Help please :)

I got a slow cooker for MIL a RONSON one and she had no instructions so I put in some steak and potatoes and other vege with a tin of soup and water, spices etc...it smells yummy and looks like the meat is cooking

BUT my potatoes are still hard.....Its been on since 10am...what is happening should the pot start to soften by now...

On my ronson cooker it has three dials - 1, 2, Auto. Not sure what this is about so I had it on auto but an hr ago I changed it to 2 and no change to potatoes....

Any insight on all this would be great..first time user on a slow cooker :chef:

I do what you have just done, and my potatos are always the last to soften, but it is on all day pretty much, when I do it and it all tastes good in the end.

I agree.

Most slow cookers cook on the lowest temp automatically for several hours. Dont be too hasty in trying to break up ur potatoes unless they are in fact considerably larger than the rest of your foods. Dont get me wrong, they dont have to all measure the same, but its like cooking anything. Just ensure they arent huge cuts.

If it helps, grab some McCormick Slow Cooker recipe meal bases from your grocery store & try them out as directed. This will give you confidence for you to make your own meals from scratch hehe.

We have Lamb Shanks (McCormicks packet base) cooking as we speak, which generally take about 8 hrs on low. We Bowl in a League tonight so it will be ready to eat when we get home. We just quickly boil & mash some potatoes when we get home & serve the shanks on top......... mmmm YUM! :goodvibes:

Dont forget practice makes perfect..... good luck!
