gawd i can't stop eating!!! does anyone else feel like this? could it be from breastfeeding all the time?
amanda: i went to target today and didn't even realise they had a baby sale on! I had to get another sleeping bag for T and it ended up super cheap! I would of bought more if i knew!
Cindye: yeah i find T goes through moments of fussing more than other times... somedays he's pretty good, others it's a struggle.
He really hates his late arvo naps, he's not so bad going off in the morning ones though, i'm not sure what the deal is there?!
mel: yeah it takes me ages to get a lot of expressed milk out... but i find i just keep going and eventually i start seeing it spray a bit, that's pretty exciting! haha Although i don't think it's supposed to hurt? What kind of pump do u use?
kayla: ooh you poor thing going through all that sh*t with your ex! i hope it goes smoothly for you! why can't he just grow up and take responsibility ! grrr
pj: that's great you got to unwind with a few drinks... us mums need to unwind more often!
how did you find giving Rory formula after breastfeeding? Does she sleep through longer?
RM: yeah T is similar with the night waking! we haven't had a good long stretch through the night in aaaages! That's great Ry is going to get looked at earlier! YAY for wine! hehe
Cassie: awww cuuute pics!! love them!
Vee: ooh that's great Josh was good at DC!
Heya Meggz, Bel, ametrine, xanthia
Last night T would just cry as soon as i popped him in the cot after his feed :( i got upset too... luckily DP was up (he was having coffee at 1;30am! WTF?) so he calmed T down and did nappy change, but i still had to boobyfeed T back to sleep again and let him sleep in bed next to me! grrr i don't want to get into that habit but it's the only way he calms down at night!
HBP - I was told by the nurse in the hospital to lay Jarvis on top of warm towels that she put in the microwave as he likes the heat laying next to me and guess what it worked .. im sure your doing a perfect job though..... Jarvis still hasnt made it to his bed and he is 9 weeks old.. now that he is a little bit more settled i need to try and put him in there.. he is staying on the antibiotics until he goes to westmead childrens so i should try it while i know they are working..
cindye - can you try and give water inbetween milk feeds????
PJ - How old is Aurora?? J was 6.5kg at 9 weeks... Although every thinks he is older he even looks older i should post a pic..
Can i suggest getting the booster seat/high chair we have both and i have never used th ebig chunky one we use the one at the table with the table attached again i will find a pic.. Im getting another one for jarvis so much cheaper and easier to use.. you can take it any where..

gawd i can't stop eating!!! does anyone else feel like this? could it be from breastfeeding all the time?
d take responsibility ! grrr
pj: that's great you got to unwind with a few drinks... us mums need to unwind more often!

Same here, yes and same here. :) She does sleep longer with formula but I try and avoid giving it too her unless I'm really tired or want to drink. I eat heaps at night and get really hungry at 1am and again at 6am. I've managed to sleep through her restless stirrings for a couple of nights but she always ends up in my bed at some point. She's fast asleep in there now after being awake for most of the night and morning.
The man of the house is driving me nuts today, it only takes a week of constantly being around each other before we start arguing flat out. He refuses to come to a friends sons birthday tomorrow, probably better that he doesn't come. That means I'll have to look after two kids while trying to have a normal conversation with other adults and breast feeding at a party....not really looking forward to it, but I feel obligated to go. At least I can use Aurora as an excuse to leave early!
Bel- I wanted to get a booster, but (this is so embarrassing) we don't own a dining table, or even a coffee table! We have a kitchen table but no chairs  The ones we had have slowly been destroyed by the cats and Jasmine over the last few years. I think I may look at getting a high&low chair. At least I still have a few months before its needed. Aurora is 7weeks5days today, the nurse said she's right in the middle of the growth chart where she's meant to be. Jarvis must be a big boy! Rory is quite small but so was Jasmine and now she's above average for height.

PJ- Im getting legal aid so i dont have to pay anything but my ex has to pay the court costs (if it goes there) and for the DNA test as he works. As for the father being on the birth certificate i dont no why there telling me he has to go on as i have heard of a few people say there childs father isnt on te birth certificate. Tell me to mind my own bussiness if u want but have u eva seen ur father? r u ok with not having him on ur birth certificate?
HBP- Im always hungry and also always drinking water, i try to only eat healthy as i want to lose weight :o but i have to admit sometimes i pig out lol, but with BF we can eat an extra 500- 600 calories a day.
cindye- All bubs go though an unsettled stage, Jaylen did wat bella is doing but things are finally back on track again and his being a angel. Bella will be her normal self again soon im sure.
Bel- thinking of u and Jarvis.
Cassie- love the photos, u have 2 very beauitful babies.

Hi ladies,
Thanks for your thoughts/advice/tips on my expressing debacle. I must be doing it wrong because I tried again this morning and got about 20 drops, then did it manually and got 25mls . I'm using a brand called Cherub, which is an electric pump and can't be used manually so that's a bummer. Nevermind, I'll keep perservering, or talk to my MCHN next time I see her.
RM, I spoke to my MCHN last week about filling L up at night and she said to either feed him an hour or so earlier than he should be fed prior to big overnight sleep (which I've been doing) or give him some formula to fill him up. Some nights the topping him up thing works, others it doesn't, so I still have no clue. I just go with the flow, whatever happens happens, but if you find the answer please let me know. This week he's been having 4 hour sleeps at night, which is better than 3 but still not enough  (for me anyway).
Also, glad to hear that Ry will be seen earlier rather than later and hopefully you can find out exactly what you're dealing with (hopefully nothing) and figure out a way to fix the problem. Goodluck, keep us updated, I have everything crossed for you all and I'm looking forward to hearing that he is just fine!
cindye, great to hear from you. I hope Bella sorts herself out, I'm sure she will before long.
hbp, don't worry about getting into bad habits by having T in bed with you. During these early days you do what you have to do to get some rest, you can worry about routines and breaking bad sleeping habits later down the track. I also get really hungry and, like Kayla, drink lots of water. I haven't had any chocolate for over a week and I think I'm having withdrawals today. Breastfeeding is definately what's making you hungry all the time.
Ametrine, you mentioned proper breast feeding freezer bags. I don't have any of those, I just used normal freezer bags, is that really silly of me? Shows how much I express doesn't it??
Bel, sorry to hear that little Jarvis needs more tests. I hope he will be ok, it must be so tiring and upsetting for you, I can only imagine. My thoughts are with you and your family.
Cass, love your photos. Both of your kids have gorgeous dark eyes.
What colour are everyone else's babies eyes? L's are blue atm, but E's were too when she was a baby and changed to a greeny/hazel colour (the same as her dads) they are a beautiful colour. I have blue eyes and I'm hoping L's stay blue, but not holding my breath.
 to everyone else, I hope you're having a lovely weekend. We went grocery shopping this morning and are just chilling out at home this arvo. E has a birthday party to go to tomorrow so that should be fun (for her), lol! I would love to take her to the Dora Concert that is coming to Melbourne next month. I wanted to make a day of it and catch a train into the city, but you can't take prams (how silly) so I don't think we'll be going.
Anyhoo, better go and do something useful with myself while L is asleep.

Mel- Jaylens eyes r blue, they were dark brown when he was born, i have no idea where has has got blye eyes from as both my Jay's dad and i have brown eyes and so do the people in our families.
Thanks for sharing photos of ur beauitful children, L is so adorable and Em is geogours.

i thought all babies were born with blue eyes and then they change afterwards...
T has luurvely blue eyes, i hope he keeps them! DP has blue, i have greenyblue.
Maan i am exhausted... i haven't had one good block of sleep for the past two weeks :( I am soo tempted to give T a top up of formula tonight to see if it makes any difference. I would be happy for just one 4 hour block of sleep even!
ALthough i think he is waking because of wind still.. when does this stop? Do they reach a point where they can deal with it and it doesn't aggrivate them?
Mel: re the chocolate, i have been off it all week and T is still unsettled at night. I also read on the kellymom.com website that food should not affect the behaviour of bubs, so you shouldn't have to give up the things u love hehee
Gorgeous pics by the way!! Linc and Em are sooo cuute together!
I actually think i am now feeding T more during the night than the day time! how did this happen? ALthough i suspect it's mostly snacking as he drifts off to sleep after about 5 mins on the boob. I think i might have to say good bye to liedown feeds as he is just getting too comfy, then he'll wake half an hour after i put him back in the cot (if not 5 minutes later!) and wont go back unless boobyfed! grrr
PJ: yeah i know what you mean about DP driving u nuts if you spend too much time together! I get like that in this place where we are living sometimes if we don't get out and do things. It's much better when we are out and about
gotta go feed back soon

HBP- all babies arent born with blue eyes, jay's were really dark for the first mth then slowy started going lighter till they reached blue also my nieces little girl was born with dark eyes and still has them. I've seen lots of bubs born with dark eyes.

Hi Ladies,
I haven't been on in a while. I have been really busy. I went into the city the other day to get our tax done and forgot to take our tax stuff. I keep doing stuff like that, think it is as I am so tired.
Liam was sleeping through a few weeks ago, but only keept it up for a week and stopped. Does anyone know why this could be? Tonight I am going to try what someone (can't remember who) said in the solids thread and give him a top up bottle after his last breastfeed tonight.
I never heard anything back from his poo test so will have to ring the paed. They are starting to get less runny though, but he still has bad reflux.
I bought a hi-low chair form the Target sale, but we wern't happy with the quality after putting it together. I does not seem very stable. We are thinking of taking it back.
Kayla: Sorry to hear you are still having troubles getting the birth cert.
Well I am off to bed. Not sure if I should wake Liam to feed him or try and dfo a dream feed, or just go to sleep until her wakes up?
gawd i can't stop eating!!! does anyone else feel like this? could it be from breastfeeding all the time?
Tonight i have snacked so much after dinner and i feel like baking a chocolate cake, im so hungry it's terrible!

Tonight i have snacked so much after dinner and i feel like baking a chocolate cake, im so hungry it's terrible!
LOL!! Vee - I'm the same - I'm really, really, really bad at snacking of a night time now!!! I had four muffins tonight after dinner
So now that we have a nice, shiny new thread, I'm going to try and keep up :D
HBP - I agree with Mel - don't stress too much about T forming bad habits at this stage. You need to do what you need to do to make sure you all get a good night's rest. Happy mummy = happy baby, and happy baby = happy mummy, so if he wants a bit of a cuddle in bed with you - don't get too stressed out about it. Just enjoy it while he still wants to sleep with you!! They grow up all too quickly and soon don't need their mummy cuddles anymore :( Hope that you get a decent night's sleep tonight.
RM - so glad to hear that Ry is being seen sooner now - that must be a huge relief. I hope everything is okay - please do keep us updated. No advice on getting S to go back to her previous sleeping habits unfortunately - but you did have it VERY good right from the beginning!! I'm sure it won't be long until she settles back down and is sleeping for longer periods.
Mel - I'm glad Em's better. Did she have fun at the party today? Gorgeous piccies of Em and Linc too. He is such a little cutie!!! And I don't think he looks that big at all - he looks lovely and healthy and I just want to cuddle him!! Char seems so little compared to everyone else's babies - but she is a good couple of weeks younger too, so I need to remember that! Charlotte's eyes are blue at the moment - though DH reckons he can see a bit of green in them! He has green eyes, so obviously wants C to have them too! Isaac's are still very blue though, so maybe hers won't change.
Miranda - how did your job interview go? I don't have any answers as to why Liam started sleeping through and then stopped - but he is still so little. They do only have little tummies, so they need to be filled up regularly. I know its frustrating when you hear of all of these other babies sleeping through, and all you want is a good nights sleep (trust me - I had 15 months of wake ups with DS), but every baby is different, and just because Liam isn't sleeping through doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong. He'll surprise you again next week and start sleeping through again
Amanda - how was Twin Waters? Hope you had a lovely time with the family?
Kayla - I hope everything gets sorted out with Jay's dad. It sounds like you're coping remarkably well with everything that is going on though.
Vee - how did Josh go at daycare? And how did YOU go without him being at home? I'm thinking of putting Is in daycare maybe a half day a week - and building up to one day - it's just a matter of finding somewhere that someone can recommend, and finding the money for it as well!! And, of course, the courage to actually leave him alone with someone else!!
Meegz - are you still coming to Canberra next month? IF so - I'd love to meet Hunter - and you of course!!
I braved the Target toy sale the other day too. Went on the Friday though, so it wasn't too crazy. Managed to get presents for I's birthday as well as Christmas on layby - so quite pleased. Even got a couple of toys for Char - nothing much though - she's still going to be too little to appreciate it this year, and I'm sure her grandparents will spoil her rotten. Did however, go back into PP and once again, spend way too much money on cute little girl outfits. She has an entire winter wardrobe for next year though
Should go and get some sleep. DH went to the snow on Friday with his best mate who flew down from Qld, and now he's sick, so I think I may have three babies to care for tomorrow! LOL!
Twin Waters was lovely IM - we managed to get one full day of sunshine which was great...but on a whloe just ate, laughed and relaxed (well as much as possible with 2 kids!) which is as all good holidays should be!
V - really glad Josh enjoyed his day, and hope you did too!!!
RM - Thta's great news for Ryan...hopefully if there is anything that does need further investigation it can all go smoothly for you (does that change any availability for a meet?? Just waiting to hear back from 2 others about the Monday idea, so will get in contact with all the Brissie Mum's after that)...and can't help on the sleeping - we're back to 4 hr lots, but C was at least 6 months before we consistently longer than that, so I think we're in for a bit more of a haul yet. I think 12 weeks is also time for their next growth spurt, so we're hitting that now.
Mitchell had his first night in his own cot last night and it was coooollllddd when I had to get up to feed :o But we all survived the experience
Cassie - beautiful photos!
Chocolate cake hmmm...
Ive mentioned to Miranda already but if your in sydney im having a scrapbook afternoon at my house......
Well did another test for Jarvis... will find out at the end of the week i guess this is the one that landed him in hospital the first time.. have to ring westmead childrens to book the test in a minute.. Jarvis is still yet to make it to his bed and im still on the lounge... because he is in pain so often i dont even try his bed at the moment.. as i will have to get up every 20 mins.. and with foxtel i just watch that while holding him....
Kayla any more news on the DNA test will you find out if he agrees or just wait and see..
Amandaw- did you take a pic??
My sister works near a traget country shop so she called and bought every thing i needed as there was no one in the shop....
Better run i can hear sienna and i take it she isnt napping .. we have playgroup today
Thinking of taking the kids to Wiggles world at dreamworld for my birthday.. how many brissie mums are on here....???
Jarvis has his christening this weekend i really hope he doesnt get a pain in the middle of it as he can scream for hours...
There's six of us Bel (Brissie Mum's that is)... when are you heading up this way?..oh and if you do plan on going, go and get the half price ticket things from the target sale - definitely more money friendly
Good luck with all Jarvis's stuff - I'm so suprised it's taken this long to get any sort of answer....poor bugger...and was that photos in cot or on holidays? Have some of both which will put up when i get organised
Forgot to say earlier - M's birth certificates finally arrived :smiliedance: Murphy's Law though - our usually very early postman (he's usually 8.30 on the dot) hadn't arrived when we left at 11 on Friday....and of course the bc arrived then  Glad it was still there yesterday arvo! We got the head top view one for his decorational one and I really like it!
oh and miracles of all miracles - m just fell asleep on his own, in his cot, on his back  Has was starting to zone out in his rocker, so put him in 4 cries and he's gone  We'll see how long he sleep, bu still, all pointing to good things!
(oh and was also going to say earlier, top up feeds never worked with us for Charlotte, and don't appear to with M....most of their issues seem to stem from gas, so topping them up only added more to the system and made them wake up because they were uncomfortable...M will only sleep about 1 1/2 hrs after his last feed and that's whne he seems to have the better sleeps)
 Got a 'good' 25 min out of him *groan* oh well

Mel - I'm glad Em's better. Did she have fun at the party today?
Yes she had a great time thanks for asking :D
I braved the Target toy sale the other day too.
I went early this morning and got 3 things for E, a barbie sleeping bag, a baby carrier that turns into 4 other things (a bag, a rocker, a feeding chair and something else) and a board game (wiggle giggle). We usually buy her something big (last year was a swing set, the year before a trampoline) and a few smaller things but this year we will just buy a heap of smaller things I think. I tried to get L a few things at Target today too, but he cracked it (as usual ) so we had to leave.
I hope your hubby isn't too sick from his weekend away. I would love to take the kids to the snow when L is a bit bigger, E saw some on a trip to NZ but it wasn't much.
Mitchell had his first night in his own cot last night
Glad to hear that your weekend away was fun, and YAY for M sleeping in his cot and for putting himself to sleep earlier, even if it was only for 25 mins, it's better than nothing.
Thinking of taking the kids to Wiggles world at dreamworld for my birthday..
Jarvis has his christening this weekend
I absolutely love, love, love Wiggles World. We had so much fun there when we went last year. E still raves about it and every time she sees it on telly she says 'can we go there again mum?'. I think she thinks it's just around the corner, but we'll definately be going there again!
I hope Jarvis' christening goes well!
I took E to her friend's birthday party and I can't believe how b!tchy some little girls are, even at this age. I thought I had a few years before I had to worry about all that stuff. One day E comes home from kinder and is friends with someone, the next day they're not friends, or that little girl doesn't like E anymore, and I was sitting at the party and overheard a little girl tell another little girl that she hated MY daughter :crying:. My natural reaction was to go over and tell that little girl to stop being so mean to my child, I mean how could anyone hate MY gorgeous, funny, loving, carefree, thoughtful girl. Hubby thinks I'm overreacting and that there will be many more years of that stuff to come and that I need to get a thicker skin when it comes to E, but it's so hard being a parent - you want to protect them from everything and anyone hurting them in any way, so where do you draw the line?? When she says that someone doesn't like her or if they're mean to her I say 'thats ok honey, you just tell them "no worries, its your loss" and go and play with someone else'
Anyway, that's my gripe for the day. I'm off to do some chores & to cook lasagne while E is at kinder & L is asleep.
LOL!! Vee - I'm the same - I'm really, really, really bad at snacking of a night time now!!! I had four muffins tonight after dinner

Yes, i think Cam is having a growth spurt so more continuous feeds means i'm so hungry! lol Josh went superbly at Daycare, such a little superstar, he didn't want to leave when i went to get him, he showed me stuff and asked me to draw a picture with him, then he did some puzzles, he even hugged and kissed the carers goodbye, he normally doesn't like new people at all, all in all it was a great experience and i think he's looking forward to it. I was really ok, DH was a bit lost, asked 3 times where Josh was, he thought he was sleeping cause the house was so quiet!
So jealous of your DH going to the snow, would love to go to the snow again, have to wait till the kiddies are bigger thoug.
Thanks lovely, glad to hear Twin waters was nice, i thought at least the weather was semi-decent you would have had a good time, still so cold though at times! So cute, 25 mins is better than nothing! lol
Chocolate cake hmmm...

Wiggles world is ok, Josh was a bit too young when we went there i think, he was just over two, i remember being pregnant when we went so it wasn't much fun for me either! lol Goodluck for Jarvis's christening hope it's a lovely day and i hope the results come back and you get some answers. :hugs:
Cassie - Your kids are gorgeous, thanks for sharing the pics, too cute!

