I was wondering how many ladies here do weekly meal plans?? I find it much easier and ends up costing me less in groceries as I do a shop according to what ingredients I need!! Here's my plan for this week-
Thursday- Chicken and vegetable soup
Friday- Homemade pizzas and salad
Saturday- Roast beef/lamb with roast vegetables
Sunday- Vegetarian Lasagne chickpea salad
Monday- Vegetarian lasagne with chickpea salad
Tuesday- Pork chops, baked potato and salad with apple sauce
Wednesday- Chicken and vegetable soup
Feel free to share yours!!

I always mean to meal plan. Things run so much smoother when I do.
I even try to plan out lunches (that's where I often fall over and poor DS has the same boring sandwich each day).
My problem is that when I try to plan I go blank! I'm a good cook and can cook lots of different things, but I never know where to start.
So far I have:
Today: Lasagne
Tomorrow: beef casserole.
And I'm stuck for the rest of the week.
Do you have "list" you choose from? How do others do it?
(Sorry to hijack, but I'm very curious...)

I found having a basic idea of what sort of meat each night would be, made it easier to shop for the week...
Sunday: Lamb (roast etc)
Monday: Beef (steak with salad or veggies)
Tuesday: Hot chook or pizza night
Wednesday: Fish/Chicken - depending on the night before)
Thursday: Mince (Sheperds pie, burritos etc)
Friday: Chicken (any type then)
Saturday: Free night...what ever everyone feels like
this helps me heaps when shopping...(I usually go on a tuesday so that is the easy nights dinner) it also helps me plan what sort of things I want to cook if I have all the basics available like rice/pasta/salads/sauces etc...

I do meal plan, it helps heaps with my shopping and if I get called into work that day I know that dinner is organised, mine for this week is/was
Monday: steak, mash potato & veg
Tuesday: roast chicken maryland, roast veg & fresh veg
Wednesday: Tacos (junk food night)
Thursday: Roast pork, mash potatoes & veg
I had a short week this week as I was sick over the weekend, usually I do a Friday - Thursday menu. I had 2 roasts this week as pork was on special ($4.99kg) so were chicken marylands ($3.99kg) we usually have mince twice a week and steak once either diced for casserole something or I marinade (sp??) it.
P.S this is a great thread, I need to do my menu for next week!

yep, we sure do. Saturday night is always home made pizza night, the rest is up for grabs.
gummybear - when I decided to start doing it this way I sat down and wrote out a big list of all the dinners that the family likes. that then gave me a basic list to look at if I get stuck when I am doing the weekly meal list.
Yup we definitely do a weekly plan here. Helps moneywise when you make a definite list to go shopping with. Being vegan, hubby and I pretty much cook every meal from scratch so definitely requires some planning.
This week is...
Sunday - Three Bean Chilli with Cornbread and Avocado Salsa
Monday - Vegie Sausages with Mushroom Gravy and Steamed Vegetables
Tuesday - Tamarind Lentils with Brown Rice, Mango Lassi and Poppadums
Wednesday - Vegie Spaghetti Bolagnaise
Thursday - Minestrone Soup
Friday - Tempeh and Brocollini Pasta
and for Saturday - Bean Burgers and Pitas, with Coleslaw, Couscous Salad and a Green Salad.
We have a big list we keep adding to, when we try something new, and refer back to that if we ca'nt remember/decide what we would like to have for the week.

Yep, I sit down on Sunday night and plan our meals for the week and do my shopping list. This week is:
Monday: Chicken snitzel burgers
Tuesday: Lamb curry and rice
Wednesday: Spinach and ricotta pie
Thursday: Lasagne and salad
Friday: (take away night)
Saturday: Coconut fish, wedges and salad
Sunday: Roast beef and veges
I like to try and mix it up so that we are having at least one red meat, chicken, fish and vegetarian meal each week.
