I left my old job when I was pregnant with my 18mth old son I had 13 months off before I got another job. Ive been working since Feb and have had alot of time off due to my son (the most) or myself being sick.
He has had ear infections, conjunctivitis, tonsilitis, gastro and endless coughs and colds......

He now has another dose of conjunctivitis and I work at the centre he is at and we sent home 2 children the day I was there with conjunctivitis.....

:banghead:When will we stop getting sick:banghead:

That happened when I first went back to work and put DD into day care. It took about 6 months, but now she hardly gets sick at all, her immune system must be fabulous. It just takes a little time I think, being around so many other kids all day everyday, they're bound to get more sick than those that stay at home with mum or dad.

It can be really frustrating getting through the constant sicknesses after a child starts day care, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel, sooner or later the immune system will be good enough to not catch every little thing going around. Hang in there.

Our son brought home a cold every week for the first 6 months of his Kindy days, now he brings one home every 3 months or so, when he does they are doozys :(

Can I suggest maybe a multivitamin to help boost their immune system for the time being, it may help starve off the severity of the actual bug. We're currently looking into it ourselves after someone shared their lovely cold at DS' Kindy and now our 5 week old has it really badly, to the point where I called an ambulance last night for him for breathing problems.

Should I be worried? My DD has been going to daycare part time since the start of the year and we've had one lot of gastro and several colds, but nothing too bad. (touch wood!) Will she start getting sick once she starts school and is around othe kids more often?

I agree, a multivitamin can work wonders. Last year my dd1 was always getting sick and then bringing it home to share with her little sister. She was only in daycare one day a week but it was enough to pick up every bug out there! She's always been a fussy eater so after talking to my gp I started giving her a multivitamin called pentavite (has been around for years). This really helped keep infections under control. This year my kids have rarely been sick, a nice change from last year. :fingerscrossed: it stays that way.
