Hi ladies,

At my 12 week scan my results came back that 'placenta was clear of OS'.

At my 18 week scan the results came back that my placenta was low and only 1cm away from OS' - the radiologist mentioned that it would be recommended to have another scan at 30 weeks to see if the placenta has moved ..

I had to have another scan at 22 weeks due to bad cramping and the results came back that my placenta was 'slightly' low ....nothing else mentioned.

However my midwife thought that the 22 week scan results provided her with not enough info about the placenta so i will be having a 30 week scan to check position of the placenta..

To me, it sounds like the placenta has moved slightly - but my question is,

How likely is it to have NOT moved away enough??

Who has had a C-section due to placenta reasons?.

I had the same issue. I had a scan at 34 weeks and it was all ok.

Most of the time, the placenta moves - so try not to worry about it :)

You are likely to have no issues with it as they move 90% of the time. Even if it is still classed as 'low' at 30 weeks I would request another scan closer to you EDD, as there's another 10 weeks for it to move further.

At 1cm away from the OS, depending on its position (anterior / posterior etc), you would still have a chance of a v/b anyway. But as I said before, you have a great chance of having no issues with it anyway.

Good luck and I'm sure it will be fine. :)

I have had 2 ceasar's due to placenta praevia, there is a lot of monitoring involved and a lot of hospital stays, with my youngest bub who is 7 wks I had a lot of scans at the end because I had the highest grade of PP a complete coverage of the cervix, but I wouldn't worry too much not many women have the probs that I had. Good luck.