Maybe Cam's will come this week or next then cause Mitchell is a week or so older than Cam, so might only be another week away, it's ridiculous waiting so long! I want to see the nice one i got.
Anyway, that's my gripe for the day. I'm off to do some chores & to cook lasagne while E is at kinder & L is asleep.
Awww, i am the same Josh has only been at daycare one day but it breaks my heart to think that some kid might be mean to him or not want to play with him. You are so right you just want to protect them and say, hey there is nothing wrong with my little one, and your right if they don't want to be friends with E than it's their loss! :p Loved the pics of your two aswell, just too precious!
HBP - I read your post about little T waking through the night so much and not sleeping much through the day and thought, i'm not sure what i'd do cause Cam's never done that - until last night that is! I swear he must of woke up 7 times, so almost every hour, as soon as i finish feeding get myself comfy enough to go back to deep sleep he'd wake up again, so i never got any decent sleep, so today i slept in till 1pm with him! Whoops! I think i needed though last night was a shocker!
Anywho, looking forward to the week and getting some uni work done. Hope all is well with you all.
My birthday is the 7th Nov just booked to go yay!!!! If any one can afford to join us at drem world i would love to see you if not we can still organise to meet up as we have people to visit in brisbane too..
Jarvis has been screaming all day so when i asked DH if i could book of cause he said yes he knows what i go through with these kids.. J is asleep for the minute.. i booked all the tests as well as dropping of the sample this morning... they had better not try and stick him in hospital this weekend while he has his christening.... he has to get 2 tests where they inject stuff into his body.. i will be glad when its all over...

well we just got back from a weigh in and Tigerbums put on 300grams in one week! YAY! so i'm happy with that, and that is all boobyfed!
So at least those all night feeding sessions have paid off!
Mind you he did a spew and massive poop after we left and probably lost another 100 g but still, least he's putting a bit more on! phew!
Vee: that's great about Josh in DC!
OK gotta scoot... sorry can't chat long! xox

Tell me to mind my own bussiness if u want but have u eva seen ur father? r u ok with not having him on ur birth certificate?
From what I know unless there is a reason why the father can't sign (as in you're unsure of paternity) then only the mother needs to be on the certificate. I think this is what happened in my case. No, never seen him. Doesn't really bother me now, the only way I'm going to know a name is if my mum decided to tell me the truth. I've been told conflicting stories and have just come to accept I may never know.
Hi ladies,
I'm using a brand called Cherub, which is an electric pump and can't be used manually so that's a bummer. Nevermind, I'll keep perservering, or talk to my MCHN next time I see her.
I was using a cherub too (until I melted it in the microwave). I didn't like it, I found it extremely hard to get the milk out and it caused me pain too. I'd suggest trying a different pump, I went back to my old trusy Medela much more comfortable.
DP ended up coming to the party yesterday, we had a nice time. Aurora got passed around most of the time so I really didn't have to do too much other than feed her. Injections for Aurora and a pap smear for me tomorrow, not looking forward to it at all.
How many feed per day should a baby be having at 8 weeks? Today she's been having five minute snack feeds and we're back to feeding from one side. Maybe the couple of bottles of formula last night messed with her system. I don't like supplementing, but sometimes I just need a break.
We've finally been getting some smiles in the last few days which is nice. Dinner hasn't turned out so well, the lasagne is cooked but the pasta isn't
Glad the smiles have arrived for you PJ!
Not sure what is 'normal' in terms of feeds, but M (12 weeks) usually has 6-7 per 24hr cycle - usually 4 hrly, but occassionally sneaks an extra one in late arvo
HBP - that's great news! So now you can tell your doc to BACK OFF (in the nicest possible manner )

amanda: hehe yeah i know, it's a great weight gain!
AND lol i think i did about 6 feeds in a 12 hour period last night! haha but i am trying to put the weight on T so feeding as much as possible...
i don't mind in the day time but night time is draaaining!
ANd sorry to state the obvious but how *** freeezing is it!??
Wiggles world is ok, Josh was a bit too young when we went there i think, he was just over two, i remember being pregnant when we went so it wasn't much fun for me either! lol Goodluck for Jarvis's christening hope it's a lovely day and i hope the results come back and you get some answers. :hugs:
.
My nephew was about 14 mths and loved it....
Not sure if i should throw it out but i have a manual pump that can be steralised... it connects to one you can hire to make it an electric one

See I reckon it's warmer today...but maybe that's just cause I've actually got out of my Pj's today :o:laughing:....getting ready for the 4 degree morning tomorrow though....oh please sleep through tonight Mitchell
Do you mean throw it out or sell it Bel? Is there anyone you know who can make use of it? Mine was actually 2nd hand - paid $30 to a good friend of mine, though she was happy to give it away (felt a bit dodgy about it to start and then realised it was just plastic and easily steralised, and wasn't even sure if I'd use it or not so didn't want to shell out for a new one if I wasn't going to use it)

Must have been national Lasagne day yesterday:laughing: We had it for dinner too - just finishing off some of it now for an early lunch. Yummo.
I think it's warmer today too Amanda, we've been sitting out in the sun this morning - contemplating the garden. I've had a few pots of colour and herbs on the back verandah for the past few weeks but in the past two nights, the possums have come up and 'harvested' them - little buggers. I'm working out where I can plant the harvested rootballs and where I can hang some hanging baskets:rolleyes: S and I are off to the nursery soon.
It's DH's birthday this weekend so Sunday we have a family lunch and then a party with friends from mid-afternoon. Just planning the menu, should be a great night but I think I'll have S in a sling to make sure that excited kids don't step on her. Not sure how she'll go for that long but I'm sure that there will be a few hands willing to hold her for a little while whilst I'm in and out of the kitchen. Hopefully I'll have everything pre-prepared. Just a few little yummies that I can have pre-done in the fridge and just throw them in the oven when I need them.
S is doing well. Her sleeping is getting better again, still one wake up per night (around 3am) but that's fine with me. I put her in her cot the other night and she woke up and started to cry. I left her for no more than 2 minutes as I was putting Ry to bed....when I came out, she had gone straight to sleep:confused: DH had to go in and check that she was okay which she was. The next night, she didn't cry but more like called out for not even 2 minutes, once again - fast asleep. Nice. Ry wasn't great at self-setting but S seems to be going well thankfully.
Mel, I completely understand about the bullying. We went to Byron the other day and Ry was telling his friends at daycare when we were leaving that he was going to the 'beach'. They were all standing around him saying 'no you're not, you're lying, you're not going to the beach'. Ry was getting so frustrated (it's such a big thing for a 4 year old:o) and was almost close to tears. I stepped in and grabbed his hand and told them all where we were off to and suggested that they use much nicer manners next time. He also comes home saying that kids that he was best friends with yesterday aren't his friend anymore (but will be again the next day). The one that worries me at the moment is with his clothes. He won't wear something new for fear that the kids will 'laugh at him'. I often have to convince him to wear something and then have DH come up and tell him how cool it looks. Why does this happen so early? Why are 4 year olds having to deal with this sort of thing? It really saddens me. Hugs for Em - those little girls don't deserve to have her as a friend if they act that way.
Okay, going to get a couple of things done while S is snoozing.

Vee - I'm so glad that Josh enjoyed daycare. It makes it so much easier knowing that they can have a wonderful time there, and not miss you TOO much. Guess it'll take a while for Milo to get used to Josh not being around a couple of days a week! I was very jealous about DH going to the snow too and leaving me at home with the two kids  Though, he's sick now, so probably a good thing we didn't go :p He managed to hit a kangaroo in our new car too so I think he's wishing he'd stayed at home with the kids now!!! Never mind. Hoping to go to the snow one of these weekends - but it's just such a big trip - and I don't know if I can find warm enough clothes for C to wear!
Amanda - glad that you had a nice weekend away, and you got one nice sunshine-y day! And YAY for M sleeping in his cot yesterday - even if it was only for 25 minutes. They have to start off somewhere, hey?!
HBP - WOW! 300g in a week! GO T :smiliedance: That's fantastic!! Now he just needs to start sleeping a bit better for you at night time, and everything would be perfect!! That's a great weight gain - you must be so proud - of both yourself and your gorgeous boy!!
Mel and RM - I can't believe what Em and Ry are going through at kinder/day care. Are 4 year olds really that mean??!! My goodness. Thank goodness they have such wonderful mothers in yourselves who can reassure them that they ARE wonderful children and it really is the other kids loss if they don't want to be friends with them. I guess kids are eventually exposed to this sort of behaviour, but I didn't think at 4 it would be so bad.
PJ - how'd you go today? I had C booked in for her immunisations today, got there, checked in, waited for 15 minutes, all to be told we're a week early - they won't immunise her at 8 weeks, she has to be 2 calendar months, and to come back in a week :hair: I mean the clinic is who booked the appointment in, surely they would have known she needed to be 2 months as opposed to 8 weeks for her shots. Gggrrrrrr!! Just annoyed because I'd geared myself up for her getting her shots today, and now I have to wait another week.
Bel - I really hope that you can get some answers about Jarvis soon. I can't believe you still don't have anything to go on, and you're still having to go in for tests. Poor little J. I hope everyone can get some answers soon. Wiggles world sounds like fun!! I'm sure you'll all have a great time. We're looking at flying to Brissie in November too - but the weekend before you'll be up there, so we'll miss you. Maybe if you come to Canberra anytime soon we can meet up.
Oh and you Brissie girls whinging about the cold - honestly  :p Guess none of you will be coming to visit me down here in Canberra during the winter then??!! I'm dreading the gas bill for this quarter - our heat has been constantly going for the last month. That's why C's still in her snuggle bed in our bed - there's no way I'm getting up at 3am in the morning when it's -3 to feed her!! I'm so selfish!
So here's a question for the May mummies - does anyone have a babe with strawberry blonde / reddish hair? Or has had a baby with strawberry blonde / reddish hair? C does - and we have no idea where it comes from, and are just wondering whether it means she'll be a redhead, or if it'll all fall out and change colour? Is had really, really black hair as a baby, and it all fell out and now it's a dark blondey sort of colour, so we're just curious?
I have some piccies of the girl too - will be back later to post them. Want to see pics of all the other May babies too! Love seeing what everyone's little ones look like.
What aryou doing tomorrow if DH hasnt booked a flight we could go to canberra with him if he is willing to drive!!!!
Oh about the pump.. in hospital they just steralise them so if any one needs one.. i dont sell things i cant its not in my nature but im happy to send it to some one.. as you know it was only used for a week any way.

But we won't :smiliedance: - looks like November is gearing up to be a busy month
That's odd about the immunisations - they did M at 8 weeks, I only realised it was meant to be 2 months when I was telling DH all his stats when we got home - is C on the small side that maybe the extra week was a necessity???
And no, thankfully don't have a red head - absolutely no offence intended to anyone, but red hair does run on DH's side, and does skip generations.....DH's cousin and his wife are both dark haired and managed a red haired DH, and have to explain it everywhere they go! DH has a little red in his eyebrows, and his sister and Mum are both stong red heads so there was a great chance!
And will join you in the photo upping later - got in trouble from DH for using all the download last time (as well as taking a long time or others without broadband) because I didn't scale down all the pictures I uploaded into webshots :o so need to learn how to do it!!

Just saw your post Bel, sorry for not replying earlier :o I have a sick husband at the moment - you know - the man flu  So I dare say I'll be looking after him tomorrow, poor guy!! Plus I really, really need to go grocery shopping, but am dreading it. How often does your DH come to Canberra? I'll definitely be up to meeting you, Sienna and Jarvis the next time he's out this way if you feel up to the trip.
And can I just say - you're so generous Bel. What a wonderful person you are offering to give your stuff away :hugs:
But we won't - looks like November is gearing up to be a busy month

Yes - it looks like November will be VERY busy!! DH's cousin is getting married the first weekend in November - so we're still tossing up whether or not to make the trip up. We'd like too - but it's a lot of money for one weekend, and DH is REALLY busy with work. I'd love to meet up with you Brissy gals one day though!! I wish I was still up there :crying: Though, if we still lived in Qld, I'd probably be working, so wouldn't get a chance to meet you anyway! LOL!
It was VERY odd about the immunisations. I guess C is on the small side - I haven't weighed her for a while, but she was just above the 50th percentile for weight and length at her 6 week check up though - so I suppose she is little. It's not a huge deal, I'm just annoyed because we drove all the way out there for no reason :banghead: I don't have any infant panadol here though, so probably a good thing I have an extra week to remember to buy the stuff when I go down town next!!
And the red hair thing is just bizarre. It must be from DH's side of the family because our niece (his brother's little girl) has red, red, red hair as well. DH's mum and dad are convinced it's not from either of their sides though, so who knows??!! Thankfully there haven't been too many questions asked as of yet!!
And now - some photos!!

Just in the middle of cooking dinner so just a quick post! sorry no personals, i will try and pop back in later.
Jaylen went to see a surgeon today about his penis and the news wasnt good, Jay does need to have surgery on his penis around 6mths of age they cant do it any younger because its too dangerous. I thought it was only a little bend but its all whole lot more then that, the surgeon has to fix the bend (make it straight) then the rest of his penis has to be reconstructed, skin has to be taken from his foreskin and used to make one side longer. ARRR!!!! I cryed on the one home because i hate the thought of my happy, smiley, talkive, little boy turning into a unhappy, in pain, little boy, i cant stand the thought of him having surgery. My mum explained to me that i needed to be strong for Jaylen or else he would be effected more because he would pick up on my feelings.
Cost me $150 to see the surgeon and i was in there for a whole of 10 mintures  so i walked out of there feeling very *** angry at Jays dad for not paying a cent where here i am a single mum supporting Jaylen and trying to do the best i can and he is getting good money and doing it easy, i hate him i really do. :banghead: .
I better get back to dinner, lets hope its not burnt .

Poor Jaylen, at least he's so young that he won't really remember the pain. I'm sure you'll get things sorted out eventually, the whole process takes time and I'm sure he's probably dragging his heels as well.
Rory had her injections today, she cried a lot but fell asleep pretty much straight after and is only waking up now. I'm hoping we don't have any bad side effects.
I bought another potty for Jasmine today a Sesame one that can be used from 6+ months. Its better than what we had, but she still refuses to use it. The latest excuse is that it has Elmo pictures and she doesn't like Elmo (serisoulsy who doesn't like Elmo!!:hair:) so we have to cover it with Dora stickers and hope that works. I'm starting to think Aurora will be using it before she will...
DP got his tax back and lost more than half of it to Centrelink...(a debt he had from years ago) he may be able to get some of it back due to financial hardship. Its such a pain, I should know by now not to rely on anything. I got my hopes up that we would be able to purchase some much needed items (such as a dining table) with his tax. Oh well, that'll teach me not to be so optimistic.
Bel- your pump sounds like the one I have, you can use it manually but its a bit of a pain. Mine has cracks in it but still works ok, is yours a Medela?

Hi Ladies,
Not much is new except we have all had the flu in our house. Liam has been coping well, been really good until tonight – has some reflux right now. Also Liam rolled over from his tummy to his back today.
Isaacs Mummy: The interview went OK thanks. I have not heard back so don’t think I got it. Also even though it is part time it sounds like it will end up being full time load but then only get paid for part time as the reason it is vacant is a woman left as she had two kids and it was too much. Now Liam is a bit more settled I sort of don’t want to go back to work now.
Amanda; Glad to hear you survived the first night of Mitchell being in his own cot. We had Liam in his cot but have moved him back to our room as too cold a night, we are all in our room with the heater on.
Bel: Good luck with Jarvis’s Christening and the tests. How have you even had time to organise it. I am wanting to organise a naming ceremony for L but haven’t had time.
Kayla: Maybe you should tell birth deaths and marriages that you don’t know who the father is and that you had a few partners at the time, that way they can’t make you put the father on there, lol.
IM - C's certainly gorgeous! Does she eat her puffer vest?? I love overalls on bubs, but constantly kick myself for it when i put them in their carseat and we end up with sopping clothes and a baby that wants to be feed because they've been sucking - would've thought I'd learn by the 2nd one! I would be lovely to meet you all so if you do end up coming, I'm sure we could arrange for a quick coffee to fit in with your schedule
Kayla - I guess it's a case of trying to be positive and being thankful that they picked it up now...while there will be concern for a while, i guess it's better than having an effect on either his urinary or sexual function as he grows (omg...can't believe M will become a man ) and also less of an issue than having to have to have the op later...some definite :hugs: to you though!
(oh, and as a little side note - if you know you are going to be really stressed by it all, start thinking about expressing milk in say a months time, that way if your supply is affected by stress, you can still attach J for comfort feeds/sucks, knowing that you have EBM so he is well and truly fed and comfortable...some more :hugs:)
PJ - sucky news about them taking part of the tax return, but at least another debts been cleared (again, trying the positive spin!) I know what you you mean about planning in advance - i got so excited with mine and DH's returns, then realised that the HEC's part hadn't autofilled, so there was three grand automatically gone  - not so excited about it's return anymore ...and do you think your DD1 may go straight to the toilet? We got C a little padded insert (rather than a potty) and while we haven't had anything in the actual toilet, she is quite happy to sit on there (and makes all the animal noises because it has Dumbo, Lady and the Tramp etc on it)...we're taking the whole thing softly softly, so the fact that she'll sit there is a start...

gosh everytime i come on here, i say 'sorry i havnt been on in so long' it is soooo difficult getting spare time to come on and post at the moment...
update on us:
Kyra hasnt been a very happy chook lately, her reflux has really been playing up! it sux big time! also, was at the hospital on sunday night as kyra was so unsettled and in so much pain, sweating, had a temp and gosh knows what else, we waited an hour to get seen by the triage nurse and then another 3 hours and gave up... we just went home! ky was still will really unsettled and had a really bad night... we found out she has a cold and thats why she was like that.
but this ill tell you something right... at the hospital, the triage nurse didnt even get kys obs properly, she ws getting her oxygen levels and the machine said 76% and she gave up, she was getting her heartrate and it was as 145bpm, and gave up, she was getting her temp and it said 35.1 and she gave up... then to top it off, she was trying to settle ky and nearly DROPPED her. shes so f*****g lucky i have quick reflexs! I was sooooo angry!!!
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
also, when she weighed kyra, she was the same weight as she was 2weeks and 3days ago, she wasnt even alarmed or worried the slightest that ky hadnt put on any weight... god she should be putting on at least a little bit... but she was exactly the same weight...
ahhhh dont you love the incompetance and ignorance of some people!
Ive written a formal complaint to the hospital, do you think thats reasonable? or did i blow it out of proportion?
other than that, ky is starting to sleep through the night... at least 7hours so thats a plus! she usually goes to sleep about 11-12pm and wakes up between 6-8am so its pretty good!
bel- yes that was me at the post office. haha, i didnt think you realised who i was. ky still is pretty small! shes only 4.4kg at 8weeks old. would love to catch up for a coffee sometime! just let me know when, not sure if you still have my number, but msg me, if you dont have it, msg me on here!
kayla- hugs to you :hugs: everything will be alright, try to think of the positives, i know that may seem impossible, but its worth a try! we are all here to support you and your little man!
IM- your little girl is adorable! i could just eat her! haha jks!
well thats all for me, i better be off for some sleep seeing as though its nearly 3am!
hope everyone is well!
xxx
Lauren i said to DH i thought it was you... will msg you as i dont have your number for some reason i had it..
kayla thats not good about Jaylen but at least they can fix him.. as for the appointment im paying almost every week at the moment and the health fund doesnt cover it at all.. whihc is annoying why have a health fund if your still out of pocket... you will have to buy him a big toy.. keep the receipts too so when the DNA test comes back hit him up for it...
PJ - good luck with the potty!! as soon as sienna can walk she is getting TT....
Just bought sienna the biggest size nappies.. that cant be right!!!! she is 14mths.. and 11 kg ..
Isaac's Mummy - I cant sell things i sold Sienna's 9 mth old jogger for $50 only because it was hers...
Dh is in canberra maybe only once a month now that the building was officially opened i think a month or 2 ago... he was excited it was on the news (a male thing i guess) he flew down today but im sure he wouldnt mind a day trip on a weekend some time.. he can show sienna all of his jobs she will listen haha
Well we are waiting for the test results for jarvis to come back.. the story of our lives.. he has been screaming for the last 2 days lets hope today is better.. im starting to wonder why i have 2 kids that have both been in emergency and the childrens ward by 2 mths old?????
Was it my pregnancy ??? is it just bad luck???
Miranda i can organise a naming day i like organising things!!!!
Jarvis is all set to go for his christening... hoping he is ok before it...

