Hi,

I'm Tan and my DH and I have been TTC #1 since Aug 03. I did 10 cycles of Clomid without success and have just done my 4 cycle of Puregon injections and am hoping I will have some good news after the 4 May, if not successful our next step is AI and I'm just wanting to know if anyone went down that path before trying IVF?

:fingerscrossed: for everyone! :)

Tan,
I did AI and first clomid then injectables for 12 months before breaking down in the gyns surgery before IVF, good news it only took 2 cycles to fall pregnant.
I found the AI more stressful running between appointments and taking in specimens for concentrating and trying to remain calm all at the same time.
It seems people that do AI it either works fairly quickly under 6 months otherwise drag on forever!
Good luck
Bec

Hi Bec,

Thank you. I have never done AI before and my DH and I have been on Clomid and Puregon injections which was stressful enough as we had to time BDing at the right time which was putting pressure on him. Hopefully we wont even have to worry about going down either the AI or IVF as hopefully this will be the month but for some reason I have this feeling that as we wont have the pressure of having to BD at the right time every month, I mean he will need to give a sample but it wont be as stressful. But I guess if it comes down to us having to do AI we'll soon find out.

Thanks for your reply Bec and congrats on your bub :) .

Tan,
we also found it alittle less stressful as it took out the "have we done it on the right day- time?" least when a 3rd party steps in ....we had him to blame:D

Hi Bec,

Thats it hey, you only gets the certain amount of time open to you and you just always question did we time it right, its just been so unbelieveable. and you'll be right when it comes to AI we can blame the 3 person then :)

Hope you have a nice day Bec and thanks for your reply :)

Hi,

Just wanted to say goodluck. Brooke is an AI baby with hubbie sperm. IUI they call it as well. I worked quite close to my clinic at the time so it worked really well for injections and insem.

goodluck with your decision. ((hugs))

I fell with my dd on AIH i was on puregon injections and i fell 2nd cycle after months of clomid for me i think it gave us a leg up having the sperm put in the right place if you get my drift, I am starting it again next cycle unless i get a BFP this one:fingerscrossed: I was thinking of starting a thread TTC with Assistance for those of us on clomid, injections or AIH(IUI) not yet on IVF.Would i start it here in the IVF section or in the TTC section any help would be good.

I think a ttc with assistance forum would be GREAT!!! maybe you could email a mod.

Hi Bec and Lis ,

You have both given me alot of comfort now :hugs:, I'm actually really looking forward to AI/IUI.

Lis, I think they do call it IUI now and that was great that you were so close to the clinic, I'm not very close to mine but thats cool.

Bec, thats really good you've started that thread, I'll go over into that one now.

I'll join you girls in the other thread.

we did IUI as well after 2 years of trying on our own. Here is our little story.

We were told that the clinic that we were going to would only let us try 3 cycles of IUI and then we would have to move on to IVF.
1st months - nothing
2nd month - miscarriage
3rd month (and a very nervous wait it was too) - positive pregnancy resulting in the birth of very healthy twin boys.:smiliedance:

The boys are 13 months old now and we had recently been talking about whether we would do it all again for another child. We decided that we really weren't prepared to possibly take someone elses place (who didn't have any kids) so we decided to be happy with our family as it was. The next thing you know, I am pregnant without even really trying...So you just never know!

Good luck to everyone and try to keep your chin up (even when they keeping coming at you with needles!)

Hi twins+another,

I am so happy for you! :) Its wonderful.

We've been told too that we can only have 3 goes at AI/IUI. I'm currently 15dpo and AF hasn't shown yet and if it doesn't over the weekend I have a BT monday morning to find out so :fingerscrossed:

I hope you have a lovely weekend :)

Hi everyone,
I am now 9 weeks pregnant after 3 tries of AI, well actually DI as we needed donor sprem. I couldn't believe it worked after 3 tries as I was expecting to have to do full IVF and I had little faith in the process. So hang in there because as these posts suggest, it can and does work!
Good Luck

Hi All

My DD was also concieved using IUI. We had been trying for 9 1/2 years with no luck. We tried various specialists in Perth as well as IVF and all the alternatives. After giving up completely I demanded one more set of tests and finally PCOS was confirmed. I then went to an awesome if somehat unconventional specialist inconjunction with Concept Fertility.

We concieved our dd on the 1st insemination with husbands sperm:smiliedance:

At Concept they allow you to have 6 goes of IUI before moving to IVF. I had morning Blood tests for 2 weeks of ewach month and internal ultrasounds to confirm ovulation before the IUI.

Given that it is much less expensive than IVF - and in my opinion also less stressful I would certainly say give it a shot.

Our dd born on 23/9/2005 is proof it can work even for those of us that the medical profession had given up on:D

I wish you only the best in your attempts

Hi Hels*Bels and Lexiesmum,

Thank you for your posts, they're great stories and a big congrats to you both!! :)

DH and I failed our first attempted at AI/IUI and then I was told that my uterus lining was still too thick to start a 2nd cycle of AI/IUI so I had a Hysteroscopy and D&C done yesterday so now its just going to be a waiting game for me.

:fingerscrossed: I might ovulate on my own now and we might have success naturally but if I don't I've been told I have to wait 6 weeks before we can start any injections for the next cycle so I'm taking a break from Bubhub now until we're ready again.

Thanks again girls for your stories, for anyone who has read them I'm sure they've given them as much hope as they've given me :)

Take care everyone and I hope to be dropping in again soon :)
