Hi,
I'm a Stay at Home Mummy and enjoy it, I really do.
However, I may have an opportunity to work on the weekends while my partner is at home with our son (he works full time during the week).
I have another on the way, due mid January. I suppose I just wanted to get some feedback from other mummies. Would you take weekend work if you could?

True, I also think it's very important to spend time as a family. I dont know about you but our Saturdays and Sundays are precious to all of us. Its also important for me and hubby to spend quality time together.
However, i'd consider taking on maybe one day on the weekend. Its up to your situation as well. Do what you feel is right. :)

I know what you mean. We have swimming lessons on Saturday which I LOVE watching.
Perhaps I could suggest to do Sundays only.

Hey yeah i would but only if it wasn't going to strain you or the bub on the way. Every dad needs dad time, my hubby is a tug boat driver and works unbelievable hours so i'm sure he'd enjoy that alone time with bub. GO FOR IT!!!!

Weekends are a great time for us to all be together as a family, so if it took up the whole weekend I probally wouldnt, but I think if you want/need to work, then weekend work is the way to go.
Goodluck!

I work occassional weekends, and there is nothing wrong with it, I dont miss out on anything, as I have time with DS during the week every day bar 1.
I think it's good to not only give dad and child time together, but also get you back out there, as you will always be a mum, but you are still you, and that time out gets you back into reality.
I love going to work. I work at the footy, and will be working at Indy when I'm around 5 months pregnant hopefully.
Family time is important, but there are ways of working around it. Depends also on what type of work you are looking at doing, as some jobs you could work say Friday and saturday night (at a pub for example) and have the days together.
The work I do, is not that frequent, so I guess it works better for us!
I have just finished up working in a job that was every second weekend. I had been doing it for the last 12 months and it was really a great job, every second weekend from home!!
I decided I wanted to finish up as it was becoming too invasive on our time together as a family. There always seems to be so much to do around the house that I am either working or Dh is doing this and that around the house and we were never doing things together as a family. If we had a house with minimal yard maintenance then I would consider staying on but in our situation I wanted more time all together.
You just need to decide if working every weekend both days is going to be too much of a compromise on other things you would normally do on a weekend. :)

I had a lady working for me years ago who returned after DD1 to do Sat and Sun - needed the money. She split up with DH just a few months later. They did work it out and we changed her shifts so it was 1 weekday (MIL with bub) and Sunday. She said that never getting a proper day together was what broke the relationship, and by keeping that 1 day as sacred family time it all worked out!

I would work but not full days, maybe just 4 hours on a Saturday and 4 hours on the Sunday or something.