Morning everyone.
PJ, Kayla, meegzz, emsmum- what day next week suits u all? morning or afternoon? and do u want to meet at dandenong plaza or somewhere else in Dandenong?
Kayla- sorry to hear about jaylen having to have a operation, at least he'll be too young to remember it :hugs:. my son might remember his when he has to have his operation in a couple of months as he is now 22 months old.
PJ- good luck with the TT, ill be starting dylan soon after he's 2 in september. not looking forward to it!
Bel- my son is 11kgs too but he's 22 months.
IM- love the pics, ur girl is so cute!
Have a good day everyone!!
Just bought sienna the biggest size nappies.. that cant be right!!!! she is 14mths.. and 11 kg ..
Don't stress, the growing will stop, especially once she gets mroe active with walking and running! C was about the same, and now at nearly 2, she's about 13kg
Forgot to add Mel yes its a medela.. which part is cracked??
Sienna is in size 1 for pants but up to 2-3 in shirts she has my husbands ribs that part of her will never even out she is solid.... Jarvis is in 00 and is 6.5-7 kg and he is 10 weeks today... As for walking sienna can walk just chooses not too :hair:
okay, a day late IM, but still, here they are
Strong Boy (http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2484587470098657779RNHFfb)

Facepaint (http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2840303730098657779EkdELn) (well half it...we had tears, so all the cheek parts got washed off
Toilet Hunger (http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2251577540098657779IwJRQb) - one for you PJ - this is as far as we have got...she managed to eat the whole apple while sitting there (as well as half a glass of water) but still no results yet

Everyone laughs at me because I claim to have a big ribcage, but i seriously do!! It's the reason I usually give dresses a miss, because they do everything bar do up around my ribcage! :o
And I wouldn't worry about the choosing not to walk - soon you'll wonder where your sort of contained little girl went! C didn't walk independently till 16 months, despite being able to pull up and move along furniture at about 10 months. The longer she takes, the more confident she will become which hopefully means a lot less spills (C has never fallen while walking, and progressed from first steps to running in a remarkably short time) - it will happen when she's ready

Forgot to add Mel yes its a medela.. which part is cracked??
At the base of the cup part the little tunnel where the milk runs down. It still works really well, I've put that thing in the steriliser so many times and its the only thing that has survived.
I forgot to mention I bought a Tomme Tippee electric steamer from Aldis a while back. Its great because it won't work unless there is water in it, no more melted breast pumps and bottles!
Toilet Hunger (http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2251577540098657779IwJRQb) - one for you PJ - this is as far as we have got...she managed to eat the whole apple while sitting there (as well as half a glass of water) but still no results yet
Thats a lot further than what Jasmine was at that age :yelclap: Everyone says don't push it, but I can't even get her to sit on the potty. She looks way too big for it, I'll try and take a photo of her sitting on it later...I'm going to start putting Aurora on the potty at around 8 months, I figure it can't hurt trying at that stage anyway.
It was funny at the party on the weekend there was another 3yo girl there, as well as the 3yo birtday boy. Jasmine towers over both of them, she looks more like a four year old. We've had to start buying nappy pants from the factory since none of the ones on the shelves fit her now. I don't think it would be so bad that she's not TT yet if it wasn't for her size, it just feels unnatural changing nappies on a kid that big.
Hey All
PJ - I soo feel the same about Changing Joshy (he is like way too big to change nappies now!), right now he is refusing to wear nappies, wants to wear jocks and we have just changed his pants twice in the last 30 minutes for doing a wee, he still just wants to be changed and put more jocks on, yet he won't sit on the toilet when we tell him, so frustrating!
Kayla - I'll cry with you about our little men, :( I just got a referral in the mail to the childrens hospital specialist ward, it's in 2 weeks, i'm glad we are being seen soon, but i nearly cried when i opened it thinking of having to take my little boy there and have his little penis operated on, it's so upsetting! At least we will find out more about it anyways.
Amanda and IM - Loved the piccies, they are both growing up so big now!
BBL - Bubs feeding again

aww cute pics IM and amanda! I will have to post some of T soon too!
miranda: wow that's great Liam rolled over that far! Flu sucks :( T and i had a cold two weeks ago, finally all over it now!
T doesn't like tummy time for long :( he starts to get pretty sooky... is there anything i could do to help him enjoy it more, or help build up his arm muscles? i think his head control is getting good because i always have him up on my shoulder... but not sure about the arms?!
PJ: ohhh i can't wait to toilet train... ughhh i like your idea of trying to get them on the potty early... i might try that with T too!
Bel: when will you finally find out what's wrong with Jarvis? it must be soooo frustrating for you... i hope they can find it out and fix it quick smart
Kayla: OOH honey! you poor thing.., poor little jaylen too! You guys sound like such troopers though, i'm sure you'll come out of it even stronger. :hugs:
Lauren: that's great Kyra is sleeping really well! Try not to stress about the weight gain... we also had bad weight gain with T... only now he's just starting to put a bit more on! The hospital sounds terrible! I think that's great you have complained! They can't get away with things like that!
Well today i made a quiche which was yumbo, and some Lactation Cookies!!! Not that i really needed the cookies, but i just wanted to give it a try! haha They are NICE! i put in white chocolate instead of regular... soooo rich and sweet they are! I've fully fed T and just finished feeding the cat and dog and now i have to make myself dinner! The quiche is for DP to take to work tomorrow! Lately seems like all i do is make food and feed people or animals!
HBP - just keep giving him tummy time in short bursts - his attention span will be minimal at the moment. To start with, make sure you get down on the floor with him so he has some incentive to look up at his loving mummys face (or his Daddy ;)) M also likes to look up at the TV (I do tummy time while C has Hi 5 on, just so she's entertained rather than noticing me focus on him)
V - we haven't got to the undies part yet - I'm not even convinced she knows why she's sitting there  - will wait till the weather warms up, because I couldn't deal with all the wetness yet (mind you she's not yet 2, so there's no hurry)

Isaacs mummy/Bec- Your little girl is gorgeous
Thanks :D I think so too, but I'm a little impartial in that respect!! How are you coping with your two little ones? Don't see much of you around these days - hope all is going well.
Yes - she's a big fan of trying to eat anything that comes near her mouth!! The vest is still waaaay too big for her, but I wanted to dress her up in it to take photos for her aunty and uncle. It only lasted on her for about 10 minutes because it was slobbered all over!!
Oh Kayla - huge hugs to you sweetie. THis must be pretty stressful for you. On the up side - it's great that this has been discovered so early, and will be operated on and Jay all better before he even knows what's going on. Try and think positively sweetie - he's going to be in the best possible hands. Hope you didn't burn your dinner!
okay, a day late IM, but still, here they are
Strong Boy (http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2484587470098657779RNHFfb)
First Sleep in Cot (http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2185255470098657779wseRJV)
Oh Amanda - M is sooo big now!! My goodness. What a little cutie. And C is soooooo big too. I can't believe she's nearly 2. She's absolutuely gorgeous. Love the potty shot too!! We kinda/sorta started introducing I to the toilet about 4 months ago - but it's sooo cold now that we've given up on the toilet training until it's warmer!
Oh Vee - huge hugs to you too. How great that Cam's able to be seen so quickly though. I hope that you can find out some more info about what's going to happen. Keep us updated, won't you?
HBP - Is never liked tummy time either. I wasn't particularly persistent with it, naughty mummy that I am. I just try and remember to put C on her tummy after I've changed her - even if it's only for a minute. Plus one of the midwives who came to see me for home visits said tummy time on mummy/daddy's tummy counts too - and C gets LOTS of that kind of tummy time!! She's really good at holding her head up though - which is why I'm not too worried if she doesn't get too much time on the floor. But Amanda's right - get down there with T, or a toy with a mirror/lights/sounds to get T to look at you - if you're really worried. He'll get there though. And can't wait to see some piccies of him. And those cookies are yummo, aren't they? Making them with white chocolate sounds delicious - will have to give them a go.
Well, I think I've caught the darn cold that DH has. I have a sore throat and my nose is starting to run. I just hope that the little ones don't get it - nothing worse than having sick little ones.
Should go and get some sleep. I want to venture out to Spotlight tomorrow - and that's a drive to a whole other state
Jarvis's last test is Nov 4th we should know after that if the infection had a long term effect.... the infection is now clear and we are working on the reflux issue again.. but as i said he now smiles he never did before he was in hospital.. we he could but he was always too sad...
The baby sitter should be here in about 15 mins so i can get stuck into the house before the christening..
Mel i dont steralise J's bottles any more just put them in the dishwasher i only did the the first few weeks as sienna nicely shares her dummies with him so i didnt see the point
As for tummy time J likes sleeping on his tummy.. can i send out a warning sienna was never put on her tummy and when i had to, to encourage her to crawl she hated it.... hence she still isnt walking..crawled late walks late!!!

Sienna's still only just turned one though Bel, so I wouldn't say she's late to walk by any means. Isaac didn't start to crawl until he was about 10 and a half months old - so later than some babies, but everyone is different. He took his time - and once he started crawling - never fell or took a tumble. Same with his walking. He was standing up and cruising at about 10 months, but didn't walk unassisted by himself until he was about 14 and a half months - and like Amanda's C, has always been very confident, and wasn't shaky or wobbly or fell over often.
Trust me - once Sienna's up and about by herself you'll be wishing she wasn't   They're twice as much work when they're walking around :D
Tummy time is good, and we should encourage it - but I think it's perfectly normal for babies not to like it for long periods of time.
So glad that J's infection has cleared and that he's smiling :yelclap: That's great news. Hope the test results in November give him the all clear.
Make sure you post pics of J's christening too - sounds like it's going to be a great day :goodvibes:

Hi Ladies,
It has been a bit quiet on here.
After much heartache I have decided to stop breastfeeding. Liam is refusing the breast. He is sucking for a few minutes then stopping and it is a big fight to get him to feed even though he is obviously hungry, taking a couple of hours and lots of stress. I have a fast let down and it chocks him. I have tried all the recommended things (express first, feed lying down etc) and he still gets reflux and chocked up. When we have bottled fed him (because I’ve drank) he has been fine.
I am going to try and express then feed in a bottle, but if that is too difficult I will go with formula. For all the formula feeding mums how did you decide which formular to use? There so many available I don’t know which one to get. So far I have been using the s26 pre made up ones in the poppas, but will now use the powder as cheaper.
HBP: That’s a great tummy time shot. Liam has strated screaming when I put him on his tummy as he gets frustrated he can’t go anywhere after he tries. He has lernt to roll onto his back now.
Bel: Great news that you are getting smiles now. Sorry you didn’t for a while. That’s sad.

Just bottle fed Liam some expressed breast milk and still had the reflax. Didn't have it with formular this afternoon.

Awww, i am the same Josh has only been at daycare one day but it breaks my heart to think that some kid might be mean to him or not want to play with him.
Mel, I completely understand about the bullying.
The one that worries me at the moment is with his clothes. He won't wear something new for fear that the kids will 'laugh at him'.
I can't stop thinking about what happened at Maccas the other day and I've decided to mention it to E's kinder teacher ... not for her to do or say anything to the child, but just to keep an eye on the girls because it IS a form of bullying and I hate the idea of someone excluding, or being mean to my daughter. Sometimes E comes home and says 'no-one wanted to play with me mummy' (:crying:) and I fear that more dominant kids might be telling the 'followers' not to play with E.
RM, that's so sad about R getting picked on for wearing particular clothes ..... just think, this is just the beginning  imagine what school's going to be like!
well we just got back from a weigh in and Tigerbums put on 300grams in one week! YAY! so i'm happy with that, and that is all boobyfed!
So at least those all night feeding sessions have paid off!
You go girlfriend :D well done little T man!
Loved the photo, what a cutie! Also, great idea about the white chocolate in the lactation cookies, I might make some this weekend. You mentioned how foods aren't really meant to affect babies, but the milk chocolate is a definate no no for us. I've tried some again and the next day L makes awful noises and appears to be in pain, so I'll just go without - no biggie!
I was using a cherub too (until I melted it in the microwave). I didn't like it, I found it extremely hard to get the milk out and it caused me pain too. I'd suggest trying a different pump, I went back to my old trusy Medela much more comfortable.
Yeah I think I'll have to ... serves me right for buying a cheapie on ebay I guess! How did Aurora go with her needles?
So here's a question for the May mummies - does anyone have a babe with strawberry blonde / reddish hair? Or has had a baby with strawberry blonde / reddish hair?
L has fair hair with a tinge of red. DH has redheads in his family but I think L will end up blonde because DH was as a child, and so was I. E was very dark when she was born and although her hair lightened up when she was about 2, it's still dark brown. How are you feeling IM? Did you end up with hubby's cold?
Kayla, I was sad to read about what's going on with Jaylen. I'm so sorry to hear that he needs to have an operation. :hugs: to both of you!
Cassie, I can't do a meet for the next couple of weeks. MIL arrives from NZ next week and will be with us for 2 weeks so I'll be entertaining her, well actually she'll be running around with us to E's activities. But towards the end of the month I should be right, and early afternoons suit me better (can't do mornings or Wed arvo's) but arrange for the majority and if I can make it I definately will.
miranda, sorry to hear that you've stopped breast feeding but don't feel bad, you've done your best and you've given him 3 months of breast milk which is awesome
meegzz, what a clever little boy Hunter is, hope he continues to sleep through the night!
I'm loving everyone's pics, it's hard to believe that it wasn't so long ago that we were all sitting here dreaming of what our babies would be like etc., and now they're nearly, well some of them are already, 3 months old!
L has been fantastic lately, he's sleeping from 10pm until 2.30am, then 3.30am until 7am most nights although just when I think we're getting into some sort of routine he changes, tonight he was in bed at 8.15pm and last night was 9.15pm so who knows. He is so much happier now and constantly smiling (see my new avatar pic :D), he's so much easier to look after and his cries are easier to understand. E is still being an awesome big sister and life is good!
There's heaps more I could ramble on about but I won't, instead I'll go and have a cuppa tea and then get some sleep while I can.
Hi to everyone I've missed. I haven't been on for ages, been busy, but think of you all and will be back again soon!
Hi Lovely May mummies.
Will try and update again tomorrow with personals, but today has just been a nightmare with Josh. Long story short, he smacked a kid and made their mouth bleed (Milo was with him while i was with Cam outside big w), then i went to the chemist and Josh ran away, i couldn't find him for about 5 minutes, heard him call out to me, and then i got him and cried my eyes out, i was about to call the police i couldn't see him anywhere. Then we went to the play thing outside and he then bit some other kid, so anyways, he is now no longer allowed to play anywhere without me supervising him, as when Milo 'watches' him i don't think there is much watching he just plays with his mobile or just sits down and doesn't pay any attention. Plus whe he does see anything by the time he tells me he has forgotten the gist of what happened, so pretty much Josh gets away with it. Anyways, his behaviour is really bad and unacceptable, he doesn't ever listen to DH, and it's just so hard, so i'm so glad he is going to daycare tomorrow, he's really trying our patience. Then tonight he was mucking around in the bath and had water everywhere, so we pulled the plug and said no more bath, and he cracked a total tanty, i swear the neighbours must think we are beating him or something from the screams, anyways some tough love is in order for him and yeah trying to work out the issues. I feel sorry for DH though DS's behaviour is really terrible towards him, Milo can never do anything right by Josh and he cracks it at everything Milo says, it sucks. Sorry for the really long vent gals, but i just had to get that out. Grrr, hoping tomorrow is a better day.
Night all!
Can't offer any advice V ...so just some general :hugs: and :sunshine: going your way!
[B][IL has been fantastic lately, he's sleeping from 10pm until 2.30am, then 3.30am until 7am most nights although just when I think we're getting into some sort of routine he changes, tonight he was in bed at 8.15pm and last night was 9.15pm so who knows.
Does he still sleep through till the same time? If so, a massive bonus :yelclap: For the last few nights, M has been asleep before 7.30 (which was fantastic because last night I went out without him :smiliedance: - only to my school's performing arts night, but still - I didn't have to cradle him for 3 hrs and didn't have to get up and leave during all the percussion stuff.)
He then sleeps till sometime after 1...and sometimes as late as 3.30 so it's starting to look more promising...not expecting consistent sleep throughs till after solids are introduced (omg... the earlier bubs are half way to it!) ...but then teething will come *groan*...in fact i don't think we'll even get to wait that long - there's some pronounced bumps in his jaw and the dribbling has started
V sorry to hear abut your troubles im yet to go through that age.... let me know what happens..
Miranda... Is Liam ok with formula?? S26 can make them constipated but yet if it doesnt can make them sleep longer as it fills them up.. Jarvis is on S26 LF from his paed.. Sienna was on LF then S26 Gold..
Jarvis started on NAN HA Gold.. as advise from the hospital they said it was the closest to breast feeding.. Sienna's paed last year said the same... i have 3 tins still if you want one to try him on...
Loving th photos keep them coming.. i will try and find some

Jaylen is back to being a little unsettled in the days but his now sleeping 12 hours straight of a night which im abit worried about as it seems to long to go without a feed.
I also have a feeling Jay might be teething, its hard to tell but he has bright red cheeks, always is putting his hand in his mouth chew chew chew and has moments where he screams - sounds to me like his in pain.
Back soon for personals.

Great photo HBP!! T has changed soo much in the last few weeks!!
Vee- oh honey :hugs: Not much advice here either, but some massive :hugs:. I hope today is a better day for you, Milo and Josh. It sounds like he's definitely testing the boundaries at the moment - they can be cheeky little ones.
Miranda - don't feel bad about stopping breastfeeding. Mel's right - 3 months is awesome, and you've given Liam a great start. No advice on formula though, I'm afraid - but I hope that it helps to settle his reflux down.
Mel - you have a little red head too, hey? I don't mind if C stays a red head, just curious as to whether it will stick around or not. Her daddy is becoming concerned she's going to be a fiesty little one!!! How great that Linc is getting into more of a routine for you. You definitely sound so much happier than just a few weeks ago, which is awesome. Isaac managed to catch DH's cold, so now I'm dealing with the man flu and the boy flu  I have a bit of a sore throat, but I'm not thinking about it and hoping that will stop me from getting sicker  Sounds like you're going to busy with your MIL visiting. I hope you have a lovely time with her and she doesn't drive you too crazy!
Amanda - you got to go out?!! Very jealous! I have a hen's night I want to go to next weekend, but not sure how DH will handle the two little ones on his own with things like bath time, putting them to bed, etc. And M has lumps and is dribbling already  I'm still dealing with Isaac getting teeth - I don't want to think about C going through it already! LOL!
Meegzz - :crying: You're not coming to Canberra??? I was getting so excited about getting to meet a fellow May (well June in our case!) mummy!! Definitely let me know when you make it out this way - I'd love to catch up. Isaac can run around with Emma's boys and Char and Hunter can grab each other and smile!!
Well we were going to go to a play centre today to meet up with some other mums (well Isaac was going to play, and I was going to meet with the mums!! Need some adult interaction!), but I'm doing the responsible mum thing and staying at home because Isaac is still sneezing and has a runny nose. I don't want to make him worse, and I'd feel soooo bad if anyone else's little ones got sick. It's cold and miserable today too, so I think we'll be curling up on the lounge, eating lots of iceblocks, because that's all Isaac wants as they don't hurt his teeth, and watching lots of Hi-5!! Though, Stevie drives me absolutely bonkers, so maybe we'll throw in some Wiggles to save my sanity! LOL!
Got to run, can hear Isaac in the pantry, which is never a good thing!

Aaawww Kayla - Jaylen is soooo BIG now. Well, still little, but so much bigger! All of our babies are growing up much too quickly :crying:
Glad to hear all of you are doing well with your bubs...
I'm worried .. my DS has started this awful high pitched screaming...:hissy::hissy:
he is fully BF... ended up taking him to the hospital yesterday.. they told me to feed him some milk thickener after a feed... I hope this helps..
He screams for over an hour at times.. it breaks me on the inside...:(:hair:
I sent him to mums last night just so I could have a break...
I just feel so helpless..
He looks at me when he is screaming and arching his back as if to say "Mummy, why aren't you doing anything to make this better"
I really hope this gets better soon.. I'm worried that the pain will have a long term affect on him....
Xanthia
oh xanthia.. some :hugs: your way - it's definitely heartbreaking! We get the high pitched scream when he's either really tired or has some really deep down wind - it's getting much less frequent though. I honestly believe that there will be little effect on him, despite the mournful look on his eyes and face that makes you feel helpless!...I know that I struggled with Charlotte (and bonding) and often felt really bad for her, but there's absolutely no way you'd tell that now - she's the most outgoing, happy, cuddly but independent little girl
Kayla - I can't see your photos - I'm obviously the only person in the world not on Facebook (even my Mum is )
Amanda - you got to go out?!! LOL!
DH didn't have to do much  both kids were fed and bathed. Charlotte was in bed at 6.45 (didn't sleep at daycare yesterday) and aparently M conked about before I left the driveway (went to visit my friend and her newborn yesterday, so he only got smattering of sleeps)....why can't it be that simple on nights I'm home :laughing:
Oh and thank goodness - Charlotte was a fast and furious teether which was absolutely hellish at times (and why I'm generally so *groan* about it on here because we'd just settle into routine or whateve and more teeth would arrive) and she cut her last 2 month molar over a month ago, so we're all finished there! It's certainly not fun, but i loved being able to excuse poor behaviour on teething - made me feel better as a mum to blame it on teeth rather than just her
Oh and have gone and updated all of the May babies/Mummies in the May arrivals thread (care of V8's info in the old area) - here (http://www.bubhub.com.au/community/forums/showthread.php?t=180281)...there were 33 of us, but I do know we've had a few extras come in to say hello since then...if you want to add info (either cause you're not there/one of our new mommies, or only have part of the info in), pm me or add it to the end of the thread
Vee- oh honey :hugs: Not much advice here either, but some massive :hugs:. I hope today is a better day for you, Milo and Josh. It sounds like he's definitely testing the boundaries at the moment - they can be cheeky little ones.
Yep, testing the boundaries big time, i've also heard things that 3 year olds are also much worse than 2 year olds, so it could be a phase too. But yeah, just trying to deal with it. Hope you guys get better soon, it's awful feeling sick we have been a little sick for about a month now, not hugely sick but still not well either, wish it would go away already! lol
Kayla - Jaylen is so cute, loved the pics, thanks for sharing!
Amanda - Thanks aswell. Is the meet still going ahead? It would be the week after next, or next week?
Xanthia - Sorry to hear your bubs is screaming and in pain, not sure what's going on there.
Bel - Thanks too, oh gosh it's such a lovely age! Terrible 2's was nothing!
Have pm'd all the Brissie mums with an executive decision - hope it suits still

