My 4 month old DS has learnt to roll from his back to tummy. Every morning for the past week, he rolls over in his cot about 4am but cant get back onto his back. He wont sleep on his tummy. Ususally by the time we hear him calling for us, he is wide awake & we are lucky if we can get him back to sleep. Does anyone know how we can stop him rolling over? I've thought about rolling up some towels and putting next to him but he is at that stage where everything goes in his mouth & he might try to pull them up to his face.

you can get anti-roll thingys to put in the cot so busb wont roll when they are young or jsut starting to roll. i gave up trying to stop my DS coz he rolled over everything  but he is now a tummy sleeper.

There are products you can buy designed to prevent bubs from rolling on their belly. I bought a product called 'sleep-rite' from babyco which is like two wedges joined by some fabric. The baby sleeps on top of the fabric, between the two wedges(if that makes sense) which are meant to prevent bubs from rolling. Didn't work for me...my bubs rolled right over them, she's very active tho.

You could also try a safe-t-sleep which basically has a velcro strap that goes around babies belly and keeps them on their back or side.

I found with my bubs i had a couple of weeks of restless sleep, hard to settle etc...then all of a sudden she decided she likes the belly and sleeps either way.

oh and there was another thread where some mums found a sleeping bag helps. Good luck:)

Cheap alternative that I used were pool noodles. You thread them into the ends of the cot and they help the blankets to stay on as well. If they do put their faces on them it is not going to suffocate them.
