theres no question for me, i say swing set. i dont think kids should have a trampoline till they are at least 3. if you have a 1 yr old i think thats to young. mind you these days with the netted ones i can see why some people are ok with it. but still, its a swing set for me.

i would also say swing set. that way they can both play at the same time. a 2 year age gap is enough for the little one to get jumped on and hurt by the bigger child if they are on the trampoline together and they both can't play if they have to take turns.

We get the kids a trampoline. We have heaps of parks with slides and swings around the area, so we don't need one in our yard.

But the boys will be 4 and 2 by X mas. So I reckon that will be alright.

As long as you supervise them and don't let them do anything stupid on the trampoline, I think they're safe.

Regardless if trampoline or swing set, something happen can everywhere.

i know almost every kid has a swingset but i hear alot how it barley gets used. my son only used it for the swing, wich i could of got for $40 lol, i notice the older kid will hang upside down from them on the odd occasion, thats it. trampolines are great
my son is 3, he has one at nannas house and he only goes on there with a adult supervising. he knows this so its never been a problem for us:)

I'd say the swing set. DD has a trampoline which she loves but she has only just started using it properly (jumping instead of just sitting on it.)

Trampoline for sure!!! We have both and they use the trampoline waaaay more and they are happy to stay in there(with zip up net) and bounce while I hang out the washing etc. But with a swing I can't get anything done because they always want me to push them. And now (they are 3 and 2) they use it as monkey bars and jump from one thing to another then to the side bars....so dangerous! Of course not all kids are like mine....:D

I would say swing set. I agree about the danger of smacking into each other whilst jumping, but my main concern would be the damage to their knees at that young age. I think I read somewhere that it wasn't good - too high impact? Not sure - I could be completely wrong! Plus, I Looooooooooooooooove swings (even at my age!!LOL)

We got a swing set for the boy's for christmas, Josh loves it already and he'll be 3 by christmas and his little bro will only be 6 months, but i'm sure they'll get lots of use out of it. Plus i wanted it so that when he has friends over they can play on it too. :)

another one who says swing set, target has some lovely wooden ones hehe, I think they are great. easier to mow under and that too. imagine dragging a trampoline across the lawn or tipping it up to mow under and all that.

Go the Trampoline

Think of all the energy the kids will burn off on it :D

oh dear....it's quite divided. I agree it would be a pain to mow under a trampoline but it is a bit more of a novelty than the swings. We go to the park quite often.
Next question, did you get the real big trampoline or a smaller one?

We got both last year for the boys so they were 1 and 5 at the time. The trampoline gets far more use than the swing set.

ETA - we got the 8ft round enclosed trampoline and it's the perfect size  We only allow one person at a time.

We're getting a 12 ft one, the one from the Target toy sale, so something medium, not too large and not too small either.

Friends of us have both as well and they also say, their kids are using the trampoline much more than the swing sets.

That's what I thought as well, since we have lots of parks around and also meet up with other people at parks, they will get more out of a trampoline.

we have a trampoline.... had a swing set - barely got used....

also, i haven't heard the knee thing before, but when my DD was 2 we were advised by a paed to get her a trampoline because she had trouble with her co-ordination - well... we got her the trampoline and she is now 6 and you wouldn't know she ever had co-ordination problems with her legs now.... it worked wonders - and it worked quickly too...

Our youngest DS and DD have had a trampoline since they were born and we have used it for them since they were babies.... they would lay on it while we lightly bounced them and they loved it - i can't count how many times this lulled them to sleep when nothing else would work... also DD and DS have been able to jump both on and off the trampoline since they were about 15 months and i believe it has something to do with the trampoline.
