to sleep at 7.20pm tonight. The first night 11pm, 2nd night at 9.30pm and third night whalaaa. I am so pleased. What a good boy. I just felt so exhausted from the previous 2 nights where we started his bath at 5.45pm and then started the feeding process just after 6pm. Lets hope it is third time lucky and it continues. Now wouldn't that be nice or maybe I am just dreaming hehe.

Hope you all have a good nite with your bubbas.

Well i took Charlie to the drs yesterday and his chest is all clear!!!:smiliedance:
I had the doctor look at his eyes as well and they dont appear to be turned at all, actually the dr said they were nice and symmetrical.

However, now its Will that is sick again. We think he has the flu. He was shivering last night while being all wrapped up. Then at 5am this morning, he woke up screaming. I went in to check on him and he wanted to get picked up so i did and next thing i get is :barf: all over the both of us. So i pop him down and :barf: all over the floor. It was all milky, but more like cottage cheese (sorry TMI). It was so gross. He is asleep now and hopefully he will feel better soon.

Beth- we used Heinz with Will and we used it with Charlie while we were doing top ups. I found it to be really good. Plus its only $11 at big w.

Hi there, how are you all doing? Sorry i havent been on here in a while. Im doing uni full time now so my head has been stuck in books for the past two weeks. Ariana is 7wks tomorrow!! :) Well ive been a bit down of late. I saw the nurse yesterday to weigh Ariana and its not good. She only put on 300g in 5wks!!!!:crying: I feel like such a terrible mother. I had tears welting up but i held it back. I cant believe that ive let my bubby down. :gloomy: The nurse thinks cause of everything happening right now that my supply has decreased. She said to start frequent feeding and to talk to paed about giving a comp feed. To add to this my DH's nan passed away last week and we had the funeral yesterday. Its a very sad time for this family at the moment.
Ariana is still a good sleeper at night and generally is a happy baby. She gives us lots of smiles all the time now. :) I had my 6wk checkup last week and all looks good except me emotionally. My Ob has been so good, ive been so greatful for his care with me and ariana when i was pg, im going to miss him. Anyway i just thought i would pop in and say hi to you all and to let you know that im still around. :hugs:

hi there girls- sorry i have bianca on my boob atm, so i can use only one hand- hence funny typing.

check up went well, she's put on heaps of weight and 3 cm, so she is now-3900g and 52 cm:smiliedance:. i have spoken to the nurse about how i feel, and she also thinks we should wait and see another 2 weeks, that things might get lot better once i can drive and get out a bit.

sorry to hear about all your troubles jadensmum-:hugs:!!!1

mum-to-thomas-:hugs:- hope you'll get what you want.

Well Bianca is feeding well- she feeds every 2-4 hours, and at night she ususally has a feed at 10pm, 2am, 4am, 6am- so I actually consider that good- as DD used to be much worse:sleeping:....Are you all ladies BF??? Cause I thought that if I BF I should expect such frequent feeding- not what youy all describe here- or am I just not doing something right to have so many wake ups??? Cause the times I put above- tha's what I consider a good nite- bad nite is pretty much every hour. And I thought that tha is normal?!?!- maybe tha's why I feel so down- no sleep:laughing:.....

Anyways- hope you all have a great day.

im doing the one handed type so appologies for any mistakes i make.

Tried to go back through all the posts ive missed but thats about ten pages or so.. so i will endeavor to read them later but thought ide use this spare moment to check in with you all.

Hope every one and there bubs are doing great!

Took maia to her 6 week check up yesterday.
She is very healthy, no health problems which is fantastic. He weighed her and my little chubba had put on 400 g in 8 days!!! i think my little new born is gone now and my chubba bubba is appearing!:laughing: She is still in 0000 clothes though, she grew out of her 000 bonds wonder suits weeks ago though cause her legs are sooo long.

Were slowly getting used to dealing with her wind and colic. We have some stomach calming stuff that we give to her each afternoon in preperation.

She is still drinking both breast milk and some formula, cause she is such a gutso. the other night she had 140ml of expressed breast milk an d then a further 70 ml of formula!

im off to melb this weekend to visit my granda so she can meet maia. i dont think she will be around for much longer.

I too was having these sorts of night with maia. Then my mum suggested i express and bottle feed at night. This has worked wonders for us. Maia feeds at 9, then i go to bed, then she wakes at around 12-1 then again at about 5-6. prior to this i was basically up the whole night as she would take about an hour to feed then another hour to settle and then wake within half hour and off we'd go again. :(

Yay Sheree, well done, sounds like your little man was listening when I said to be good to his mummy!! Hope it keeps up.

