View Full Version : Does Anyone Work For The ANZ Bank??

I am currently weighing up my options re: returning to work.

One of my options is to leave my current employer (where I have to travel 2 hours each way to & from work) to find something a bit closer to home.

I don't really want to go with this option unless I have to as I have excellent maternity leave provisions with my current employer & we are planning on having bub #2 sooner rather than later.

I have seen an ad today for a job with ANZ which would be ideal as it is perfect hours & very close to home (I could nearly walk there!!) and I would be doing work that I have done before.

What I am interested in knowing is, if anyone knows what the ANZ bank has to offer in relation to maternity leave. Specifically if there is a required length of service before you are eligible & whether they offer any portion of paid maternity leave.

The ad that I have seen states that they are an "Employer Of Choice For Women", so I wonder if that means they do have good maternity leave entitlements??

I don't really know about maternity leave entitlements with ANZ but my mum is a teller in the Albury Branch and my sister was Assistant Manager in Devonport and her husband was Branch Manager in Latrobe!!!

They all really enjoy the work, and have made alot of really good friends through the banks.

I would think that you had to be working there for 12 months before you're entitled to take maternity leave, but have no idea about paid leave. I'll ask my mum or my sister next time I'm talking to them and see if they know about it.

We are an ANZ family, both DP and I used to work for them and MIL still does.

From memory they have paid maternity leave, it used to be only 6 weeks but recently doubled it to 12 weeks.

Speaking from experience, I found them to be a great company to work for, although I was in a head office rather than a branch. MIL works in a branch and she loves it. I'd say go for it!

Life balance

Creating a balance between work, leisure, family and the other roles can only make for more fulfilled staff.

In December 2004 maternity/parental leave was doubled – from six to 12 weeks fully paid, with no minimum service requirements to qualify. When parents return to work they can apply for part-time positions while retaining the right to return to a full-time role.

Other flexible options include Lifestyle Leave, which offers up to an additional four weeks leave for any purpose and Career Breaks of up to five years.

All permanent employees are able to pay part or all of their childcare fees at one of the five participating ABC Centres via a pre-tax salary deduction. We hope to have 10 such centres by the end of 2006.
