I am at a loss as to what to send DS for lunch at daycare. He doesn't eat sandwiches and tbh at home he doesnt actually have lunch, just biscuits, fruit and yoghurt throughout the day and set breakfast and dinner. Daycare dont think this is good though so any ideas?

crackers and dip
muffins
cut up fruit
little sultana boxes
rolls
carrot sticks
leftovers from the night before that can be reheated?
home made pizza?
crackers and cheese
rice cakes
For my DS's (1 and 2) I send:
2 pieces of fruit
yoghurt tub
pasta dish/other leftovers (tortellini is GREAT!)
fruit bar/muesli bar
sultanas and mixed dried fruit
Their lunchboxes always come back empty, so I guess it is ok!
For kindy I give DS a sandwich and 2 serves of fruit everday. And snacks vary: homemade muffins, sultanas, rice wafers or cruskits with vegemite, rice crackers, muesli bars, yoghurt, plain bikkies.

My kids love baked beans and spaghetti so I send it for daycare lunch.
In their lunchboxes I also send a tub or yoghurt or custard, 2 pieces of fruit, le snack, muesli bar. If I've got other bits and pieces that I've bought in a particular week I may send it as well/instead.
I know some kids take party pies/sausage rolls for lunchs. Oh and I sometimes send cocktail frankfurts. Daycare are more than happy to heat food for the kids. 2 min noodles also go down well.

:o I had no idea there were daycares that don't provide food. I thought all daycares provided morning/afternoon tea and lunch at the minimum. How about making some meals up on Sundays and freezing them for the week? Spagetti with vegies, sandwiches, casserole.
Here is what I used to send to daycare (sorry for the repeats) -
Fruit:grapes, strawberries, bananas, pears, watermelon, rockmelon, honeydewmelon,
Dried fruit: sultanas, apricots, pineapples
yoghurt
cheese sticks
fruit bars
fruit sticks
spaghetti/baked beans
biscuits (Milk Arrowroot, Scotchfingers)
fruit jelly
muffins
carrot sticks/grated carrots
cucumbers (peeled & diced)
custard
Tiny Teddies (& other packaged varieties)
muesli bars
pikelets
cupcakes
I think that all centres should provide food, it would make life easier for everyone. In this day and age so many children have alergies and I would not want to send my child to a centre where there is a possiblility of children bringing peanut butter sandwiches, for example, into the centre.
Surely it would be more work for the carers having to heat up individual lunches. There is also the chance that children will swap lunches and I wouldn't feel confident that my child was eating their own lunch.
Anyway, I would suggest those little packs that have cheese, bickies or rice crackers and ham. You could even make your own up and put it in a tupperwear container with cold meats, cheese, crackers, grapes, saltanas etc. Anything your DS likes. Good luck.