Kiralee that is no good to hear...is it your stitches or perhaps you have got haemorroids? I had never had them before but got them this time round and have the same thing happening, although I know that it is not stitches or anything as I had a c section (sorry tmi) but that might be another cause?

naomi that is no good at all, hope that you are feeling better soon..you sound like you are under huge pressure with a little bubba, and two other little ones aswell as doing uni full time, please dont make yourself feel too guilty, it is the last thing you need and certainly is not warranted, remember you also owe it to your kids to take care of you too...you are a great mum just remember that!

Ellie hope you are feeling in better spirits soon...all kiddies are different, I am bf too and have moments like that when bubs will feed hourly or almost, but that is usually put down to a growth spurt, perhaps bubs is just still hungry and needs to have a longer feed before going down or something, but usually the longer they are feeding for, the fuller they will get and the more your milk supply will be, but if you are concerned definitely talk to your doctor. We are all here for you.

Hey Kira good to see you on here, glad that Maia is doing so well! We are the same with Chrace in that he is no longer a newborn bub, our littlies only ever seem to be so for about a week not much longer...but gotta say that I love the chub. hope that you have a wonderful day today with your granma.

Ok well we had a great night last night, my plan worked to just get straight out of bed and feed the little guy, we had playtime then a really long lovely bath and then feed and he was in bed at 830 with us following very closely behing and he then didnt wake til 2 which is the second longest he has ever gone, then I got up and fed him, watched some olympics, then put him back to bed at 230 but he woke 5 to 10 mins later as he obviously wanted a bit more so I did bring him back to bed as I knew it wouldnt be a long feed, then back to bed at 3 and he didnt wake til 7! yay, so hopefully he will continue with that sort of routine in the evenings, wouldnt mind if he was more awake during the day if I am getting rest like that! Anyways off to enjoy the day, it is a holiday here so dh is home and both the boys are down, so going to put another coat on Tahli's and my pinyada! have a great one all

Kira - Glad Mia is good for you.... Aysha is getting some little chubby cheeks so cute. Not sure how much she weighs as i have my 6 week check up tomorrow but she is a guts too. She is still in 0000's too i don't think she is going to be very tall, she'll be a shorty like me i think. Have a good visit with your grandma.

Naomi - :hugs: I hope you start feeling better soon and sorry to hear about your dh's nan. We are all hear for you if you need to talk.

Lib - Glad that Charlie's chest is all clear.

Aysha only woke up once last night :yelclap: but i think that is because she was forever on my boob yesterday. She had a feed at 11 then woke up at 4 then again at 6. I don't normally get to bed till about 12 so that was good.

:hugs:

Big hugs darl.

Zack is like this. Its like hes not happy if hes awake. I think its just because they are so young. He likes to be held if hes awake.

hi there girls- sorry i have bianca on my boob atm, so i can use only one hand- hence funny typing.

check up went well, she's put on heaps of weight and 3 cm, so she is now-3900g and 52 cm:smiliedance:. i have spoken to the nurse about how i feel, and she also thinks we should wait and see another 2 weeks, that things might get lot better once i can drive and get out a bit.

sorry to hear about all your troubles jadensmum-:hugs:!!!1

mum-to-thomas-:hugs:- hope you'll get what you want.

I am not sure what is good and bad honey, I know my first son was much worse then what you are describing and yet this baby is sooo much better. Last nights success was 7.20pm bed, dreamfeed 9.45pm, awake for feed at 2am and then awake again at 7.30am. So this little bubba is really exceptional. We are lucky this time round.

Hi everyone,

im doing the one handed type so appologies for any mistakes i make.

Glad she is doing so well and have a nice trip.

i hold Joel a WHOLE lot more than i ever did the others.... the floor just isn't safe for him! LOL.
He is happy for a short time only on the floor when i put him down. He is ok in his bouncer for longer... but still only 10 or so minutes at a time.

I had my 6 week check up at the DR today. She gave me a gold star (literally ) everything has bounced back this time. Belly blubber still there from Ryan, but other than that, i am all good!
I am really thinking i have to start at the gym again! I no longer have an excuse not to loose this weight now. It was always... "why loose it then get preg again and put it all on again" now no more babies... no more excuses :(

I have 15kg to loose to get to MY happy weight.
10 i think to get into the healthy weight range!

Sorry for not too many personals... it all sort of goes in to my brain, swirls around for a while, then comes out all jibberish, and i can't remember what i was going to say!:(

Yay chrace.

and yes you hit the nail on the head, hope he continues the same routine tonight, but unlikely hehe. These babies have a mind of their own huh!

ellie13- we are up quite a lot at night too.
Usually about every 2.5 hours. Quick feed then back to sleep.
Joel feeds are usually between 2-3 hours apart day and night also (he is breast fed too). That just seems normal for us, and i am fine with that, as long as he goes back to sleep after a feed. Both my older boys were similar i think.
