Hi darl. I am "from" Mt Isa but dont live there anymore. In fact moved from Mt Isa in 88. Would love to go back though to see how much it has changed. Hope you can find someone here who actually lives there though!

Been there, lived there, never going back there. I did find for entertainment value when I was alone with a new baby in the Isa these things:

1. I would walk to K-mart. Cruise the aisles of both K-mart and Coles in case something new came in overnight. I would smile at the shop assistants when they gave me a pathetic look because I went in there EVERYDAY;

2. Go to the Buff's club, have a coffee, watch television (around that time I think I watched DOL's religiously);

3. Walk to the Irish Club, as per no.2 above, without the TV;

4. Drive to Cloncurry to do the grocery shopping; and

4. Walk aimlessly around the streets (about 15 k's a day).

My heart goes out to you, toward the end a friend did come back to live in the Isa and she had a baby the same age. Needless to say, after that I walked no-where!

i like no 4 maghan and i go to k mart most days but at the moment it does seem like everyone is leaving town it sucks i want to go back to melbourne where i at least have my mum or townsville where all my friends are

sarie i used to live about two hours south of toowoomba


its strange though how many people i have meet here that grew up in my home town

It's such a small world! I met the girls in my town on here and I've met some girls from where I grew up also!

I worked at the hospital for six months. Ah, the Buffs and the Irish......:yes: Had a great time there, but couldn't have stayed more than six months.

Hi ladies,

I have also done a short stint in mt isa!! (pre baby) Ahhh, the good old irish club...that brings back some memories. I was working most of the time I was there, but when I had time off I would...
* walk up to the lookout (great excersize)
* Cruise Kmart & Best and Less
* go to the movies
* drive out to the lake (man made)
I even did the whole 'tourist' thing and went to mining museum, etc.
I figured it's a place I will never visit again, so did everything while I was there.
