hello all,

stupid question this may be? but for all of you who have been pregnant they say when you are pregnant that "you just know" you are pregnant (before you even get your AF) ..is this true? How many people have experienced this?

I am eagerly awaiting to see if AF arrives (pray it doesnt!) have had many pregnancy symptoms (extremely moody and upset, crying, cramps, cold and strange dreams, tired all the time and a bit vague) but no sore breasts etc.

I know everyone has different symptoms just interested to see what you all think.

the dreaded TWW is HORRIBLE :banghead:

With #1, I was suspicious I was, but had no point of reference to base my suspicions on. I had symptoms - mostly frequent urination.

With #2, I was sure I wasn't, and presented at the GP to have it ruled out, and to get a referral to a gyno - I was sure AF being AWOL was just my PCOS again, in spite of months of TTC.

With #3, I was sure I was. Frequent urination and just feeling "different" from about 2 days post ovulation, and then tingling boobs from about a week after. Then my sense of smell became heightened, and I was dead certain I was expecting when the smell of coffee made me feel ill. The TWW wasn't so dreadful with #3, as I was pretty sure I was pregnant within days of ovulation.

you poor thing,
I have a 10 month old and when i was due for my AF I was convinced that
there was no way i was preggas as I had totally missed ovulation that month
and I remember just thinking I am NEVER going to be pregnant and crying to
a friend of mine and she just looked at me and said you are sooo pregnant. I was
sure I wasn't but a few days later I found out I was afterall!!
I had no symptoms till at least 6 - 7 weeks - it is so amazine that you can be carrying the start of a little life and really you don't feel any different for the first little while! (by 6 weeks you'll know it though!! ohhh the tiredness!)
Good luck wont be long till you know!

Just read your post Ardvark and isn't it funny how we are all different! I was just thinking though, I really had no idea what the symptoms could be with my first so if you are aware of these things (eg Frequent urination ) then you probably can tell before AF is due if you are pregnant or not. I'll be on the look out next time!

I knew before my AF was due to arrive....I woke up and felt so ill, DH made me a cup of tea and I took one look at it and:barf: We looked at each other and said "here we go"

Hmm When I was pregnant it was my first time and Iam not sure what had me thinking, but it was before my period came....

I was having hot flushes and was extremely thirsty, i guess initially I thought I had a virus or soemthing..

I had some spotting and thought it was my AF and totally devestated but then it stopped...

once the thought of being pregnant was really in my head, I got ALL the symptoms... wether they were actually there or not is another thing.

I had no clue till my boobs go sore at 5 weeks, and i started feeling really tired, no great emotional feeling that i was pg, except the first month we were trying - I talked myself into that false one!!!

hey sandyj the TWW does suck

This is my first pg and although I did know on some level, we had been trying for almost 6 months and I had thought "this is it" before so didn't put too much faith in myself to correctly interprut the symptoms.

Anyway now my EDD has been confired I can say I knew from 6DPO. I was peeing all the time and had a heavy feeling in my stomach but the thing that gave it away for me was the thick blue veins that appeared in my BB's.

Good luck and don't let the TWW drive you insane :D

I had an inkling :) Even after negative tests.
What made me really know, as I've mentioned before, was a dream I had where someone said to me "Nikki, we all know you're pregnant, you're just trying to think of the best way to tell us." :)

I knew or suspected anyway. I hadn't researched the symtoms and therefore was unaware that the reason i was so tired was that I was pregnant. We had only been trying for the month but I had a feeling I was pregnant so when AF was late I took a test and got the BFP.

This time around I feel like i am again, but don't think it could be because we didn't BD right, so we'll soon see if the feeling is wishful thinking or true when I get the nerve to take a test.

I had a voice in my head tell me I was preg with a girl, a good week before AF due. I wasn't really expecting to be preg so I shrugged it off as me being weird, I'd had no other classic preg symptoms at that stage.
Anyways, I was weeding in the arvo and felt a bit giddy so I thought stuff it I've a test I'll do it. And hey presto, what do you know it was BFP!!:smiliedance: Have to wait another 7 weeks or so to see if the bit about being a girl is right as well.:fingerscrossed:

I always knew before doing a test because my sense of smell became so acute. It was terrible really, smell the wrong thing and I wanted to :barf:

I had no idea until 8+ weeks! We were not actively "trying", but I was not taking the pill anymore either. The funny thing is I had been feeling totally normal and fine, but as soon as I found out I started to get sore boobs, a bit hungrier, more tired etc, weird.....

I was on the pill so not trying! DP kept telling me I was pregnant as I was to "level" and not all hormonal apparently lol so I went to get a test to prove him wrong:D  Oh bum found out when I was 6 weeks gone lol yes my period was late but despite the pill they were never regular so I paid no attention!

