i have a major drama, ds is on Infasoy formula and has been since 1 week old. dh and i both were lactose intolerant as children and both suffer from asthma so our child health care nurse recommended Infasoy. my problem is he just had a bottle and there wasnt much left in the can so i went to the coles and there was no infasoy, just a big sign saying "DISCONTINUED LINE" so i went to safeway and the same thing happened! i have absolutely no idea what to do as there are no other soy formulas there. i bought a can of Heinz Nurture Starter but am really worried he wont take well to it.
has anyone else gone from soy to normal? or has anyone got any suggestions im desperate, i dont want to end up ordering it in from chemist's if possible.
arghh please help!

Hi Chic
I'm sorry, but I don't know anything about going from Soy to normal, we haven't had any trouble in that department. We started DS off on Karicare (got constipated really badly) then went to S26 and then Heinz nurture coz it was so much cheaper. He took that transition really well.
Have you had him tested for lactose intolerance? I think you can get it done through a GP. Maybe for some peace of mind, get him tested and that way you'll know for sure.
I'm sorry I'm grasping at straws here. Really wish I could help more.
:fingerscrossed: he goes ok on the Heinz though

Call the manufacturers first thing tomorrow morning - perhaps they are just out of stock or changing to a new format etc. They should be able to tell you where you can get some from.
Good Luck !:fingerscrossed:

Hi brodies mum,
My son is also lactose intolerant , like his father not an asthmatic though. We tried him on a few formulas ( NAN, SOY, Karicare gold) and then took him to a naturopath she told us he has high allergies, can be hyperactive and is lactose intolerant and to try goast formula. After trying him on lactose free Karicare he wouldn't drink it (but the doctor can give you a bulk prescription if you need one. It cost us 25 dollars for 5 tins). We went to Karicare Goats milk which he was on until about 8- 17 mths, he had stopped vomitting it up and having reflux and now he drinks lactose free cows milk, which he is fine on and 22 months.
Hope this can help.

If your worried about going onto a formula thats based on cows milk you can get ones based on goats milk too. i think you can get it in the karicare brand. hope that helps.

hey just thought id let anyone interested know how bubba is going on the new formula.
well he has been on it for 4 days now and is thriving! he doesnt vomit and his nappys are dirtier than ever!
the dr said its surprising how resiliant bubbas are! he said it takes about a week or so for their tummys to get used to it. so far so good!
just thought i would add: my friends child has been diagnosed lactose intolerant due to constant diahreaha. they put her on a special s26 formula for l/intolerant babies. not sure of the name but can find out. anyway if your child is diagnosed with the condition by a doctor doing tests etc you can actually get the formula by prescription and instead of costing $20 a tin my friend gets 5 tins for $20 . worth looking into.