For all the formula feeding mums how did you decide which formular to use? There so many available I don’t know which one to get. So far I have been using the s26 pre made up ones in the poppas, but will now use the powder as cheaper.
When I was having trouble with Jasmine I went to the chemist and asked them advice. We ended using Nutricia Karicare AR (thickened formula). S26 make tubes of thickener that you can add to any formula. I'm not sure if you can add it to BM, but if you can it may be worth a try. Thickened formula solved the issue for us. I hope things get better for you soon.
I'm wondering if Rory is teething too Kayla, she drools all the time. And something feels different when breast feeding now. I'm sure I can see a little bit of tooth coming through on her bottom gum.
Will have to come back, can't type with baby in my arms...we all need one of those speech to text programs

miranda, yes L tends to sleep through until about 2am no matter what time he goes to bed. Last night he went down just ater 8pm and slept until 2.15am, then slept from 3.30am until 7am so he's doing well. He has also been dribbling alot lately and I have been wondering if he is about to start teething. I checked out that link you posted with the updated details of all the May mummies. There are 2 changes I need fixed on mine; L was born on the 22nd, not the 23rd and he is a sibling of Emily (4.5yrs), not Charlotte ;) Thanks lovey!
Vee, sorry to hear that you're having dramas with Josh. Is he acting out because you can't spend as much time with him anymore? They do tend to act out alot more when they start daycare so that could be part of it. Even with Em, you can definately tell when she's been at kinder because she has a bit of an attitude. I found E to be much harder to deal with at 3 than 2. I don't really have any advice other than something like a reward chart - if he's good he gets stickers & when his chart is completed he gets a small gift (something that he'd like) - might give him an incentive to be good so he gets a new toy, or whatever.
IM, glad to hear that you haven't contracted hubby's cold. There is so much going around atm. E had tonsilitis last week, then my girlfriend rang me yesterday and said she has tonsilitis and possibly glandular fever  bit concerned as we saw her on Wed but I guess we'd be having symptoms by now if we caught anything off her.
xanthia, sorry to hear that you're having troubles feeding. Don't really have any advice, but it's awful to see them in so much pain and to feel so helpless. I hope you get it resolved quickly.
Kayla, loved the photos of Jaylen, he's such a cutie and has gorgeous blue eyes!
We are having a nice relaxing home day today. L is asleep and E is running around being a horse  (she just had a baby horse apparently, lol). I haven't attempted leaving DH at home with both of the kids for more than 30 mins, but next weekend I'll be gone for a few hours when I get my hair done so that will be interesting. E's kinder is having an 'art exhibition' of all the kids paintings etc and we can 'bid' on our own kids paintings (a way of raising money/fundraising) but we won't be able to go because kids aren't allowed to go and we don't have anyone in the area to look after them. Bit of a shame, but I can still 'buy' E's painting. I can't believe the amount of fundraising. There are chockies to sell, shopping tours, books, plates, food, puzzles etc to buy, raffles etc and it puts so much pressure on parents because you feel guilty if you can't buy everything they want you to buy, but at the end of the day you pay your fees and sometimes just can't afford to contribute to all the fundraising, especially when E does gymnastics & swimming and they all do fundraising as well. Shame money doesn't grow on trees.
There are 2 changes I need fixed on mine; L was born on the 22nd, not the 23rd and he is a sibling of Emily (4.5yrs), not Charlotte ;) Thanks lovey!
:o oops so sorry... I definitely did change it to Em (you were and obvious one to know siblings ) but i got timed out and when I refreshed I lost all the changes - grrr figured I'd do it again (because I'd been meaning too for weeks) but obviously wasn't as careful 2nd time round - once again sorry (but good to know somone checked - will have to go back now and make sure all the ones I added today didn't suddenly gain a daughter - though she is cute and worth having )
Kayla love the pics
As for the guys that cant stand the screaming... come to my house.. an hour is nothing :hissy:

V sorry to hear abut your troubles im yet to go through that age.... let me know what happens..
Miranda... Is Liam ok with formula?? S26 can make them constipated but yet if it doesnt can make them sleep longer as it fills them up.. Jarvis is on S26 LF from his paed.. Sienna was on LF then S26 Gold..
Jarvis started on NAN HA Gold.. as advise from the hospital they said it was the closest to breast feeding.. Sienna's paed last year said the same... i have 3 tins still if you want one to try him on...
Loving th photos keep them coming.. i will try and find some
What is LF? Thanks re the tins, but I have started him on Karicare Gold. The early child health nurse said the same about s26 making bubs constipated. I must admit though he has really bad diarrior (not sure how to spell) so it may even it up a bit. Seems to still have the reflx on Karicare but was better on s26 so may switch back again. Thanks for the offer re the NAN but I don't want to switch too much. Also I don't trust Nestle oe Heinz as I worked in the pharmaceutical industry so I personally trust a pharmaceutical co or co that specialises in it more than a food manufacturer. Thats just me being weird because of my background, even though I know they are all made to manditory standards.

Thanks for all the advice about the formula. I must admit I feel a bit less stressed now I am bottle feeding. The breat rejection was upsetting me, as he was coming off and screaming and pushing, kicking and biting me.
Xanthia: Sounds like what Liam was doing. He does the same thing then chucks up, so I think it is reflux. I tried thickening feeds, and it seems to work but is a pain (see below)
PJ: Thanks for the suggestion on thickener. It does seem to work, except with breast feeding you have to make it into a paste and give it to them with a spoon or syringe before or after the feed. It is a pain and Liam screamed when I tried to do it, so same amount of work dealing with his screaming from reflux. I tried expressing and adding it to a bottle of EBM but it doesn't come out quick enough and gets stuck in the bottle. Also the same when adding it to formula. Did you use a faster flowing teat? I am also wondering if the pre thickened formula is better, although my paed said better to buy the thickener seperatly and thicken youraelf as the pre thickened one is too thick. I have tried adding less thickener than what is suggested but still have the problem of it getting stuck in the teat. Any advice on how to thicken would be much appreciated.

I think I worked out what LF is. Lactose free? I had Liam tested for lactose intollerance, he is not lactose intollerant.
Miranda LF is also used when baby has a lot of wind as the sugars break down easier..
Just me quickly.. Today is Jarvis's christening day.. and i am up before him ... My BIL took the lounges out of the family room so i attempted to put J into his bed.. nope that didnt work so he came into my bed at 11pm he stired a few times i had a bottle ready at 4am still no Jarvis awake.. hmmm re heated the bottle and he finally asked for it at 4.30 Dh gave it to him as i was already blowing up balloons and one popped glad i was in the formal dining otherwise i would have woken the house up.. will post pics later today.. i havent picked clothes out yet for any one and i havent tried my aunty's gown on J yet but im sure it will fit..
Have to leave in an hour to pick my brother up :hissy:if i dont he wont come.. he is 42 and doesnt drive..... have to drop Scooby off to my SIL's.. bye!

oops so sorry... I definitely did change it to Em
No worries at all, thanks for changing it :D
Emsmum - Em is such a doll, is she still being ok with Linc?
Em is awesome with Linc  she does get jealous from time to time, and I often have to say 'get off your brother' because she just wants to hug him all day, but she is very helpful and loves him to death - the first person she goes to in the mornings when she wakes up is Linc, daddy and I come 2nd & 3rd these days . Sometimes she just comes up and hugs me really hard and says 'we dont get to spend much time together just to cuddle these days mummy', poor love! I just try really hard to make sure she never feels excluded or that I'm favouring him over her! Grandma arrives on Friday from NZ so hopefully she can spend some quality one on one time with her.
i got Morgans hand/feet plaster thingy back a few weeks ago:
Me and chris have finally set a date to be married,
The hand/feet plaster photos look great. I love the dress you've picked for your wedding (congrats, btw). Everything looks great, but I'd take the invite off the internet, or white out the date & name of venue, you never know whose roaming around the internet. Can't wait to hear more details about your big day over the coming months.
I must admit I feel a bit less stressed now I am bottle feeding.
That's good to hear! Liam was probably picking up on your stress too so hopefully this will be the start of good things and you will both be happier.
Today is Jarvis's christening day.!
I hope Jarvis' christening went well today Bel. Can't wait to hear all about it.
We have had a quiet weekend at home ... but busy. I can't believe how quickly the days go, what with looking after both kids, washing, baking, cooking, cleaning etc. The end of the day comes, I haven't really done ALOT, and I'm exhausted. L slept from 8.15pm until 3.45am this morning, so that was awesome. I think the only reason he woke up was because he was cold as he had manoeuvered himself out of his wrap, then kicked his sheet & blanket off - might be time for a sleeping bag me thinks!! He is such a happy contented baby and we get so many smiles out of him these days. E was very serious until about 4 months and we didn't initially get many smiles out of her at all (the first smiling photo I have of E is at 5 months of age), L is the total opposite - mr smiley pants :p
RM, how are you? Haven't heard from you for awhile, those gorgeous kids of yours keeping you busy??
Vee, hope you've had a nice relaxing weekend and are feeling less tired.
I hope everyone else is having a nice weekend, soon I'll start preparing for our busy week ahead which includes L's 8 week (bit late) injections, our usual activities and grandma's arrival. Off to make porcupines for dinner.
Hooroo!
Hi Girls!
Just a quick hello.
We're doing pretty well, but Bella still doesn't like the idea of sleeping during the day (not unless you count 30min cat naps!). We're lucky she sleeps well at night.
Yesterday we entertained for the first time since she was born - a total of 9 adults and 6 kids, including 2 babies. We had a BBQ (I baked my famous flourless chocolate hazelnut cake for dessert) and the guys watched the rugby. They were all very sad the Wallabies lost!
It took us all day to get organised (without getting stressed about anything!) and it was after 11pm by the time we got into bed. And Bella probably slept for a total of an hour ALL day. She definitely knew something out of the ordinary was happening! She doesn't want to miss out on a thing
Tomorrow we start our mums and bubs pilates class and on thursday we're off to see mama mia at the movies with the girls from my mother's group.
Will try and get on early this week to catch up on the posts - until then, ciao! Hope you are all well!

Hi Xanthia,
Is the gel something you give him before a feed, is he breast or bottle fed? Just curious, my little one is breast fed & has mild reflux. She is continuing to gain weight & is healthy so it's not a huge problem but after most feeds she cries until she has done a big burp and then vomited up some of her feed. She also vomits throughout the day regardless of when her last feed was. We have all learnt not to pick her up unless we have a towel over our shoulder and she goes through countless bibs. Often when she vomits her eyes water and she wimpers, then a minute later she's happy & smiley again.
I have cut out chocolate & garlic which has helped - I know some people say your diet doesn't affect your milk but when I have either of these 2 foods then she screams in pain and doesn't sleep. On Saturday I ate chocolate and she was terrrible, screamed in pain and very poor sleep, it was the worst night we've had in weeks. This was after a week of sleeping for 6 or 7 hours, feeding and going back to sleep for another 3 hours.
She was having lots of trouble with wind but we have been doing baby massage for colicky babies and it has made a HUGE difference to her. She is much happier and has no trouble passing the wind now, she is also pooing much more regularly, every 2nd day instead of every 4 or 5 days.
Anyway just wondering if the milk thickner gel is something we should try. My CHN said that milk thickner might be of help but she said it came as a powder and we'd have to mix it up and give it to her before each feed, which I thought sounded a bit fiddly so I haven't tried it, but if there is a gel alternative it might be easier to give to her & worth a try.
Anyone else used the gel - what brand, good or bad results?
Thanks!

well i feel like a goose today! I set out early this morning making my way to Amandas place for our brissy gals meet, only to realise while driving there that it's next week! doh! what a doofus!!
Tyler and i ended up going to Chermside instead and i bought myself some jeans! YAY!
I think the sleep deprivation is getting to my brain... i can barely talk properly these days!
T's been really hard during the night time still... he's just not doing the long sleeps anymore at all!! And because it's been cold i've just let him stay in our bed... plus i have fallen asleep while doing the night feeds! oohwell!
Is anyone else having trouble at night? I even do a cool routine before proper bed time, but he doesn't seem to get it :(
I've got the monster in law coming end of this week! i think i'm going to book in for a facial and wax while she is here! just to have some 'me' time! i can't wait!
Other than that, he's pretty cool, except i hear him now, not wanting to nap, so i better go get him!
Hope all is good with everyone!
xoxo
Hey guys
Can't help with the night routine HBP, we just go with the flow, co-sleep and feed, he will sleep on and off till we wake up, but i never have dramas settling him or anything. The other night i put him down awake and he stayed like that till he fell asleep, sorry wish i could help, i'm just so relieved i have a placid baby 2nd time around. :hugs:
I also think Cam has started teething he can't get his fist in his mouth fast enough and munches on it like anything, his little gums look very white and he is dribbling a lot too. I remember Joshy teething early too, but gave him bonjela which i don't think you should do for babies under 4 months, so not sure what to do till then. Poor mister. Other than that, all is going well, his specialist appt is next week so that's the only major thing happening with him. Josh has settled down and being normal again, i asked him if he loved Cameron just before and he said no! lol But this morning when i was brushing my hair and Cam was on the bed Joshy came over and started tickling him and pulling faces to make him smile, it was so cute! So yeah, he says one thing and does another, i think he likes his baby bro. I think Cam is pretty darn awesome. :)
Anywho, he is crying again, better go and get him from DH.

hey vee
do u find u fall asleep co feeding in bed? when i do wake up i find T is still sucking, although i'm sure it's just the comfort sucking!! And then if i wake up after 2 hours asleep, me moving will wake him up then i'll have to re-feed again!
He's soo sensitive the little lovey!
I'm sure josh loves cam, he's probably just trying to be a tough guy!
Also i thought T might be teething too, because he constantly has his fingers in his mouth and is drooling too... but after i read the BabyLove book she says that it's just normal 3 month behaviour and that teething doesn't make them to anything differently!?! In anycase i bought one of those teething ring things you put in the fridge, it's a bit big, but it might amuse him for a while, or use it later on!
And another thing... does anyone elses bubs watch TV? i find if i feed in the loungeroom and have telly on, when i'm burping T he cocks his head to watch TV!!!! Ceerazzy!!
Cam will watch TV too, how funny! That's interesting what the book said about teething, who knows really, i just thought it was funny with DS i thought from 3 months he was teething and then at 5 months he had 2 bottom teeth and i didn't even notice he had them till i accidently put my finger in his mouth. Teething is a weird thing though cause they can be 'teething' for ages and have all the signs and then suddenly teeth pop out and there's no dramas. Apparantly its cause they go up and down a bit before they actually break through the gums.
And yeah, i reckon Joshy loves Cam, he was just being cheeky! He normally says he loves him and says 'cameron's a cute baby' and any baby on tv he calls it Cameron, haha!

hi everyone!
seems like everyone is doing well!
kyra had her needles today and has been an angel, she projectile vomited all over me after her first feed since having her needles, but the following feed, she was fine!
doc wasnt too happy with her weight gain, she has only put on 100g in 3 weeks. poor bubba! i think it may be her reflux. not too sure. she only has about 5x90mls bottles a day, which isnt enough for a 9week old apparently. but she just wont take any more! no matter how much i offer her she just wont take it. now i have to wake her up for a feed at night, so we have to go back to our old routine when she used to have a 3-4am feed. no more 7-8hour sleeps for me!
other than that, we are very well. ky has a bit of a cold at the moment but shes nearly over it. YAY.
Bel- glad jarvis' christening went well! pics are great! love the cake!
HBP- not sure if you have tried or want to try contolled crying... it really worked for us, kyra was only having 3hour sleeps at night now she has at least 6hours. the way i saw it was that everything is worth a try. and if she wont go to sleep now, we just let her self settle and she will be fine as long as she doesnt work herself up too much! maybe give it a try if your willing, its woth reading up or talk to your child healthcare nurse about it.
well hope all is well!
talk soon!
xxx
Lauren formula is for FF babies is
150x (weight) = amount of formula regardless of age..
jarvis is 10 weeks and probably 7kg or more hmm so age doesnt matter
so he would be 150ml x 7 = 1050ml a day/8
= 131ml every 3 hours
7-8 hours sleep im luck to get 2-4... a night!!!!
And another thing... does anyone elses bubs watch TV? i find if i feed in the loungeroom and have telly on, when i'm burping T he cocks his head to watch TV!!!! Ceerazzy!!
Jarvis is obsessed with TV/Light when he had his ultrasound done at 7 weeks he was chucking a tantrum so the guy move the screen so he could see it.. he was happy then

We've been offline for a few days. DH had his birthday on the weekend and we hosted a family lunch for about 20 people and drinks/nibblies for about 20 more adults and 16 kids in the afternoon. It was nuts. Only the trampoline suffered any damage though so considering the number of people, it was all pretty good. DH had a fantastic time and I'm so very much over cooking at the moment :p
Unfortunately yesterday I picked up gastro bug, by the afternoon my Mum had it as well, last night it hit Ry, my nephew and 3 other people who were at the party. Obviously someone brought DH an extra special birthday present  although he is yet to succomb to it. S slept beautifully last night with only 1 wakeup. Unfortunately Ry was up almost every hour throwing up....on the floor, in his bed, on the rug etc etc. Poor little darlin'. At least I managed to get all of our towels and bed linen through the wash last night  There was only one tough time when I was feeding S and could hear Ry calling me and throwing up at the same time. Thankfully, DH got up so I could hand him the bub and fix up little Ry - ah, there's a first time for everything ;)
S is doing well. She is dribbling, eating hands etc too but I think it's just a milestone thing - I remember DS doing it at this age and he didn't get his first tooth until 6 months. She's a great little baby - very adaptable and very cuddly although she has taken to 'yelling' at me instead of crying. If she wakes in the middle of the night, she babbles and then starts to yell out, if I leave her for too long in her rocker, she does the same. Keeping me in line from a very early age.
It's a lovely day outside today. Ry has managed to hold down two pieces of toast now so it's off for another bath for him then hopefully all of us can have an afternoon sleep, then if he is okay, its out to the garden.
We have rellies over from Hobart at the moment and there is a major family lunch today that we're missing out on - although I don't think the rest of the family need a second chance of catching our bug....
Hi Xanthia,
Is the gel something you give him before a feed, is he breast or bottle fed? Just curious, my little one is breast fed & has mild reflux.
My Ds is fully Breast Fed. I generally give it to him after the feed, but if he looks like he's falling asleep I'll give it to him during the feed. He doesn't always eat all of it.. and his nappy filling seems to have stopped and he is having slight discomfort with bottom burps...
My DS is also putting on good weight.. abot 300g a week... he doesn't vomit much.. just did the screaming and back arching.. and yeah otherwise he was a happy smiley baby...
I hae found citrus an issue as well as chocolate and garlic.. I eat a very plain diet these days.. but worth it to keep my Ds happy and healthy.. since I am able to BF.
She was having lots of trouble with wind but we have been doing baby massage for colicky babies and it has made a HUGE difference to her. She is much happier and has no trouble passing the wind now, she is also pooing much more regularly, every 2nd day instead of every 4 or 5 days.
My DS had big wind issues when I was eating Chocolate
Anyway just wondering if the milk thickner gel is something we should try. My CHN said that milk thickner might be of help but she said it came as a powder and we'd have to mix it up and give it to her before each feed, which I thought sounded a bit fiddly so I haven't tried it, but if there is a gel alternative it might be easier to give to her & worth a try.
The milk thickener does come in a powder.. but I don't find it too fiddly.. I gove him the gel 3 times a day.. so not at every feed. I express in the morning.. so I get the containers of milk ready in the fridge for the day.. you only need 20 - 30ml of milk (or you can use cooled boiled water). You add one scoop of the milk thickener, stir well.. and then feed to baby with spoon. Seems to work for me. As I said before.. I can't get him to eat all of it.. but it does make a big difference. He is like a new baby.
I use Karicare Milk Thickener if you need to know and was recommended it by the doctor at Westmead Kids.
Hope this helps..
Xanthia
although I don't think the rest of the family need a second chance of catching our bug....
:hugs: for the rest of your post RM, but I did have to  at this part! Hope we'll still see you Monday
just about to book M in to the doctor - he's been a bit red under the arms, benind is knees, round his ears for a week or so now, and it has just started to go weepy :barf: he's not worried by it, but I am!

the guys watched the rugby. They were all very sad the Wallabies lost!
Me too .... but hubby was thrilled, he's a kiwi and massive rugby union fan as he used to play back in the day!
Hope your pilates went well and that you enjoy Mamma Mia on Thursday. I'd love to see that. I know it's no concilation, but I think I'd rather have a baby that didn't sleep much during the day and slept all night, than a baby who slept well during the day and not so good at night.
I have cut out chocolate & garlic which has helped - I know some people say your diet doesn't affect your milk
I've cut out chocolate too because L gets really bad tummy pains when I eat it, and he doesn't think much of oj either, so I've cut that out too. I think that certain foods can definately affect our milk.
well i feel like a goose today! I set out early this morning making my way to Amandas place for our brissy gals meet, only to realise while driving there that it's next week! doh! what a doofus!!

L loves to look at the tv but I don't let him much because he gets all excited, starts kicking his legs, thrashing his arms about - goes a bit nuts sometimes. He also likes bright lights, looking out the window on sunny days, and always smiles at pictures of his sister on the wall. :D
kyra had her needles today and has been an angel
Glad she's been good after her needles. L had his this morning and so far so good, he's actually been quite sleepy so he must be sleeping the whole ordeal off. I hope that waking Kyra during the night for a feed helps to put on some weight, however you might find that she just won't be interested. Goodluck with that! We also did the controlled crying (never for more than 5 mins) and it really does work a treat. Every time L goes to bed we put him in his cot, he grizzles quietly for about 2 minutes and then is out like a light. He used to need to be rocked before his final sleep of the day, but doesn't need that anymore and he is actually really easy to put to bed.
Unfortunately yesterday I picked up gastro bug.
Eeew, gastro is just the worst. It's bad enough when the kids get it, but even worse if you're dealing with it yourself too. E has had it 3 times in her life and it's so draining on them, especially when they can't keep anything down, not even water, those hydralite icypoles are a godsend at times like this. Thankfully I've never caught it, but friends have caught it off their kids and it's awful. I hope you're all feeling better soon and that no-one else gets sick. When L had his needles this morning the nurse gave him an oral medicine that will stop him from getting gastro, so :fingerscrossed: he never gets it and that E never gets it again either (highly unlikely, but nice to dream).

heyaaa
lauren: he's great when i first put him down to sleep for the evening... usually will grizzle for 2 mins then is out, only to wake up after 2 hours then hourly afterwards! grrr
mel: I think because his cot is right next to us when we sleep that 2 minutes of grizzling seems like forever and because my DP needs his sleep, i know that feeding will keep T quiet! Just means i'm constantly feeding and wake up soo deheydrated and starving in the morning :(
When we move down the coast, i am putting his cot in his own room, which will be great. i think it might take a while for T to get used to it, but in the long run will be good, when we need to let him cry for a bit after a midnight feed so he gets himself back to sleep.
Does anyone use anything for wind for their bubs? I'm thinking of going to the chemist to look for something, just to give T at night time?
RM: ooh that's terrible about the gastro! I hope you guys are alright. must be hard that not only do you have it, you have to look after ry with it too!
Yeah i don't want T to be a TV junkie too early! I try to limit the time he looks at it... I wonder what he can see on it anyways? just a flash of lights i imagine.. i'm not sure how good his eyes are working at this stage?!