Now I have a beautiful daughter :D

WOW wasnt expecting all these posts. thank you all so much for your responses, its great to know some had no idea and some did. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, it certainly comforts me.

Yes well, will find out in the next few days..I am ok but just feel extremely emotional. (I am normally emotional 1 week before my period and cry etc. Its strange!) But this time I feel more emotional than normal. Just want to cry all the time. Im also thinking, that I have a cold so it may be part of it and why I feel so tired.

Its funny, you badly want it to happen but you also tell yourself its 'not happening' because you dont want to get your hopes up.

I know it will happen when its meant to so will try not to get too disappointed if i have no luck this month.

thanks again all

Hi Sandj!

Boy, did I know I was pregnant way before AF was due. I too was really moody and upset. I abused my husband and mother for no good reason and also almost broke down crying because of something completely irrelevant. Then I had cramps (as in stomach - not period) and diarrhoea for a week. We had been trying for 10 months and every month my husband said "You might be pregnant this month!" and I would say, "no, I know that I'm not" but then on the 10th month I was 100% certain. So we did one of those pregnancy tests (Fortel) you can do before your AF is due and it came up negative. I didn't care what it said though because I knew I was pregnant. Then we tested 2 days later and it came up positive! So, to answer your question, for me, I definitely knew but some people don't. I didn't have sore breasts until about week 5 so wouldn't worry too much about that.

I have my fingers crossed for you! :fingerscrossed: Your symptoms sound familiar but if it doesn't happen don't stress because it will happen when the time is right. Good luck! Looking forward to hearing how it goes for you.

i wasn't trying to get pregnant so i just thought i was sick! i was a smoker at the time and whenever i had one i felt like throwing up and i had no idea why (made it easy to quit tho!!). i craved things before i knew and everyone at work thought i was coz one minute i would say 'i really could go for some salami right now' then two minutes later i would say 'hmm starburst jelly beans would really hit the spot'. i was tired, cranky and had to pee all the time and could not go anywhere near cheese to the point where if someone was toasting a cheese sandwhich at work i would go outside til the smell went away! so yeah started to suspect i was pregnant coz i had never felt that way before so i knew the answer before i did the test!
and about the boobs question ... i am the only one with this sympton but mine were itchy (how random) all first trimester!!

Thanks Olivia, congratulations on your luck! you must be so happy!

Yes not long to go and I will find out hopefully by the weekend I will know?!

But can I wait that long? Im not a very patient person :banghead:

I guess if anything, this experience has taught me that nothing is in my control (I am a bit of a control freak) and I have to learn to be patient

OMG it is Sunday and still NO AF!!!!!!!!!!

I cant believe it! I did a test yesterday and got a PFN BUT after about 8mins or so I swear i saw a very faint line! (not sure if it was my eyes playing tricks! but DH saw it too) I know the test is invalid after 10mins but if u look at it now the faint line is still there!

I keep feeling like AF is coming but i am also having waves of nausea ..also am STARVING all the time then feeling sick, then tired..these seem to be the only wave of symptoms i am getting.

Its def. different from when i get my normal AF..so its very cruel if AF is still coming!

Im going out to get another test today see how i go. I have to say that i "feel" like i am but am scared to get my hopes up!

i guess the other symptoms i have is i had a strong smell sensation on friday night, i have been extra forgetful and also just my moods have made me act so irrational! been very upset over dumb things!

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh fingers crossed!!!!!!!!! :fingerscrossed:

Well besides that "feeling" i had of just knowing i had sore breasts, my whole body was tired like i hadnt slept all day, i was snappy & moody & the look of egg or the smell or nething to do with egg made me feel :barf: and this was all within a few weeks of me being preggie that was my first pregnancy. With this one i didnt get anything like that...only just felt tired!

Sanj, my mum said she had a warm fuzzy feeling in her stomach about 2 weeks after she started trying (to have me). She knew she was pregnant. No other symptoms. Then she went the doctor and he said "Oh I think it is a bit early" and he tested her anyway. Well she was right and along I came 9 months later.

Also Sanj, if you have a very faint second line on your pregnancy test, there is a big chance that you may be pregnant. I would test again in a day or two to see if it becomes darker. Good luck.

well did another test and got the second line, is quite faint but its def. THERE!!!!!!!!!! I just know that I am and 99.9% sure i am..will test again in about 2 days.

OMG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so excited and scared and thrilled and everything. I showed DH and we both just cried. (it takes a lot for him to cry!) what a shock today has been! although I do feel it.

I did know, but having said that, we were TTC for over 2 years before I got those 2 lines!! And many times previously I thought I was PG & it turned out I wasn't.

When I was PG though, I felt quite certain & would not only have been very upset if that test was neg, but also very surprised. The other thing was that I was charting BBT, so that also indicated that I was PG. This may have had a lot to do with it!

Hey! Just saw your new post!! CONGRATS!!! Sounds positive!!!:D :D
