Well after a long week of painful false alarms the day finally arrived. We arrived at the hospital at 8am to be induced. The midwife that induced me was excited for us, that this special day had come. So after being monitored for an hour she did an internal which only found me to be 1cm dilated. They decided to insert the prostagladin gel. They did that at 9.30am. Straight away i was getting pains. After an hour we decided to go for a walk to get things moving and also to have some brekky. When i got back at 11am, the pains were really starting to hurt. So i decided to have a nice hot shower to help with the pain. They did another internal at 1pm to find that i hadnt dilated at all and the pains i was having were contractions from the gel and not actual labour pains. So the Ob said that he would come at 3pm to break my waters to help things along. I asked for some pethidine to give me a break before the big event. So my Ob arrived at 3.30pm to break my waters, by then i had dilated 4cm. Once he broke my waters at 3.45, the contractions had hit real hard. I couldnt believe how intense the contractions were. I was begging for more pain relief but she said that i couldnt have anymore. So i had the gas instead. I dont remember the pains being so painful and intense with the other kids, it was the worst. I said to the nurse its getting really close, she didnt believe me. She did an internal to find that i was now 6cm, but i felt that it was more than that. As soon as she pulled her hand out i had the urge to push. She told me that i was just getting that feeling cause of dilating, i was like no im telling you i need to push!!! She did another internal to find that i had indeed fully dilated!! Something strange happened at that point. I passed out or something and my DH said that i stopped breathing and looked like i was having a fit!!!:eek: All i remember is blacking out and when i was coming out of it i could hear only my DH's voice but i wasnt with it, i could see the delivery suite but i wasnt awake. Then it looked like i was coming out of a tunnel with weird noises, then i woke up. I was soo scared, i didnt know what happened to me. When i woke up there was a whole room full of nurses around me and the midwife was all gowned up. They were telling me not to push but i really needed to. They told me to breathe through the contractions until the Ob arrived. It was the worst feeling trying to stop your body from doing its thing. Anyway he finally arrived and said "let her go" so then i started pushing. To my amazement it was much easier than the other two were. She was out in two pushes! My DH then cut her cord and the Ob put her on my chest. She didnt even cry, she just looked around. :D She was born at 4.30pm after a 45min labour!!! The nurse actually said that she has never seen anyone dilate 6cm in half an hour. Even to this day i still dont know what happened in delivery, no one will tell me!! But im so overjoyed that our beautiful daughter had finally arrived happy and healthy!! We feel very blessed to have such a beautiful gift given to us!