Well that's understandable ... I get up to feed L, always have with both my kids, and we leave our ducted heating on all night so it's not cold, but there were times when he wouldn't settle himself and sometimes still doesn't during the night so I pick him up, take him back to the lounge and rock him as my DH needs to sleep for work too and L is still in our room.

Moving T into his own room will be awesome, you will be able to persist with routines etc easier when he's in his own room. After MIL's visit L will be moving into his own room and I'm so looking forward to just being able to lay in bed and watch tv at night time, which we haven't done since L was born as we don't want to wake him. I've taped so much stuff (video is in the bedroom) and haven't been able to watch anything - I miss my room , it will be nice to get it back but I'll miss my little man when he moves into the next room!
For wind my doctor recommended Infacol, we never used it because we didn't end up really needing to in the end but for awhile there I used Brauer's wind drops .... not sure if they did any good, guess they helped a little!
For wind with J we use Gripe water it seems to work for him didnt with sienna..
Lauren it was good catching up... J is screaming again better run
Who was it that live in canberra having a mental blank... i will be coming down with DH a day i think he said next week......

Sorry to hear about your bout of gastro RM, did you figure out who or what the culprit was?
I found mixing it seperately to be a pain (it just wouldn't mix properly) that why we opted for the pre thickened. What we did was put a larger hole in the teats we had, and uncsrewing the bottle lid also allowed more of the formula to get through. Some bottles have a little air hole on the lid allowing the flow to be adjusted. If I remember rightly the Nuk bottles I used to have for Jasmine allowed you to adjust the flow. Maybe have a look at some Nuk bottles and teats. As for the pre thickened being too thick, we didn't find it to be too thick, but the stuff you add to the bottles definately was. All you can do is try a few until you find the right one. Give the Karicare AR a try, from experince I can tell you that it easy to make up and not too thick.
And another thing... does anyone elses bubs watch TV? i find if i feed in the loungeroom and have telly on, when i'm burping T he cocks his head to watch TV!!!! Ceerazzy!!
 Yep Aurora does that too, she even gets upset if you turn her away from the tv. She really likes her musical playgym with the flashing lights, Jasmine turned it off on her the other day and she cracked it!
As for the teething...I'm certain Rory is cutting her first tooth already. I can feel something hard on the bottom gum, and she got very upset when I tried to feel it last night. HPB there are specially shaped dummies for teething, but the size isn't really for a baby under <3months. I'm not sure what I can give her other than panadol.
DP found out last night that centrelink wont return any of the $3600 they took from his tax return. They say they have sent several letters to this address about the debt, but he's never gotten any. He's taken it to the ombudsman, but I doubt he'll get any of it back. They would only give us some if we were being evicted...then there was the issue of Centrelink not paying him for a few weeks since I have money in MY account. That money is for rent, and they expect us to use that to live off...Centrelink obviously doesn't think we have the right to have any money classed as "savings". Sorry, had to vent....I hate Centrelink.
DP finally had words with the Aus Post contractor this morning. It resulted in the contractor swearing at DP and swerving his car to try and hit him. The contractor also threatened to make sure we wouldn't get any mail delivered at all. So DP called up and made another complain to Aus Post, who most likely will sack the contractor. The guy had no right to start swearing at DP and trying to hit him with his car was just the last straw. Hopefully our parcels will now get delivered to the door!
Vee, Cassie, Kayla, MJ, IM, Mel, Bel, MM.....(and anyone else I've missed) I hope you and your bubbas are all doing well. I really don't get much of a chance to catch up on here now!
Did the Melbourne mums meet this week? If not are we all up for a meet next week? Dandenong is fine with me, but I thought I'd suggest Waverly Gardens as its a bit more quiet and close to the Monash Freeway (may be easier for Meegz to find her way there), just a suggestion I'm happy to meet anywhere :)

Woah @ Centrelink and Aus post what a bunch of d*cks hey!
Things here are all good, Joshy has Daycare tomorrow, need to try and finish an assignment, so we shall see how it all goes. Cameron is great, bought him a teething ring and some tablets for teething, he seems to be really teething right now. Wonder when our bubs will get their first teeth?

Great photos Bel - love the cake.
Thanks for the advice about thickening feeds PJ, today I went to a chemist where they have a childhood nurse. She was saying I need a cross cut or variable flow teat.
I found C's first teeth by accident...had had her up at the docs for her vaccinations and had to grab a few things from Woolies. Was trying to hold her out for a feed until i got home (figured we'd only be 10 more mins), stuch my finger in her mouth and she'd had 2 teeth cut !! We hadn't even realised...wish i could say the same about all the molars!!!
M's doc appointment was okay - he's on some fairly heavy duty cream to try and clear it all up, but just appears to be dermatitus - have to go back in a week and hope there's been some improvement - poor bugger - it's not bothering him though which is good
Now was really just coming in to check something with either EmsMum or PJ (can't remember who was being the baking queen at the time :D) one of you posted the really simple truffle recipe...I just want to check the amount of cocoa that went in it - in the recipe posted, you said 1 CUP of cocoa, which just seems like a huge amount....just want to check this is what you meant before I make them...also how long to they last (provided I can keep them away from DH )? Anything I can make prior to C's birthday bash is a bonus

Yep thats what I used, glad you took my advice. I feel special now :D:p What worked for us may not neccessarily work for you, but if it helps then I'm glad I could be of assistance.

I think it was Mel, but if it helps I use 2 table spoons cocoa, 1 pack of arrowroot biscuits, 1 cup of coconut (half a cup in the mix, the other half for rolling) and 1 tin of condensed milk.
Our hermit crab died the other day, Jasmine is a little upset about it so we're having a funeral for Blackie tomorrow. We're now setting up the tank for some tropical fish, hopefully these last longer than the hermit crabs did.

Well, DH is a huge chocolate fan so he likes them extra chocolatey therefore I sometimes don't put in a whole packet of arrowroots (leave about 5 out) and put in a whole cup of cocoa, BUT I personally think it's better with 1pkt bickies, 1/2 cup cocoa, 1/2 cup coconut, 1 can condensed milk, then extra coconut to roll the balls in. I usually make about 30-35 balls which last us a few days :o I made some on Sunday, they will be gone by tonight after DH polishes them off! For a party I make a double batch! :D

That sounds a lot like the recipe I found that makes me question the 1 cup!
And good luck with the fish - we suck at fish keeping -we always seem to have 2 that survive forever and the rest just come and go! My FIL set up a real tropical tank, and put $800 worth of fish in it and they only lasted a week  Thankfully the fish store took some of the blames (they'd come in and done the tank set up) so he had 3/4 of them replaced
oh tag Emsmum - you obviously posted while I was talking...that sounds more palatable to me - I'd imagine that much cocoa would border on bitter otherwise!
Anyway, thanks to both of you for getting back to me so quickly!

Woot for T, but bummer you didn't get the opportunity to have a sleep in too! Hope he does a good stretch for you tonight, it really is amazing what a good bit of sleep can do for the psyche. :)
Not much happening here, Joshy dropped at daycare, screamed a lot, but they haven't rung to go and get him so i'm sure he settled down. Milo is at the gym so it's just me and Cam at home and he is asleep, total bliss i tell ya! Trying to scan some documents for uni for my assignment, so i can bugger around in here while things load etc. hehe. :)
Hope everyone is going well, anyone done their tax yet? I'm waiting on something from Centrelink but may have to chase them up, i gotta do my tax, Dh's, my little bro's and big bro's taxes, so annoying, like i don't have anything better to do!

Phew - I'm back - no one else in the family is :barf: which is a huge relief!! The massive sprays of Glen 20 must have done their job after all
I'm starting to dread returning to work in October - S is just too little and too darn cute although she'll only be in care 3 short days per week, the other 2 days she'll be here at home with my MIL and as I work from home, I'll be with her a lot of the day too. I know that deep down I love my job, the interaction with my clients, the sense of achievement, the challenge and all of that but I could quite happily be a SAHM for quite a bit longer, at least until DS starts Prep next year. I'm loving having the house tidy, well cooked meals every night, freshly baked stuff for the kids and more importantly, days in the garden, the park and just cuddling these two precious bundles. DH started in his own business in the past few months though so it's not the best time for me to be off work......ahhh never mind, it will all work out - it always does in one way or another. I should stop stressing and complaining and just get on with it. Is it possible though to get less sleep than we're getting now?
S isn't too bad sleeping now. She is settling in her cot by 8pm and then going through for at least 5 hours and then another 3ish - she's normally up by 6:30 at the latest which is fine. At least DS sleeps through well - he's such a little champion. HBP, S gets a lot of wind too and will always throw up a little of her feed. I haven't got her on anything though - most often it settles itself and I'm just a little paranoid about giving her any type of medication - but that's just me.:o
Mel, it sounds like L is doing so very well now - lovely av pic!
Cassie, my DH was always cautious about me meeting people on BubHub, especially when I had a couple of meets at our place - fair call I guess as they have no idea of how well you get to know people here before you meet them. It's probably a good call though about not giving out your address on a regular basis (not that you are) - I don't do group meets here anymore I must admit.
Your all welcome to my house!!
My Ds started doing a really big belly laugh yesterday.. so funny......

Hi All,
Not much new with me and quiet on here so nothing to say. Just wanted to say hello.
Miranda
Heya girlies
PJ - Waverly gardens and Dandenong make no diffference to me i live closer to Mel in the eastern suburbs so still have no idea haha so either is good!!!
Cassie - Wow your hubby sounds crazy lol no offense meant there at all but i would hate that! But i understand that he doesnt get that we kinda get to know each other pretty well on here!
Kayla - Where are you???? I'm still waiting for you to post me something here you said on our other thread you will post to me here but i think i may have missed it lol.
Lauren - Dont worry you cant make a baby drink if she doesnt want to Hunter was only drinking 90ml every bottle not long ago - i always made up 120ml bottles just so he could keep drinking if he wanted to and now he is on 150ml bottles that he drinks (mostly) but not all the time he drinks 3 hourly during the day and sleeps through the night - last night he slept from 8pm till 8.30am that was HUGE!!! But other than that he sleeps from 11pm till 7/8am usually he is doing really good but still very whingy during the day!!
Rm - Hope your feeling better!
I have to go to get Hunters needles tomorrow at 11 so not looking forward to it but has to be done!!! Wish me luck haha
Everyone else glad your babies are all being good (not that there really is a bad baby ever lol) And glad everyone is well!!

there is no offence taken about my hubby, he drives me crazy. i think its a cultral thing. so i do things behind his back just to be normal. my mum knows about this too.
He isnt very trusting especially about other people, he doesnt even trust his own race. he has a few sri lankan friends, but doesnt like a whole lot of them. When he was a teen he saw alot of terrorism acts in his country, like seeing people burning in the middle of a heap of tyres, so i think this has caused his mistrust of other people.
Well sienna has 2 days left so i can say she is walking at 14 mths.. i dont think it will happen she can walk but wont!!
Miranda come and visit..

Xanthia, thanks for the thickening info. I was a bit reluctant to give it a try - don't like to give her anything but breast milk, am probably just a bit overly paranoid!!!
Tuesday afternoon she cried heaps and just wouldn't settle so yesterday I tried the Karicare thickener, I mixed up more than I'd need and kept it in the fridge - it seems to keep ok which is good. I gave her 10mls 1/2 way through her feed and it worked! She was so happy and content, no going stiff and crying, no vomiting. I only used it twice yesterday and figure that 3 times throughout the day is probably enough, she is doing well at night without it.
Thanks for the advice!
It's always great when you find something that works for you
Xanthia - M always seems to get the belly laughs at other people...ie whoever's behind me at a checkout! I just want to know their secret  I do get giggles, but only since I've discovered that he's got ticklish ribs.
Hello Everyone,
Amanda forgot to tell you when i ran into you how funny the pic of C on the toilet was, classic! At least she sat there for a while, that's half the battle. Hope the cream works for Mister M, i think this cold weather doesn't help it dries their skin out too. If i have another baby i don't want a winter one! lol Too cold!! But also i guess it's good cause once it is hotter he'll be old enough to take swimming etc.
Xanthia - Glad you found something that works, that's fantastic.
Rynosmum - Wow going back to work in Oct, i can't even think that far ahead at the moment, i hope it all works out for you.
Cassie - I couldn't imagine the stuff your DH would have experienced being in a country like that, would be very hard to process i imagine. We are very lucky here in Aus.
Anyone else doing a christening/naming day? I was going to in Oct, but can't be bothered, how mean am i? :o We did one with Josh, but we did our renewal of vows at the same time. This time we were going to have Joshy's 3rd birthday and Cam's naming day, but yeah the MIL is annoying me to the point where i don't want to do it at all. I don't want another reason for them to come down and stay twice in the one year is more than enough of them people!
Oh yeah, and STILL no birth certificate, getting really annoying now, geez how long does it take? Cam is 12 weeks old on Sat. Wow, and he'll be 3 months old on my birthday. :) It's also our 3rd wedding anniversary next week too. Don't think we'll be doing much, just going to Sizzler on the Sun for all you can eat breakky, yummy!
Anywho, bubs is crying now he was sitting on my lap fine for a few minutes, lucky i'm a fast typer when i have two hands free!
Ok chat to you all soon, hope you have a lovely day!

C is christened, but DH just wants to do a naming ceremony for M...and not that I'm actively religious, but I don't believe that you can only "officially" christen one of them...will need to work on him... - was going to tie it in with his 30th when his rellies will be up from Sydney, but don't imagine that the morning after would be conducive for a church service
When did you post off his birth certificate? I only got mine about 10 days ago...didn't post it straight away though...was about a 10 week turn around
And Sizzler breakfast is yummmyyyyyy!!!!
Jarvis's Baptism was last sunday as you know... at the school i want them to go to...

I can understand where your hubby is coming from Cass, not wanting people from the internet coming to your home. I wouldn't invite people to my home but would be fine about meeting them at a public place like playdays, or a park/shopping centre or something like that (hubby wouldn't have a problem with that either) but DH wouldn't like me to invite someone to our house without me having known them (in person) for awhile, and I just wouldn't do that anyway - but that's just me. There are some loonies out there, not that any of us are :p of course ;)
RM, I wouldn't be thrilled about having to return to work with S being such a young age, but as you said you work from home and will be able to spend time with her on the days that she's there with your MIL anyway so it's not TOO bad. We don't have alot of things, we have the necessities (a roof over our head, 2 cars, food in our bellies etc) and I'm very thankful that that I have been able to stay home with Emily, and hope to do the same with Lincoln, until he also starts school. Glad to hear that you're feeling better.
meegzz, I hope Hunter went ok today with his needles.
I won't be able to meet up for a couple of weeks as the MIL arrives tomorrow from NZ so I'll be busy entertaining her, and more than likely won't be free until the school holidays because life just seems to be so busy at the moment, it's crazy :hair: but please keep me informed of any meets that are arranged and I'll do my best to get to some of them!
Em had a naming day and we will do the same for L. I was christened but we decided not to take that route so the kids can decide what religion they want to be, if any, when they're older.
 I feel a bit like that at times too.
Haha, i could imagine! And yeah we have the same godparents picked out and they both have to travel so will need somewhere to stay and then if the Inlaws come down they'd wanna stay, i just don't want all those people here! lol So yeah i feel slack too that one will be 'named' and one not. But the other option is just take them to the local school and get christened there as they may go to that school. Who knows, i can't think that far ahead either! hehe
When did you post off his birth certificate? I only got mine about 10 days ago...didn't post it straight away though...was about a 10 week turn around
I posted it off before he was 4 weeks old from memory, so that was 8 weeks ago i am guessing, so yeah maybe wait another 2 weeks for it then, gosh how ridiculous, did it come in your normal mail or did you have to collect it from the post office?
And Sizzler breakfast is yummmyyyyyy!!!!
Ohhhh so jealous i reckon it will be awesome, pancakes and danishes, yummo!! Won't need lunch either i reckon! hehe
Jarvis's Baptism was last sunday as you know... at the school i want them to go to...
Yeah, you did awesome, i am thinking of maybe doing it all later when he's older anyways. And yeah when i've decided what school he'll be going to.
Came in the normal mail...rolled in a maroon tube
And HPB and V - looks like it will just be the 3 of us for Monday...which is no problem for me - I need someone to come and help polish off all of the extra food from C's birthday brunch . i can't believe she's 2 next week

I'm not a pyscho or anything guys don't worry!:D

Hi
I'll leave location up to you guys, Waverly Gardens really quite on Wednesdays the food court is mostly empty in the afternoons i thought that might be ideal if there is a handful of us with bubs. The Dandenong food court is always crowded, but has more shops. LOL its not because Waverly Gardens is minutes down the road and I'm lazy

Hey Kayla, wondering where you have been asked about you in your breastfeeding thread to see how you and Jaylen are, hope you get better soon. :hugs:
Glad it worked for you... It might not be for everyone.. but was recomended to me by the doc...I was also very reluctant to give my Ds anything other than breast milk.

Heya Amanda and Vee: i'm terribly sorry but i'm going to have to cancel my monday visit too :(
i've just realised there is so much to do before we move that i need to spend all week packing up... plus the monster in laws are here and want to spend as much time as poss with T-bums... so i'm taking advantage of their arms for holding Tyler while i pack up the house!
Sorry to be a pain, but i just feel like i'm sinking here with everything that needs to be done!
Don't even have time to chat... but hopefully will pop on in the next day or two for a catch up!
xox
Not a problem HPB - these things happen, and it was only 6 months ago that we were moving so I completely understand!
V - do you want to take a raincheck too...I know you have your assignment due, so maybe we just leave it all to a later date - let me know
Hey Amanda - no dramas have PM'ed you, we can always catch up another time we seem to bump into eachother at the shops anyways! hehe
HBP - Goodluck with the move, i understand the stress of it too. :hugs:

Hi Ladies,
Sorry no personals, Liam has been really bad with reflux, has got so much worwse.
I have tried everything, thickening feeds, zantac, mylanta, water elevating head of bassinette, formula vs breastmilk etc etc. Zantac worked for first couple of days but now he is bad again. Going back to Paed again on Tuesday.
Not muich else new. My pram (United Colours of Benetton) has broken twice in the last few weeks, first the back wheel came off then the front, then it was making a wierd squeeking sound. It has also collapsed itself twice with Liam in it. I took it back and swapped it for a maclaren. The maclaren is much better quality!
Who was it that lived in canberra.. i might come down on wednesday if i get in contact with you intime if not DH will fly...

 They are a fantastic pram aren't they! It's the one thing that I soooo wouldn't change and don't regret spending the money on for DD...in fact I'm dreading the day that M starts getting too heavy for the baby bjorn, because if I'm going out by myself, I'd rather carry him and have C in the maclaren, rather than take out our double pram

hey everyone!
i've been exhausted, we had a garage sale on saturday and it was full on, but i'm glad we did it!
got rid of a lot of ****!
Tyler is still having terrible sleeps at night, he sleeps for 2 hours then is up every other hour, so i bring him to bed and he pretty much sucks on me to sleep!
I've tried giving him the dummy at night and he spits it out..
HOWEVER dummy gets him to naptime sleep in about 10 seconds!!
I don't know if i should keep using dummy or not? Previously he's been taking about 10 - 15 mins to settle himself, but dummy is pretty good. Am i starting a bad habit or is it good to use because he's not crying so much?!
What is everyone elses thoughts with dummy... when do you use one?
OK that's about all from me... i've gotta get back to packing land! xoxox
HBP - have been meaning to ask...where on the coast are you moving to? Until 2 months ago, my parents lived at Carrara, and my brother still lives down there (somewhere near Dreamworld...isn't that sad that i don't even know what suburb!)
M's doing really well at the self settling thing :smiliedance: and decently at the sleep thing (though he's stopped doing the big sleep at night - back to 4hrs but that's okay)...but the poor little bugger is relly in the wars...he STILL has his cradle cap (6 weeks later!!!!) and is suffering really badly from dermatitis :crying: It just looks so sore andyucky...only seems to bother hime when I'm trying to clean or dry it properly. Back to the docs tomorrow as the prescribed cream doesn't seem to be doing a lot...have been doing some googling of my own ( i now...bad idea) and apparently dermititis is often linked to allergies (eggs, milk, wheat, soy, nuts, corn...gee all the easy things to avoid NOT!) and asthma - I sooooo hope that's not the case - only time will tell though...
And I have a 2 year old as of tomorrow:eek: :party:where did that time go!!
2 :flowerz: Happy Birthday.. your worried about cradle cap my SIL is still getting rid of SIenna's

hey amanda, T has a rash on his chest lately and still has the cradle cap too!!!
I am not sure what his rash chest is about, it kind of looks like the milk rash he used to have on his face, but it's all over his chest :( i don't know if it bothers him or not, but he seems generally the same... interesting if he's alergic to something, i hope that's not the case!

