DermaVeen is good for the bath, you can get it at a chemist otherwie the qv oil, its meant to be a preventative (doesnt work for dd but it eases it) this is good too, it really stops the redness.

Good luck :)

When DS developed eczema I stopped using anything at all in his bath. Cleared up in no time.

:iagree:with the QV oil...I love it and often pop it in DD's bath too although she needs it less than me:rolleyes:

qv or dermaveen are good - but the best i have found is goats milk soap which they stock at that new organic food shop down stairs in the square - next to the chicken shop.

good luck x

Most of the exzema treatments ie QV or Dermaveen have chemicals in them.

The best thing is warm water only or Gaia baby products are all natural.

:iagree: i was furious when i took DD to the chemist and the to my GP and they told me to use all those types of sensative skin washes..only to find months later they had all these chemicals, artificial ingredients, and some had soap in them. That certainly isnt good for her skin.

I have started using Avado which is natural and organic from Coles, its similar to Gaia.

You really have to read whats in the products and maybe even google the ingredients. Try one of the organic ones or just plain sorbelene.

Good luck....skin conditions are horrible and its very much a hit and miss, no 2 products work the same, so what works for our kids may not work for yours. Trial an error unfortunately.

i remembered what it was called 'Seborrhoeic dermatitis'. like DD1 she didn't (well hasn't yet) get it on her scalp just her face and a little on her trunk.

thank you all for your help and thank you Frazzled for directing me where to go.
i got some goats milk soap from there as well as a bar of baby olive soap. i have only used the baby olive soap so far and her cheeks are still red but are calming down a great deal and more importantly are not dry any more :yelclap:.
they also gave me a sample of stuff to try on her hair and said it would not fix anything but i will be able to wash DD2s hair and not have it aggravate her skin...and it didn't :smiliedance:

thank you all again and im sure DD2 sends many thanks also:hugs:

My GP recommended Oilatum bath solution for my 4 yr old. Upon checking the net it also comes in a range of creams as well. I would just check with your GP if suitable for babies...but i saw a review site on the product and people gave it good reviews and had used the cream products on their babies.
My son has a few scaly patches on his legs and arms which the GP diagnosed as dry skin dermatitis, as young kids don't produce enough natural oils on their skin till the hormones kick in at teenagehood. This is the first time my son has had this and i wonder if the extremely dry, cold weather has contributed to the problem.
