Hello Fellow Jan Mummies and Daddies!

I have a fairly stupid question to ask but I just can't shake the indecisiveness any longer lol..

Ok so about 2-3 weeks ago I did start noticing that my stomach was getting bigger. However, when I sat down it was no longer firm it became more like a big fat roll that i could jiggle around and my impression is that baby bumps always remain firm. I have always been a small framed person weighing no more than 52-54 kilos. I am just wondering if this has or is happening to anyone else?? When I stand up it does go relatively firm and doesnt jiggle when I walk but it's when it becomes a big "fat roll" when sitting down that concerns me.

Any chance im confusing my 'baby bump' for excess fat!! lol seems such a shallow question but it has been on my mind...

This is my first pregnancy so as you could imagine im fairly clueless:goodvibes:

thankyou for reading! hope all your pregnancies are running smoothy with much happiness and excitement:)

flic xx

Hello,
I feel the same. I am a size 18 and wen i sit down it kinda dissapears but wen im walking around i definatly look pregnant and it is hard. wen i lay down at night i am reasured thought cos there is a definate bump there. I am almost 14 weeks pregnant. just look at it as bubs has a bit of extra protection
just curious as to wat size you both are? i feel very self concious of peoples perception of me because i am a size 18 and pregnant.

You don't lose the layers of fat over the top of your bump - it just hardens beneath it. The reason you notice it more when you sit is that everything sort of compacts into a smaller space - so the fat and skin layers become more pronounced over your bump. This happens to even the smallest of people, so don't stress too hard.

Happens to all of us...don't stress :) Also most of the bump early on is not bubs but is your intestines, etc, which move up as your uterus gets bigger...baby is actually quite low down at this stage. Just enjoy being able to sit down comfortably while you can :)