Oh HBP, I was equally as disappointed to read your post as I was relieved. You are talking my language here. S's wonderful sleeps have turned to cr@p. She was sleeping anything up to 7.5 hours at night but since we had the gastro bug early last week, she is also doing the 2 hour then up every other hour thing. I'm shattered, exhausted, confused and feeling a bit like a failure over the whole thing. Every time I think I've worked out the issue, that night's sleep is still rubbish:hair:
I understand the dummy thing too - I relented and gave S hers in her cot last night only to have her spit it out 10 minutes later and start crying anyway. Finally at 2:30am (she'd only had a total of 1.5 hours sleep for the night), we curled up on the couch for a co sleep until Ry woke up at 6:30.
I hate that I'm getting her used to our cosleep cuddles thinking that she will keep rejecting her cot in the safe knowledge that I'll sleep with her later. I hate that I'm resorting to the dummy at night. I hate that I can't let her cry because (1) I can't stand to hear her upset and (2) it wakes Ry up and keeps DH awake when he needs his sleep so he can function at work. I hate that I can't get her to sleep through the next sleep cycle and most of all, I hate that I'm so tired that I can rarely look at this whole thing objectively. At 2 in the morning, S wants to talk and smile and I can't help smiling back. I adore her but I just want her to sleep at night again!
Today, I've moved into lockdown. I'm going to limit her sleeps today and also limit her use of the dummy. I don't want her to rely on it at night. I need to get her to relearn how to self settle if we ever want to break this pattern. She's such an agreeable little thing but is just happier to be awake than asleep.
She fell back into an okay pattern mid-last week for 2 nights. 4 hour +3 hour with a 4:30am wakeup. I'm even happy with this because this 1/2 hourly wakeup is doing my head in :rain::geek:
For anyone teaching their bubs to self settle, are you doing a pickup/put down method or how? Does your little one cry and if so, for how long?
On a brighter note, Happy Birthday little C happybirthday. It's a lovely day for a birthday:flowerz:
You said she is talking your language.. when it comes to sleep come to my house... J had that infection for so long we were lucky to get 30 mins between waking up.. he has slept once in his bed and sienna is teething again.... so up every hour some times... as for dummies i give them all the time i have found with a friend if you dont they may chew on their thumb and the little boy now has scares....
My DH flies interstate quite often so he needs to get the 1st flight.. which means he is up at 4ish and doesnt get home until 9pm some times so i have to keep sienna and J as quiet as i can.... so i know what you mean about DH and sleeping
Oh just to add have you tried getting them used to a toy it worked perfectly for my friend... hold bub and toy close to you so they get used to the toy and associate the toy with you
Thanks for the birthday wishes RM and Bel - so far it's been a good one
RM - sounds like you need a lot of :hugs: at the moment.....I think last night may just have been the night for it - only 4 hrs of sleep at this end too.
We're not really a good example, because at the moment DH has taken refuge in the spare room and M is in with me - not great (and lonely :crying:) but it means that he gets some sleep so he can function and then I don't have to freeze. Because he's right there with me, I'm actually a bit of a fan of talking to him, but not touching - that way he can be reassured that I'm there, but not counting on the cuddles...Am pretty lucky though that we do tend to get the 3-4 hrs cycle (he may be away for half of that but oh well) so I do feed and put back down...I can't let him cry too much either, so not looking foward to the permanent move to his room while he's unsettled
During the day, he wakes, I feed, and then about 2 hrs after waking he gets this high pitched wail - I put him down in his co and he whinges for less than 5 misn before just dropping off - usually sucking his fist. Once it gets to the wake up that's closest to 3-4 I don't let hime sleep again - can make dinner hellish, but I then bath at about 6 (well taht's when I could bath every night - because of his poor skin I've been told every 2nd night max, so that takes some of the routine away), and then feed again and put down - during our best times 2 weeks ago he was sleeping pas the 10-11 feed all the way through till 1-2, and then back down till 6-7 ..... unfortunately not for the last week though, but am blaming it on the dermatitis (which is certainly better than blaming myself which i'm prone to do and then that all builds up!!!!)
Maybe during the night, put her in her rocker and talk to her, but don't cuddle??? or sit beside her cot or whatever. I personally think at this age it's still alright to cuddle and whatever as needed - i know there's the idea of creating bad habits but really they are only 3 months old - lots of time to be strict as yet. She's also probably going through a bit of a spurt so may be needing/wanting to feed a bit more often, and even movement in her jaw, so you help relieve that (no help I know)
can't really help any more than that. so some :hugs: again...when you find the miracle, pass it one

ooh RM!!!! it's terrible isnt it...but it's good to know we are not alone!!
All those things you listed that you are feeling bad about are exactly the same things i am going through!
I feed bad that T has forgotten how to selfsettle and will only do it on me in bed now!
I tried keeping him up in the evening before his main nighttime ritual to tire him out, but that didnt work either, he just got soo tired rubbing his eyes and getting grizzly!
Amanda, what do you do to keep M up after 4 before his nighttime bath and bed?
I too try to give T a bath and then feed at 6pm!
I'm not sure if this will help you RM, but we have a music box and nightshow that is attached to T's cot .. it can play for 10 mins, that does sometimes help. we put it on every sleep time and is good for naps
HBP - play with him, carry him, park him in front of the TV - whatever works really - often lots of grizzling, but we just go with it
RM - was also going to say, take a step back and breath....I had a **** week last week and it probably wasn't a lot to do with the kids - just the stress I was placing on myself to ahev everything perfect for C's birthday etc etc - you've got a lot on your plate at the moment (in terms of stress about Ryan...has he had that appointment yet?, return to work ideas etc etc)...while the sleep think is obviously not good, it's probably just a little piece of the puzzle - if just one thing can be solved hopefully you'll feel a whole heap better about the other things???

Thanks girls:hugs:
A funny thing just happened. I went and dusted off my old copy of the 'Baby Whisperer' and read through a few pages which made sense of some things. S was showing the tired signs they refer to so I took her to her cot where she started to cry and fuss. I gave her her dummy and read some of the page out loud to her....I looked down and she was fast asleep....in her cot:sleeping:
HBP, the book states that a dummy for a 3 month old is still okay given that they are prone to spit it out after a while - they just don't suggest it for older children.
Even hearing your stories and reading a bit of the book has calmed me a little. I'm going to have a little snooze now too. This afternoon I'll work the same way - no more feeding to sleep if I can avoid it...we'll see :p

Hey may mums, im finally feeling better but poor Jay is still alittle unwell.
All this talk on sleep and dummys, here is wats happening with Jaylen: At night he sleeps from 7:30pm till 7:30am, during the day he will only have 2 day sleeps of an hour in the morning, 1- 2 hours of the afternoon, i would like him to have another nap around 4 but he never will, during the day he has atleast one unsettled time and i have to give him a dummy to get him off to sleep, i hate using a dummy, i dont want to use them but its better then having him crying and upset, i use the dummy as less as possible and never of night.
Rynosmum- I have tryed the whole letting them cry there self to sleep thing but after a couple of mintures i went running to Jay, i cant sit there and listern to him cry, i want him to no his safe and secure and that his mummy is always there.

Hi ladies,
Feels like forever since I've posted in here!
RM, sorry to hear that you're having a rough trot. Sleep deprivation s#cks doesn't it? Makes everything seem twice as bad as it really is. I put L into his own cot from day 1 and used to let him self settle for 5 minute periods, then I'd go back if he was crying, re-wrap him and try again. Since perservering with this method he now self settles really well. I can read the signals when he's tired, he goes to bed and will sometimes cry for about 1 minute, but then he's out like a light. I know it's hard to leave them crying, but it really does work!
hbp, I've tried the dummy on L but he doesn't want a bar of it! I'd rather he have a dummy than suck his fist, or eventually his thumb because it can (worst case scenario) cause them to push their front teeth forward, or to develop a lisp or to need braces (my cousin's a dentist).
I hope everyone whose babies aren't sleeping well decide to sleep well soon. I don't want to jinx myself but L has been sleeping really well the past 4 nights, from 8 or 8.30pm until 3 or 3.30am, then 4.30am till 7.30am :D. He's such an easy baby these days, very placid and cruisy and all is good.
On the MIL front, all I can say is :hair: she is driving me bananas already, and has only been here 3 days. I've rung some girlfrieds and arranged to go out to a play centre tomorrow arvo for a little sanity relief.
Well I can't stay and chat, just wanted to pop on and say  to everyone. happybirthdayto C, I hope she has a wonderful birthday and I'll be back later.
p.s. Cass, I can't make it tomorrow.

I'm coming tomorrow! I have to go to Big W there anyway. What time?? I'm leaving Jasmine at home since DP is still not working. He had an interview earlier that went well, he'll find out tomorrow if he got the job. :fingerscrossed:
The whole sleeping settling thing, I have no idea what I'm doing. I just do what feels right...we've had over a week of Rory not going to sleep until 11pm and then waking up again around 4am and then again at 8am. This week she seems to be back to sleeping from 11pm to 6am. It constantly changes, we have no routine at all. If I try and get a routine it goes out the window within a couple of days. I'm still struggling to find time and energy to get the housework done. Things are still a bit all over the place for us and she's 10 weeks today!
I don't let it bother me too much. I hate dummies, but yes we do use them. If she keeps spitting it out, I stop giving it to her. Most nights she'll fall asleep no problems in her bassinette, but its just easier at the moment to co sleep. I find she'll sleep longer next to me and is more settled during the night. DP and I have shared a bed more times in the last month than we have in the last 3 years :smiliedance: so the co-sleeping isn't every night. Getting Rory to sleep isn't the problem, its getting myself to sleep that I'm having issues with. I can't seem to get to sleep before 2am most nights and of course I'm sleeping in to late morning since I'm so tired from tossing and turning all night and waking up to feed Rory.
I'm babysitting a friends son on Thursday, I'll have two 3yo's running around how am I going to amuse them both? I think we might do some baking!

happybirthday Charlotte happybirthday And happy two year anniversary of becoming a mummy Amanda. Hope you're all having a wonderful day. Hope M's dermatitis clears up soon too. How terrible if it is due to allergies - I mean - I guess at least then you can get it under control - but in terms of having to watch sooo closely what you eat - that would be so difficult. Not that you wouldn't do whatever you could to have a healthy child, but you know what I mean.....
:hugs: to everyone who is having sleeping, settling issues with their little ones. I'm feeling your pain a little at the moment - Char's had a couple of days of only going to sleep if I'm cuddling her/carrying her/feeding her, cat-napping, then being grumpy because she's tired and needing to be cuddled/carried/fed back to sleep :hair: It's just so hard with a toddler as well, and trying to keep him entertained - and away from the baby when she is sleeping  Thankfully she's still really great at night time, so I'm getting a decent night's sleep most nights.
HBP - about dummies - I've never used one, because DH hates the things, but I think if it works, and it makes T happy, and you get a bit of a break, then that can only be a good thing. We worry so much about habit forming, etc, etc, but at the end of the day if it gives you a bit of a break for your own sanity, it's not a big deal.
Mel - sounds like a playdate is a great idea! Hope the MIL doesn't drive you too crazy for the next week and a bit!! It scares me that I'll be a MIL one day - I sooo hope I'm a nice one
RM - I sort of got my period back the last week too. I don't have it now - it was one day of spotting after a couple of days of feeling like my period was returning - but how bizzare. That's what's so good about this exclusive breastfeeding business, right??!!!! What's with the both of us having to go through that already?!! Hope S continues to settle well for you this afternoon and that Ry's appointment this week goes well.
The cat nap is over and Hi-5 is nearly finished, so should go and see if the little monkey will go back to sleep and the big monkey is distracted enough not to wake her!
M's doing really well at the self settling thing and decently at the sleep thing (though he's stopped doing the big sleep at night - back to 4hrs but that's okay)...but the poor little bugger is relly in the wars...he STILL has his cradle cap (6 weeks later!!!!) and is suffering really badly from dermatitis It just looks so sore andyucky...only seems to bother hime when I'm trying to clean or dry it properly.
And I have a 2 year old as of tomorrow, where did that time go!!
Happy birthday for little Charlotte - hope she has a great day! :D
Cam is the same with cradle cap and face rash, wonder if he has dermatitis too? it gets a little bettewr, and then worse again, so annoying, he has lost so much hair cause of it! :(
You're probably right. Ry's appointment is Thursday and I've got a few things I'm stressing about - can you believe I have my period back already and I'm on the minipill and breastfeeding?
Bugger about AF coming back, how annoying! Where are you going for Ry's appt, i'll be at the childrens hospy on Thursday with Cam for his appt about his penis.
Emsmum - Sorry about the MIL, they are too painful sometimes, glad to hear you are all going reasonably well though.
I'm babysitting a friends son on Thursday, I'll have two 3yo's running around how am I going to amuse them both? I think we might do some baking!
Oh thats brave, hahah, hope you have a fun day. Hope your Dp is successful and gets the job. Fingerscrossed for you guys! Sounds like Rory is going well, we go with the flow here too, Cam sets his own pattern and i just follow.
The cat nap is over and Hi-5 is nearly finished, so should go and see if the little monkey will go back to sleep and the big monkey is distracted enough not to wake her!
So cute, but yeah not fun when they don't understand to be quiet, Joshy will still talk so loudly at night last night i was getting so frustrated at him and said so many times to be quiet or he'll wake the baby up.
Bit of an update here, finished my first assignment for uni, so that's awesome, had to go up to my folks to use their broadband, dialup is so ridiculous. Came home and ordered broadband and thankfully it's finally available but will cost me a bit in inital set up cause i need a modem etc, but anywho, hoping that it will be better for uni etc. I also joined WW online, cause i really need help losing weight, so i hope that this helps as i could lose about 25kgs or so. And yes also Cam has his appt at the specialist on Thurs, so will see what they say. Josh is still going well at daycare which is nice, it's my birthday this weekend so that's exciting, and generally just going to be pretty busy.
Hope everyone is well. :) Chat soon.
Vee
ETA - Oh yeah, Cam is teething already poor mister is very grumpy at times.

Before I forget and especially if I don't get a chance to get back online before Thursday ..... goodluck to Ry and Cam at your appointments, RM and Vee I'll be thinking of you both and hoping that you get good news about your boys. :hugs:
Also, happybirthdayfor the weekend Vee. Hope you have a great day. Are you doing anything exciting?
RM, bummer about getting AF back - what's the deal with that? That is SO unfair. I remember mine came back with a vengeance 1 month after I stopped breastfeeding. Perhaps it's to do with the minipill? Dunno, never been on the minipill but it's all I could think of!! Stoopid period
Bel, L hates the avent dummies. I did buy some tomee tipee dummies a few weeks ago but haven't even tried them because L doesn't really cry much, and when he does he's pretty easily consoled so I haven't really needed them, but might need them down the track so will hang on to them.
I forgot to say in my earlier post, I had my hair done last Saturday and now feel so much better. I left hubby home with both the kids. E was fine, but L didn't want his bottle which in turn stressed daddy out which in turn stressed little L out even more, as he picked up on daddy's stress. Luckily grandma was here and got some milk into him, but I seem to feel much more relaxed when the kids are with me for some reason
Better go and get dinner ready - chicken schnitzel, scalloped potatoes, steamed carrots, brocolli and beans, & garlic bread mmmmnnn!
Hey Girlies,
Melb Mums Meet - I dont know if i can make it tomorrow coz Hunter still has a temp from his needles last Thursday and is still really unsettled from it i think that he has a cold aswell though as he has yucky eyes and a bit of a runny nose too.... i really do want to come but Waverly Gardens is going to take me an hour to get there and i dont think i should take him that far especially coz we just got back from Venus Bay i know its better for all you girlies to go there coz its close but im way up the other end in the eastern suburbs but i9 will see how he wakes up in the morning and jump on here and let yous know... just in case where are we meeting and what time???

Hey Meegz, I forget where you are but if you're anywhere near the new eastlink the exit is right near waverly gardens, DP used it to get to Ringwood the other day it took 10 minutes. I'm ok with going to Dandy if thats better for you and Cassie and Kayla. If Hunter is sick its probably best to let him rest, see how things are in the morning and let us know.
What time are we planning on meeting anyway?

Vee, we're off to Prince Charles, not Children's unfortunately. Otherwise we could have been nervous together over a coffee before the appointments:p
Thanks for the kind wishes for Ry everyone. I think Amanda's right - I think I'm still stressing about Ry a lot more than I thought. He's my gorgeous, gentle boy - even considering there to be anything wrong with his heart just devastates me. Chances are that all will be okay but I'll be a lot calmer about the world when we know for sure.
Mel, I know what you mean about being more comfortable when the kids are with you. DH and Ry are planning a boy's camping weekend and although it will be a great break for me to only have little S to look after, I find myself giving DH the 3rd degree about how vigilant he'll have to be when looking after him. I know that they will be perfectly fine but I also know the difference between a Mother's attention span and a Dad's....
Well, the sleep experience was different last night. I kept S up for most of the day so she'd hopefully sleep. A big mistake as she was so overtired by the time I put her down that she screamed, even with me sitting next to her, patting and trying to calm her, for almost 45 minutes. She then went to sleep, woke 3 hours later and I fed her, changed her and put her back down awake. She grizzled for 2 minutes then went to sleep for 3 hours, then woke for a feed and went back to sleep with no grizzling for another 2 hours. Her sleep pattern is soooo vastly different from even a fortnight ago. Hopefully now that she's relearning how to self-settle, she'll be able to resettle herself for longer periods at night. Ahhh....I can't wait for that day.
I hope everyone meeting today has a good time! It's a public holiday here (although DH is working) so we're going to do some baking, maybe visit my parents and then catch up with DH this afternoon.
Oh, and might I say that Mel's hair does look fantastic! I'm lucky enough to have spied some photos - one very good looking family there (well, no comment on DH yet as I haven't seen him )
Kayla, can S have some of J's sleepy dust?

Is the Prince Charles the one at Chermside?? They're great - I had my wisdom teeth done there...is your DH going to go with you as well?? Some :hugs: ready for tomorrow and I hope you've got a weight off your shoulders tomorrow afternoon
I wondered about the overtired when you siad it...i know M's best sleeps are when he's had enough during the day (though better when he catnaps in and out of the car, rather than big long sleeps)...poor blighter looks so sore - am going to ring up today and see if I can get an earlier appointmene with the dermatologist if I go to one of his other offices.
And we've survived the birthday - C was so good yesterday and really really spoilt...am even happy with how the cake turned out (RM - I attempted the carosel one out of the book you did Ry's cake from....don't do it to yourself with S ) , so will have to post it later

I know.. he is just over 7kg.. he doesnt look it in pics but when i held him up against Kyra he was double her size..... will get a pic of the 2 of them together... considering sienna is in the 75% range for 15 mths old then he looks big
Kayla did you get my message do you need any clothes ?? what size is Jaylen? half of them Jarvis never wore as he was too big for them

Morning! Waverly Gardens is closer but if you guys prefer Dandenong that ok. I have to go to Waverly Gardens at some point today to put money on a lay-by.
I've turned my computer on this morning to find the fan is making a horrible sound. I'm going to have to pull the thing apart and have a look at whats going on inside so may not get back online today. Oh, it just stopped, disaster averted!

A recent one.. those with girls tell me what to do with her hair???
Very cute pics! Hair... :hair: I wish I knew! Jasmine has curly hair like Sienna's it gets worse as it gets longer. We use lots of detangler, her hair is so fine it gets really notty. We tried tying it back with hair clips, but they would just fall out. Headbands fall off...maybe try putting it up in little pigtails.
Ok see you guys at 3pm at WG's then!
Vee, we're off to Prince Charles, not Children's unfortunately. Otherwise we could have been nervous together over a coffee before the appointments:p
Oh i see, well i'll be thinking of you and your little man while me and my little man go to the specialist. Sorry to hear little S is not sleeping well and is upset, poor thing.
Amanda - Let us know how you get on at the dermatologist, i'd be interested to hear what they say about Mitchell. I spent $50 at the chemist today on things for Cam, for his cradle cap, his excema and his teething. So wow, that was a lot of money! I am going to wash him every 2nd day or so in QV Bath oil, then put QV bath cream all over his body and face, i also bought goatmilk soap to see if that may help too. I also got some Avene gel for his cradle cap which was kinda pricey, but hopefully it works and i'm sick of smelling the vegetable oil on his head and it goes away and comes back, it's horrid i hate it! lol. And yeah then i got some bonjela and the brauers teething relief, so hopefully it works as he is starting to look a little worse for wear my poor mister.
He had an unsettled day yesterday cause of his teeth, but the night wasn't too good either, at least he wasn't too upset between wakings, just as soon as he finished a feed and went to sleep he'd wake up again nearly every hour till 7:30am, i was a tad over it! lol He also used to take one side of the boob and go back to sleep, last night he wanted both sides and then still wasn't really happy. I'm so tired. And Josh was not happy about going to daycare today, he took about 30 minutes to calm him down enough before we could leave him there, i know he is ok now though as he's alright once we leave. Mum is coming down tonight to watch Josh so i can just go to the hospital with Cam by myself tomorrow.
Thanks for the birthday wishes Mel, we are going up to the coast so i can see my twin sister for our birthday we are going to sizzler breakfast buffet!! (Was a good idea before i decided to join weight watchers!) hehe, but yeah will still try and stay within my points and i'm saving points this week so i can have a little extra over the weekend. :)
Anywho, im tired, better do some uni reading while the little man is at daycare and might even go for a walk later to go and get him! :)

I've been so wrapped up in things that are going on with me, I haven't been replying or doing personals to a lot of you. So for that I apologise :)
Happy birthday happybirthday Vee, Amanda and Charlotte (please tell me I got that right!?)
I'm about to head off, just thought I'd pop on and say DP got the job, he starts tomorrow. I'm looking forward to getting back to some sense of normality. Jasmine was very upset when she heard daddy is returning to work, she keeps thinking he's going away again.
I hope your bubba's appointments go well RM and Vee.
Meegz, I meant to ask before, when did Hunter have his injections? Rory had them 2 weeks ago and has still being having diarrea. I think it's the oral one that causes the problems. It really makes me wonder if its worth putting them through all this.
hello all..
Sorry it's been a while..
Sorry to hear that some of you are having health issues with your little ones... I know how scary and stressful that is. Hope that all is better with them all soon...
My DS who used to sleep 9-10 hours through the nigh.. will if I'm lucky go 5 hours.. and then only 3 till the next night between feeds...
I do have him down to 6 feeds a day.. and we have solved the reflux issue.... any suggestions???
Thank you again.. for all your support...

I would suggest resettling your DS when he wakes up after 5 hours. He may have gone through a growth spurt and then got in the habit of waking again. That's excellent you solved the reflux issue though. We are still battling with it. What did you do.

I think I'm still stressing about Ry a lot more than I thought. He's my gorgeous, gentle boy - even considering there to be anything wrong with his heart just devastates me.
Oh god, my tummy just dropped when you wrote that :crying:. I can only imagine how scared and nervous you are. Try and stay positive & optimistic, Ry just has to be fine and WILL be fine. Can't wait to hear that everything is a-ok! I'll be thinking of you tomorrow.
Oh, and might I say that Mel's hair does look fantastic! I'm lucky enough to have spied some photos - one very good looking family there (well, no comment on DH yet as I haven't seen him)
Thanks gorge :hugs: you're awesome for my ego! You have a pretty spunky family yourself.
And Josh was not happy about going to daycare today, he took about 30 minutes to calm him down enough before we could leave him there.
It's awful leaving them at daycare when they're so upset isn't it? I hated that with Em, she used to break my heart ..... 'dont leave me mummy' :hissy:
Enjoy your breakfast at sizzler on the weekend. Good on you for starting weight watchers, I lost 12 kgs on that a few years back and will start it again after I've finished breast feeding - I'm too hungry atm to worry about dieting  Once again, goodluck tomorrow.
Well, I don't have much to report. E's been a bit clingy & whingey today, bit jealous maybe, but just wanted mummy all day today (which is lovely) but hopefully today she'll be a happier little vegemite. We have gymnastics next week and I'm a bit embarassed about seeing some of the mums as I broke down in tears last week because I'm really confused as to whether E should repeat 4 year old kinder next year or start school. She is one of the youngest and the thought of her going off to school and not being ready emotionally (which is where the issue is), getting picked on and not being able to stand up for herself just breaks my heart. I think I'll take her to the prep transition and see what the teachers have to say. It is so hard, I want to do what's right for her and maybe repeating 4 year old kinder isn't the best thing for her, and maybe sending her off to school isn't the best thing either. I'd gladly have her home for another year but hubby's like 'send her to school, she'll be right' (typical bloke attitude) but he doesn't know her like I do, aaarrrggghhh. I wish my mum was here to talk to (boo hoo), she'd know what to do!
Anyway, hope the Melbourne mummies had a good meet today. I'm off to bed now, toodles!

Thanks Mel, i better go to bed soon too need to leave here at 8am to get to the hospy. And yeah hoping i lose something, never lost more than 5kgs in my life! So it's going to take some time, it's easy enough to track with WW online and also i can eat 29 points cause i'm bf so that's generally plenty of food. :)
Sorry to hear about Em, they have their days don't they? When we pulled up he cracked it in the car park and then kept going, 'mummy i go home now!' and then whinging and saying 'mummy please, please, i wanna go home now' I nearly cried too. We had to stay for a half hour, and play with him then he was ok. So excited when we picked him up though it was cute. I don't know what i'd do regarding school either, it really is such a difficult decision and you just want whats best for your little un. :hugs:
Better head off to bed myself, night all, will check in again to let you know what they said at the hospy.

oooh dear mel: that must be really hard decision with little em! Maybe you could talk to her kinder teachers and ask them how she might cope?
I couldn't imagine sending a little one off to school at such a younge age. And i know what you mean about DH not knowing her like you know her. You spend so much more time with her... is it something you could talk to her about even? :hugs:
Vee: awww that's cute and sad about josh and DC. I think he'll eventually get used to it and enjoy it. But that would break my heart if my DS was saying that too... i would probably turn the car around and go home crying haha but i'm such a sook!
amanda: good to hear that C's bday went well! Sorry i couldn't come ova and finish off those leftovers! We had a big day packing today... still feel like i have so much to do :(
Bel: verrrry cute pics of your kiddies! S's hair is too cuute, but i could imagine it being hard to manage being so fine!
RM: good luck tomorrow with little Ry! :hugs: I hope everything goes well... i'll send out some positive :goodvibes: for you both! Let us know how he goes
Miranda: awww the flu is yukky isn't it! Horrible when you have to get up during the night to feed bubs and can't be there 100%. I hope yo u feel better soon
Xanthia: 5 hour sleeps is pretty good... but i hope your little one goes back to the good sleeps for you again. Mine max sleeping stretch is about 3 and half hours lately!
PJ: that's great that your DP got the job! wooo!! must be a relief!

Jaylen woke up not once but twice last night ARRRRR!!!!! His been sleeping through for nearly a mth now, What happen??? Hope i dont get a repeat of last night tonight.
Mel- U have a really hard decision ahead of you, i no i dont have a child going off to prep but i no wat sort of feeling u r having, i would do anything to protect my child from pain, hurt and all the horrible people out there. Sending u big hugs :hugs: im sure u will make the right decision. When does Em turn 5?
Also dont feel embarrassed about seeing the other mums we all have moments where we break down in tears.
PJ- Have fun babysitting today!

It was great to finally meet you in person Kayla! I couldn't believe how big Jaylen is too, but he is nearly a month older than Rory, maybe Rory is big for her age too.
Its gone quiet, I better go check on the little monsters. So much for them sitting down and watching a movie!
Hey girlies
Melb mums:Cassie, Kayla and PJ.. Im so bummed i couldnt come yesterday i was looking forward to meeting you all so badly but i have to get Hunter better first and i gotta say he woke up today happy so its lookign good yay!!! But Kayla said that the next meet might be at knox which would be fantastic for me as i actually know where it is and its not too far away it takes me 30 minutes to 45 depending on the traffic :D So hopefully that meet is soon!!!!!
PJ - Hunter had his needles last Thursday but seems to be ok today he is asleep at the moment on his nanna haha such a cutie pie.
Mel - You must have a headache from all this i feel for you i really do its a massive decision.... I was 4 when i started school and didnt turn 5 until April that year, it has never affected me and i loved school mum said the first week was hard but i made friends quickly (especially coz all of my kinder friends went to school to - mum reckons it would of been bad for me to repeat kinder as i would of had to make new friends all over again) I soon loved school and loved my teacher and even had my first sleepover.
I think you should try to talk to Em, i know she is only 4 but she might tell you how she feels about it but i think if she went to a school where her kinder friends were going she would be ok!!! Either way she will be ok :hugs: for you, you will make the right decision either way you know your daughter more than anyone else!!!!
HBP - I hope your packing is going ok!!!!
US - We got a new car yesterday well we bought it the other day but got it yesterday haha its a Ford El XR8 very pretty!!! And it has 4 doors yay i'll mi8ss my lancer though!!!
We have to get it converted to gas though as it will chew through the petrol otherwise!

Meegz- I'm glad Hunter is better today. Have you used eastlink yet? it will cut a huge amount of travel time. Knox is fine by me, its not too far. I can probably get there if I drop DP off at work early, LOL I've got my mums car back but I'm not meant to drive it, we're selling it for her.
Enjoy your new car! I'm hoping I'll have my own before the end of the year just have to sell the Rav4 first, anyone want a car?? just kidding, its not an ideal family but it would make a great first car ;)
Mel- Sorry I can't offer much advice on the situation, its only half way through the year, kinder might help her prepare for school in the coming months. It can't hurt to enrol her and then see how you feel about it at the beginning of the year. We might be facing a similar issue with Jasmine...I've enrolled her in 3yo pre-school but they don't have any places until next year, since she turns 4 next July I'm not sure if they'll keep her the whole year in the 3yo group or move her up to kinder half way through the year. If not she'll have two years of kinder and wont be starting school until the year she turns six. To be honest I think thats a bit too long for her to wait, but I also think she'll be too young to start next year. I wish they'd let them start mid year! 6 months makes a huge difference at that age.
I was just going to say, its a miracle that I got 2 3yo to have an afternoon nap LOL no such luck! I can hear them playing.
Just popping in to see if there had been any news from RM or V...or Sammum for that matter - she would have had her appointment on Tuesday....thinking of you all :goodvibes:
Emsmum - I thing Megs makes some valid points about the peer thing...mind you it will become more of an issue if she has to repeat later instead. Being a girl, statistically there will be less concerns over being at the younger end...and remember the next 6 months will make a lot of difference too. In saying that, I have a friend who's 5 year old boy is in prep and wasn't coping particularly well, so she now makes it a 4 day week for him and goes an volunteers for a half day a week as well so that she can be involved, keep an eye on him and try an find lots of positives so that she can talk the experience up for him ready for next year..... and the sad thing is that we're all going to be going through it in 4 years time if they keep the June 30 cut off and all our babies will be the babies!...only you know what is right for your little girl :goodvibes:
Hi Guys,
Just thought id pop in and say hi again as I havent in a long time and let you know how my little man is doing. :D
Well after being in hospital for the first 3 weeks after birth with urianry reflux :( and being so sick Jacob looks like hes doing well. He loves laughing and trying to talk to everyone.
Next week on the 20th Aug I have to take him back to the hospital for further tests for them to check his kidneys and see if theres any damage. Im keeping my :fingerscrossed: every thing will be okay for the poor little mite.
Here are some photos so you can see how far hes come from being sick in hospital

Hope everyone and there bubs are doing well.Im loving every minute of having a bub in the house again..I think as ive gotten older Ive become more attached to my kids IYKWIM
I would suggest resettling your DS when he wakes up after 5 hours. He may have gone through a growth spurt and then got in the habit of waking again. That's excellent you solved the reflux issue though. We are still battling with it. What did you do.
Thank you.. will try... He slept through last night 9 1/2 hours...
With the reflux.. I cut out eating chocolate, garlic, musk lollies and citrus as well as giving my DS milk thickener. Worked for us...
Xanthia
Oh Melly he's so cute! Glad to hear that all is going well...seems to be a few health problems running in here at the moment, so :fingerscrossed: some of them are resolved soon!

Hi Everyone! Well, I'm pleased to announce that little Ry's heart is perfect - just like him:goodvibes: He has an underlying vibration which is nothing to worry about and should resolve by his mid-teens. No further treatment needed. Can I also say that the Cardiologist was one of the most awesome people I have ever met, not only fantastic with Ry but scheduled us within a fortnight as a favour to our neighbour the heart surgeon and then proceeded to not bill us but suggest we go out and enjoy a nice family dinner with a champagne celebration instead of paying his bill and bulk billed us!! I protested (although the fee is normally over $300) but he was adamant. Is it wrong to hug a Doctor - (cause I did....).
I'm so relieved. Amanda, you were right - I only realised after the appointment that my I had stopped organising anything from today onward - it's like my life plans stopped entirely today. It my bestie's birthday tomorrow and I haven't even bought her present yet - but will head out first thing in the morning and then have arranged to take her to lunch.:flowerz:
Vee, how did your appointment go this morning? I hope your news is good too!
Mel, Ry will be 4.5 when he starts prep next year. Some people have advised that I should hold him back although we've been working heavily on spelling, counting and writing his name etc this year so he'll be more prepared. As they say though, it is more the social aspect that is important. Mel, Ry like Em is a little sensitive but a generous gentle soul. He also can be a roughnut when he's excited though and I'm thinking that prep will help him explore this side of him a little more. I'd like to protect him from other kids for the rest of his life but at some stage he has to face the schoolyard. Even today at the Drs, there was a little boy in the waiting room making Ry feel uncomfortable as we were checking in. When he showed p at the next checkin counter, I asked Ry what was wrong and he said that the other child was making faces at him and being mean. I just told him that the other little boy didn't seem very nice and to ignore him - we headed to the other side of the waiting room and played with Ry's security toys for the day - his Koala handpuppet and one of my soft cotton shirts that he loves  I don't want any kid to pick at Ry's innocence ... but they will and it's my job I guess to prepare him for that.
Anyway, it's a good day today. S woke up 4 times last night <sigh> but things could be much worse.
Melly75 - it sounds like what Jarvis is going through... we have 3 more test coming up 1 at westmead childrens another at Nepean Imaging and then another at Nepean Nuclear Medicine to see for one if Jarvis has Kidney/Bladder/Renal Damage and the 2nd he is border line of wearing a brace for his hips...
Mel - when is Em 5 which month???? My Nephew was 5 in June he is doing ok had problems at the public school but doing really well in the Catholic school... he is going into high school and he just turned 11...
DH was 18 while in Uni so that was a bummer.. dont know what i will do i could even end up with 2 kids in the same grade depending on how sienna goes and Jarvis... i have been told i will get asked if their twins as Jarvis is only 4 kg off sienna's weight and once into the toddler age they will look the same...
Mel are her friends starting kinder????
Rynosmum - thats excellent news....
Im wondering why all the bubs in May 08 have problems.... we didnt have many at all in the May 07??????
Im having a shocking day today with Jarvis.. i was told if his temp spikes then i have to take him back to the hospital... i think he is hot due to crying...
Just cleaning out the kids rooms while they are asleep..
Does any one need anything that has smaller bubs???
I have about 1000000 girls baby bibs that are too small for sienna.. will save some for lauren as she is coming over on the weekend... also i have newborn socks that neither child could wear as they have big feet! including those rattle socks that are still in the packet
As for boys stuff you name it i have it... all packed of cause as J went into pretty much 000 from birth then 00/0 now.....
Just to add i have soo many toys too our toy room is full.. they have been given so many toys that other kids have grown out of........

Yes Jacob has appointments at the renal, surgical, neonatal clinics plus he has to have a urinary tract ultrasound, micturating cystourethrograthy(i have no idea what this is yet) and renel perfusion...this is all in one day. im going to be so  by the end of the day.
Did he get the MRU done?? which hospital????
Vee- Howz little cam going? has his penis been checked again yet? Jaylen is off for surgery in November :(.
Well today was ok, i still have to make a decision but it's not that easy. Cam does have a slight webbed penis but the doc said basically it's more to do with appearance and cosmetic than performance/function etc. He will have to go under a general anaesthetic and wait until he is 9 months old before we can do it so we have time to think. We have an appt in 6 months for the childrens hopsy, and have another chat and see whether we want to go ahead.
I am in two minds, i don't want him to have any unnecessary procedure but then i don't really want him to have anything slightly abnormal about his doodle, and really the only time to do anything is before he is 2, so i can't wait forever to make a decision, at the moment i'm kinda urging on the side of doing it rather than leaving it. Have to decide if the risk of surgery, recovery etc will be worth it.
Rynosmum - What an awesome doctor you saw, i hope you do take him up on the offer and take the family to dinner instead of paying his fee Good to hear the news about Ry is all positive.
Thanks guys for thinking of us, can't post much more Josh just woke up and Cam will be not far off waking either.
Did he get the MRU done?? which hospital????
He wont have anything done till the 20th and will be having everything done at Princess Margaret Childrens Hospital here in Perth
That's fantasti news RM - couldn't have hoped for a better outcome by the sounds of it :yelclap: And gald to hear life can resume (oh and I hear you on the **** sleeping...I'm just blaming it all on M's poor skin and hitting a 3month growth spurt! He's been really distracted feeding (so I think getting a lot of let down, but not hind milk), sucking his poor fingers to death, filling himself with wind, only doing single sleep cycle at a time alllll day, and overall not being too comfortable.....great for my milk supply with all his partial snacking though......I expressed over 120mls in 4 mins yesterday from 1 side and still only half emptied that side  It was that or burst!!!)
And a positive for you too V - though in some ways I think it's worse not being told you 'have' to do something because the pressure comes back to you to make the decision. I know a lot of others will probably disagree, but I agree with your reasoning, and think if it were M I'd probably err on the side of doing it. As a 'cosmetic' procedure, if it was considered a major risk they wouldn't bother doing it, and I definitely think that same is good with those sorts of issues (especially when you consider the trepidation that EM and RM are going through at the moment sending their biggest bundles off to school)...anyway - will catch you tomorrow - just text if you can't make it...I'll still be going to NL no matter what as I need to get out of the house before I go stir crazy!!!

hey amanda! T hasn't continued past single sleep cycles during the daytime in aaaages! He only really does about 45 mins at a time for his naps. But everything you are describing has happened to T also, since he hit the 3 month mark, and not much has changed hahaaa
I just popped him down for his evening sleep at 7 and sure as god made little apples he was having a sook at 8! But just as i was reading your message he's gone quiet! :smiliedance: I was about to go in there, but i'm glad i waited a little bit. I think it's really hard waiting and listening to them cry, but to be honest i feel it's best in the long run. Obviously if he was hysterical i would go in, but he was just a little sooky!
AlSO, i'm a little concerned T doesn't babble much like other peeps babies do. He occasionally will say a few funny babbles here and there, but only really short and one at a time, then nothing for a while! I got upset while i was changing his nappy earlier as i was raving on and he was just listening and smiling at me, but not talking back... am i over reacting? lol
WHen should i be concerned that he's not talking to me?
RM: YAY for Ry's results! that's awesome news, i bet you are sooo relieved!
Vee: :hugs: that must be a hard decision for sure. I think if they can fix him up so he is looking similar to other boys bits then it can't be a bad thing getting it done.
From my experience with boys, they can be terribly self conscious of their 'boybits' that it could affect him later on in life, like when he is a teenager, if he didn't look like the other boys....iykwim? Soo if we were to take a vote, i would say DO IT!
Plus i think getting it done the earlier the better, so you can help look after recovery, lots of extra booby feeds and cuddling while you still can.
I don't think it's like having a nose job or something like that, this is a very personal matter, and i'm sure whatever you decide will be the right decision for your little boy :) :goodvibes:
dammn DP went to get dessert yesterday and he came back with a block of cadbury snack chocolate! grrrr i told him i was trying to lay of the chockies... of course i had to dig into it! me soo bad!
I'm sure you deserve it after all the hard packing work HBP!!! And if he's not sleeping well, what difference is it going to make :p
M doesn't babble constantly - he's a bit slow to get started, but when he's in a good mood loves a chat (usually over my shoulder at the people behind us). Is he responding to you/your noises? That's more important at this stage. He'll be still trying to work out how that tounge of his works and how it can create different feelings in his mouth (which will then translate to noise). You may find that he is a 'quieter' baby - without other terrors running around he's probably not used to constant noise ;). Keep talking to him and it'll come - you're doing well with that - I think it took me till the 2 or 3 month mark to feel comfortable baby talking with C - I just felt silly!

Thank you.. will try... He slept through last night 9 1/2 hours...
With the reflux.. I cut out eating chocolate, garlic, musk lollies and citrus as well as giving my DS milk thickener. Worked for us...
Xanthia
Worked for us as well - no chocolate, garlic, spicey food or citrus and milk thickner. I can still eat white choclate which is good - I've always been a Milkybar fan!
She is sleeping really well now as well - 8pm through to about 3 or 4am, this morning she slept until 5am :smiliedance: Much more civilised and I'm starting to feel human again, the 2 - 3 hourly wake ups where sending me crazy.
She is still a very "spitty" bub & we don't pick her up with out a cloth nappy folded over our shoulder, but it doesn't upset her any more. We go through heaps of bibs, and whenever we take a photo try and remember to take the bib of first, take the photo quickly and then whip it back on!
Sounds like most of those with health issues are resolving - great news!

nevjay and xanthia... what is the deal with milk thickener? Is that only for forumla fed bubs?
my bub is breastfed but seems to have similar to your bubs... the constant spit ups and upchucking and terrible sleeps :(
He wakes pretty much every two hours if not hourly... doing my head in.
Also a general question to the breastfeeding mummies: At night, when do you decide to resettle bubs rather than feed?
If it's only been an hour or two hours between feeds, should i try and resettle rather than just constantly feeding?
When we move i'm putting T in his own room, because i think he wakes more when we are in the same room. He seems to wake not long after we go to bed...
Who knows if it will make a difference... worth a try anyway!

The milk thickener is Karicare Food Thickener and can be used for breast or formula fed bubs. I tried it after xanthia posted she had had success using it. Eve is breast fed and I mix it up either in cooled boiled water or expressed breast milk, then I use a syringe to give it to her. I give it to her about 10 or 15 minutes into a feed and again at the end of a feed. I have only been using it 3 times a day. It is a pain, but it helps if you mix up enough for the day and keep it in the fridge. Looks like you are feeding your baby glue!
Eve sleeps in her cot in her older sisters bedroom. During the day she usually sleeps in the rocker in the lounge or dining room - with loads of noise going on around her. We don't tip-toe around when she asleep. Her first 8 weeks were really hard she was taking an hour to feed then we'd be lucky to get a 3 hours sleep out of her, it was usually 2. She would cry out as if in pain, usually a few little crys that wouldn't wake her but it would build and she'd go red & arch and cry as if in pain and be really hard to settle.
The thickener has really helped, also I was shown some baby massage for colic by a paediatric physio friend and this really helps her - it feels like I'm pushing the wind out of her sometimes!!
At night when Eve was waking every couple of hours I usually just fed her - mainly because it was easier and I was soooo incredibly tired! But if she had fed 2hours earlier I offered her the same breast so she was getting more of the hind milk. The constant feeding could be part of the cause of T's problems. During the day we would try and stretch out the time between her feeds - I was told that feeding to much can make colic worse. It is hard to do, especially when a feed gives instant quiet!
A few times my husband settled her with the dummy, which she would do for him but not me. But now she spits the dummy out and sucks her thumb, a couple of times we've heard her start to cry and then she finds her own thumb and all we can hear over the monitor is a slurping/sucking sound and she goes back to sleep.
I was never very keen on dummies, didn't need them for my older 2 and they didn't suck their thumbs either. But this time round Eve was so unsettled and in desperation we tried a dummy and it helped, then about 2 weeks ago she started sucking her thumb, she pushes the dummy out with her fist and sucks her thumb. The trouble is you can always throw a dummy away when they are too big for it but you can't through the thumb away!!
Sorry I've rambled on a bit, hope it is of some help!! Goodluck :hugs:

Melly its good to see how far Jacob has come, he's looking so much better! I hope things get easier for you now.
Great new RM! glad there is nothing wrong with Ry.
Vee :hugs: I tend to disagree with everyone else, but I'm sure you'll make the right decision for you. We as parents have a huge impact on how children view themselves and their self esteem. DP certainly doesn't have any issue with confidence down there, and he has the exact same problem as Cam, but then DP isn't your average man! LOL I'm sure he'd be happy to read me write that!
Yesterday went reasonably well with two 3yo's they played nice until mum came to pick him up! Thomas will be here again on Monday. My friend is pregnant again and expecting in March. I told her a couple of months back she'll have a March baby girl. I'm right so far!

Hi Ladies,
I'm a may mummy who doesn't post much as I don't think I could keep up with you all, although I do jump on to read how the bubs are doing as I find I can learn from you all along the way:laughing:
Anyway, I have been reading some of the posts regarding sleep issues with the babies and just wanted to let you know that I had major dramas with DD sleeping and hubby and I went to Tweddle sleep clinic and haven't looked back since.
I'd be more than happy to share the techniques I learned (no control crying!!!) for those of you that are interested. Its been a big help to me and although there is some work involved, our DD is a lot happier now that she can self settle. Just PM me and I'll respond. Don't want to go too much into it here as it will end up being an essay!
Take care and good luck everyone, its such a trying time having a little one at times but I wouldn't take it back for anything.:yelclap:
Sounds like most of those with health issues are resolving - great news!
They need to send their luck our way!!!! its a never ending issue with us
Also a general question to the breastfeeding mummies: At night, when do you decide to resettle bubs rather than feed?
If it's only been an hour or two hours between feeds, should i try and resettle rather than just constantly feeding?
Anything's worth a try HBP!!! I tried to do the resettle without feed last night (after 3.5 hrs though, so was probably pushing it uphill!) and M screamed the house down! do you find that he farts/burps/ anything when he has all these wake ups? If so, you may just find that he is uncomfortable so waking, rather than needing feeding (though as NevJay said can be easier said then done to keep the peace at stupid hrs of the morning.) Personally that's the reason why I don't feed (well rarely) under 3 hrs, because I'm just adding to the wind etc that Mitchell gets. Does he settle during the day if you just pick him up for a cuddle/whatever.....that may be worth trying - if you think he's hungry but too short a time in between, pick him up and walk around for 5 mins. If he settles he obviously just wanted some comfort/winding whatever, but if he's still crying then try offerring him food.....if you can't last out the 5 mins, start with 2 mins and increase by 1 minute every 2nd day and build up
Anyway, just ranting now - good luck with the move!! And V - can't believe that I forgot to say happy birthday for the weekend before I left - have great one!!
oh and Daviesgirl - if you do have the inclination, I would love to read the advice you were given and I'm sure I'm not the only one!
oh and V - just found your Mum :D

And thanks for the birthday wishes, don't worry i forget it's my birthday sometimes too! lol We are at my parents now, i'm so buggered, meeting up with my old mothers group gals some have had new bubbies too and two others are pregnant, so that's exciting, will jump on again later tomorrow hopefully.
PJ - Thanks hun, i appreciate your input heaps, definately gives me food for thought about Cam. :)

Vee- U have a hard decision ahead of you, i didnt have to make a decision about Jays penis as it needs to done as it would cause to many problems leaving it. I have spoken to the doctors about pain etc. and they have told me that the first couple of wee's (2-3) will hurt but after that it wont, they said the only pain relief he will need is panadol and that in most cases the bubs are fine and dont even no its happen, they also said i can be there when he goes to sleep and be there when he wakes up. Hearing all this has made me feel alittle better about Jay having it done but of course im still worried and rather he doesnt have it. Goodluck with watever u decide :hugs:. Happy birthday vee.
amandaw- Some great advice u gave to HBP , some things i can use in there too, thanks.
Daviegirl- Im alot of the may mums would love to hear some techniques u have used.
HBP- If Jay woke up before 3 hours i wouldnt feed but after 3 hours i would.
Rynosmum- Gald to hear u got great news about Ry! :D
Question- Does everyones elses breastfed bub feed alot in the late afternoon between 4-8?Jay does and i think this is the key to him sleeping through, when i feed him alot between 4-8 he sleeps 12 hours straight but if i dont do this he wakes once a night.

Mitchell doesn't, but then doesn't sleep through either. When he was having his good times (ppuulleeaassssse come back!) he would feed say at 4, then 6 then sleep through till at least 1-2, but that hasn't happened in a week. He doesn't tend to get to the stage of crying for feed's I just do it when time suits (and if I try to feed and he doesn't want to, then he won't have a bar of it!)

I think you're onto something Kayla. I'm starting to try to fill S up in the late afternoon because I genuinely think she is hungry. She's always been a quick feeder and I just don't think she's getting enough in her tummy (thus the 2 hourly wakeups). Then again, we have done a lot of work on self-settling this week and she will now go to sleep on her own straight after I put her down (at the most there is a 4 minute 'calling out' time) so the wakeups consist of a half hour or less of feed and change rather than a 1.5 hour feed/change/settle. It's heaps better.
Vee, sorry I missed it. happybirthday I hope you had a lovely day! About Cam, I'd be tempted to do the op as I'd hate to think he'd be self conscious as he grows up but I'm sure you'll make the right decision for him, regardless of which way you go - without seeing it, it is hard to imagine how much it will impact him.
Amanda, are you back to the nightly wakeups as well? You, me and HBP should have a nightly support group:laughing: Hubby let me sleep for an hour this morning - it's amazing how much better it makes you feel:yes:
Hey All
Rynosmum - You're not late, it's my birthday tomorrow. Thanks all for the birthday wishes. :)
Thanks Kayla, sorry to hear Jay has to have an op, i am still undecided, i think we might not do it, i have more time to think about it, but yeah we shall wait and see if it gets better.
Amanda - How is Mitchell? Gosh Cam has gotten worse too, his face is terrible weeping and got sores, i went and saw that lady i was telling you about who is basically a naturopath and she said that it's caused from my milk, so putting the creams on works for a while and then it flares up again. She said it's only masking the problem not getting to the bottom of it, which makes sense. Anyways bad new is i need to go on an ellimination diet, no coffee, tea, no wheat/gluten, no dairy, no softdrinks etc etc, heaps of things. So after my birthday breakfast at sizzler (can't miss out on that yummy stuff!) I am going to go on an ellimination diet to hopefully help Cam's skin get better. It's so terrible, it's getting worse and the back of his knees is getting red and irratated too. Poor little mister, i hope you get some joy from the dermatologist it's really sad that they are not 100%. :( I am reading different articles about gut flora and allergens and things like that at the moment and it's making sense to me. It's also cause my body is not working properly either, i'm passing on my allergens to bubs as i have a sensitivity to gluten and am lactose intolerant. So makes sense that he is too. :( Bummer.
That does sound tough V.....Obviously if it's all making some sense to you, go with the elimination diet...but after seeing how bad M got, I'd nearly be tempted to take C to the docs as well while the diet kicks in....while I know you'd rather take a more natural route, if it's getting weepy, then you may actually need some sort of fungal treatment (well that's what M did) and you really don't want it to progress as bad as his did...only 6 more days till the drmatologist (and counting!!!!!) - will let you know what he says...

Yeah i am really considering it too just to at least control the 'flare up' is the fungal treatment different to a steroid based cream or the same thing? Our poor little babies. :(
You can buy an anti fungal that is seperate to the cortisone cream (or a combined one, but only by prescription)...our poor boys!
And thanks for the link...will have a look when I get a chance to sit down for a decent read

Hi Everyone and Happy Birthday VEE!!!!!:yelclap: I hope you have a lovely day!
Well, good news from no-sleep central:laughing: Since we started working with S's self-settling skills on Tuesday, we are now seeing an improvement. I've been graphing her sleep times, durations and self-settling times for the past few days (mildly pathetic but oddly helpful :o) and last night, each sleep period extended from her 1-2 hour stints to a minimum of 3 hours, thus only 2 middle of the night wakeups (a huge advantage over the 5 we were having earlier this week). Settling is getting really easy too as she has only taken a maximum of 4 minutes to settle herself when I put her down awake.
I did do the cluster feeding before her bedtime last night as well so this probably helped a little as well.
Hoping for another good night tonight:fingerscrossed:
To be honest though, I'm convinced that she has gone through a growth spurt. Clothes that fitted her last week no longer do and she just feels more solid than she did. I'm sure that this has played a pretty big part in her massive hunger.:flowerz:

Thanks for the birthday wishes. Sounds like definately a growth spurt, and seems like things are sorting themselves out better so you can get some sleep.
Amanda - Cool, yeah i think i'll make an appt when i get home for Cam aswell just to get a referral anyways to see what they reckon. Has his improved at all, or gotten worse or stayed the same? Gosh i am getting really stressed about Cam's now, i wasn't before but am now.
RM - that sounds a lot better :smiliedance: It's sad when 2 wake ups is a success . And don't feel pathetic...I think with C I wrote down every feed, sleep and nappy for 3 weeks just cause that's what the Wes taught us :o
V - Have had a look at those pages... I think what I most got out of it is that nothing works for everyone!! I'm actually hoping that the derm jumps straight into testing for the triggers because that sounds like the best way to address the concern (and I'm not as motivated as you...would rather wait to see what the derm says and eliminate that on a trial basis rather than eliminating everything to start ...man if it's a lactose/milk allergy I'm screwed!!!)...and that way I also don't go and spend a fortune on stuff that's not going to make a difference anyway
Try not to stress too much - I'm sure it's bothering both of us more than it's bothering them at this stage....easier said than done I know....there's usually a feeling of absolute helplessness here when he's crying because I've hurt him while trying to gently clean or ointment the area :(. I''ve been usuing just sorbalene on his body (and the cortesone of the affected parts) but realised today that the redness is spreading over his trunk *groan* so tonight I decided to try some of the Advent magic cream (was suggested in one of the threads and I already had some here) - will see in the morning
....All I can say is ROLL ON FRIDAY!!!!
oh and hope you got spoilt today!!!
Yeah i was thinking similar things with the other threads as so many different things work, some don't best to wait and see the derm for sure. Sorry to hear M's has gotten worse. :( Poor cherub. I am hoping we get to the bottom of it soon.
Got breaky for free from Dad, and then slept most of the day while mum watched Josh, it was lovely! :) Yesterday we had a busy day at the park so was pretty wrecked and slept most of the day, got to see my twin sister to say happy birthday so that's nice we don't always get to catch up with eachother on our birthday now that we do different things.
Hope you guys have a good night. Cam is very upset today. :(

Hiiii everyone!
havnt posted in a while...
but...
everything is giong pretty well, kyra is doing well and is now eating a tiny bit more, but is still under 5kg. shes finally over the virus she had, poor little cherub. but now the wind pains and reflux are hitting with a vengance, dont get to see the paed til the 28th, such a long wait. hoping that they check her reflux properly. she is still projectile vomitting at least once a day, which sucks cause i cant feed her unless we are at home cause i dont want her to do it in public, its stressful enough at home let alone somewhere else.
we are still in 0000 and 000 here. and newborn socks and what not. at least she is getting wear out of all of her little clothes.
shes 2 and a half months now. its going soo soo quick.
thought i would post a a couple of pics for you.

Yep Bel - very excited about meeting you, Sienna and Jarvis!! Was just coming in here to see if you guys were still coming.
Just let me know what time, and I'll try and work Isaac's naps around that :D
Sooo much to catch up on with you guys. I read the thread every day, but don't have time to post after reading!
Vee - glad you had a great birthday and a yummy time at Sizzler! I miss Sizzler!! They don't have them in Canberra :crying: Hope that Cam's spots and cradle cap clear up soon - poor little mite. How's uni? And Josh? And the clucky thing is terrible, hey? I'm clucking again already, but wouldn't know what to do with three under three!!! Seeing little baby girls all dressed up so prettily will do it though - I'm so thankful I had a girl this time around (not that I would have minded a boy) I get to buy all the cute pink things and dress her up (Isaac too at the moment - he seems to think Charlotte's headbands make him look "pretty Isaac" when he puts them on )
Amanda - I really hope the dermatoligist can get to the bottom of M's problems quickly too. Crossing my fingers for you that if it is an allergy to something, it's something easy for you to cut out of your diet.
RM - Sooo relieved that everything is okay with Ry. And sounds like S was definitely going through a bit of a growth spurt and is getting back into her normal, happy, sleepy little self which is wonderful for you. I don't think charting sleep times, etc is weird or strange or pedantic - I think it's a great idea. I need to start doing it with C I think, just to get a better idea of how much she's sleeping through the day.
HBP and Amanda - I'm so glad I'm not the only one with a baby waking up after the first sleep cycle. The poor little thing - she's soooo exhausted, but unless she's in the sling, or out and about in the pram, she just can't get back to sleep by herself. Thank goodness she has a really good night stretch, it means I get a bit of a break.
Kayla - very jealous that Jay sleeps ALL night :p I think the cluster feeds are definitely what help him sleep through, and I wish that I could do that with Char, but if she's not hungry she won't have a bar of me trying to stick my boob in her mouth  I sometimes think she doesn't get enough, but she's obviously just smaller than Isaac was, and doesn't need as much. She's growing, and happy, and has lots of wet nappies, so I guess she's okay.
Well, she's now crying, which means it's time for a sleep or Isaac has poked her in the eye, AGAIN
Hi to everyone else I've missed - back later.

Hi there,
Just thought I'd pop in and say hi while DD is at kinder and I have 5 mins to myself. I haven't really read the last few days posts, just skimmed through, but wanted to thank those of you who commented on my kinder/school dilemna for E next year. I'm still confused about what to do, get butterflies in my tummy and want to cry every time I think about it, but think I'll book her in to do another year of kinder but also let her do the prep transition program next term and see what the school thinks. I think the school will say that she is fine to do school next year. My bro is a principal and thinks she is 'absolutely fine' it's just so hard when different 'professionals' tell you different things
Anyway, other than that we are all good. MIL is still visiting and she's actually been quite good. It's enabled me to spend some 1 on 1 time with E, then 1 on 1 time with L, and also to just pop out when I need to and leave L home, which has been great not having to get him in and out of the car in this cold weather!
L, for now, has a little routine. I feed him at 6pm(ish) then let him have a play and give him another drink just before 7pm - bath at 7pm, then another drink (to really fill him up) just after 7.30pm and into bed by 8pm. He then sleeps until 2-2.30am, then back to sleep from 3.30am until 7am. He's doing really well and I just can't stop kissing him. :D
Not much else to report, we had 2 birthday parties on the weekend, E has 'special persons day' at kinder on Wed and is bringing grandma and her cousin along, then after gym on Thurs she has another party to go to and then she'll probably go with her dad to the airport on Friday morning to see grandma off!
Well, I'm off to do a few chores. Hope everyone is well and Vee I'm glad you had a nice birthday!
Mel thats what i wil miss sienna and Jarvis dont have any grandparents... so what do i tell them if they have some thing similar??
Called the preschool i want sienna and Jarvis to go to in 2010 for sienna & 2011 for Jarvis its on 5 scres and has animals... they said to come in and put their names down.
Yep Bec we are booked to fly down will get to the shops at around 10.30 and we dont fly back until late afternoon...
Vee Dh loves Sizzler....
Bec girls tend to be smaller i wouldnt stress too much....
Better run Jarvis is sleeping will try and get some  Kayla you are soo lucky to have a sleeping baby.. although sienna slept from 3 - 6 months perfectly now at 15mths still wont sleep through....
Oh some one please teach sienna to walk she can i have seen her but she wont she is too lazy
Mel thats what i wil miss sienna and Jarvis dont have any grandparents... so what do i tell them if they have some thing similar??
Not lazy Bel - just still coming (and she probably sees you carrying J and figures if it's god enough for him, then it's good enough for her :p
And it'll just mean that you might get the invitation being the very 'special person' in their lives -:hugs: I'm sure that they'll be brought up knowing that their grandparents loved you and your DH and that's all that really matters - unfortunately you can't change what's happened
 thats funny... ask my SIL she calls her lazy too... sienna was with me at my sisters and my sister offered her a biscuit so she opened her mouth........ she has started doing things herself this week she hold the drink bottle instead of you giving it to her... noticed yesterday she towers her cot.. its also a junior bed and double.. what age does a bub usually go into a junior???? im hoping she can walk by that point...
You'll get totally mixed responses on that question Bel! Some people will say that early is good (so as to not create attachment issues with the cot, as with everything you don't want them to keep long term), and a lot of people say leave them in the cot as long as they fit and aren't climbing out (ie why fix what ain't broke style). We've got everything for Charlotte, so just waiting for a week when we're at home and motivated enough to stick to our guns - especially cause she's a huge wiggle pot and don't doubt that we'll find her in all sorts of weird spots in the morning. Personally I'd say S is too young at the moment, because until she can climb on and off, she'll freak out if she goes over the rail and can't get back in
Vee - glad you had a great birthday and a yummy time at Sizzler! I miss Sizzler!! They don't have them in Canberra :crying: Hope that Cam's spots and cradle cap clear up soon - poor little mite. That's so cute about Isaac and yes i'm jealous you get to buy cute little girly clothes! lol Uni is good just got my first assessment back got 7out of 10, so that's alright i think it's a credit, but it's only at 10% weighting, i have an assignment due in 3 weeks which is 40% of my mark then the exam at the end of semester. Cam's cheeks are still horrid, poor thing, so yeah just perservering with things at the moment.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, and yeah i would have no idea what to do about school either, such a hard decision, i'd probably ask her and see what she wants to do.

Yeah it wasn't half bad, but next time i might go to hogs breath for dinner or something, very nice!
Hope everyone has a great day.
Isaac's Mummy
19-08-2008, 14:06
Bel - I agree with Amanda about the bed - if it's not broke, don't fix it!! Isaac is in a bed through the day for his naps, but he's still in the cot at night. Though when we move we'll probably move him into the bed permanently, he'll be 2 then. Up to you really though, if you think S is old enough, go for it.
I'll probably be at the shopping centre at about 11.30 - is that ok with you?? Might be earlier, just depends how long Isaac fights his sleep for in the morning
Mel - glad MIL is not getting on your nerves too much and actually being helpful. I love weekends for the one on one time I get to have with the kids, it's so lovely, isn't it?!! It sounds like L is in a lovely little routine now, and you sould so much happier and less stressed out. I hope you can figure out what to do with Em. It must be hard, everyone has different opinions, but at the end of the day, you know your little girl best, and you know what's best for her. :hugs: I'm sure whatever you decide to do, she'll shine :flowerz:
Vee - woo hoo - first assessment out of the way, and what a great result :yelclap: Hope Cam's spots clear up soon, poor little thing.
Amanda, how's M's skin going at the moment? Hope the ointment is helping settle it down a little.
Miss C is going through an "I won't go to sleep unless my mummy is holding me" phase. Which is lovely. But doesn't help me get the housework done or keep Isaac out of the pantry  I'm going to have to try and get her to self settle this weekend, when I have that extra pair of hands around to entertain Isaac.
