AJ has this new development where he hates to be in his pram, he'll lean out the side and scream or just cry and cry, like I'm torturing him. I would happily leave him out of the pram if he would actually follow me, but he doesn't.

This morning went to spotlight to buy some muslin to make some wraps for my sister's little one. As soon as I hit the parking lot he started, I put him in the pram and he got louder. I was hoping that when he realised that he wasn't going to be getting out of the pram he would give up and be quiet.

But no, he screamed, like I was killing him, for the entire time (about 30 mins). The only time he stopped was to take a breath, then start up again. His face was red, he had tears running down his face and making this high pitched wail.

I don't know what his sudden hate of the pram is but I wish he'd get over it. I just want to cry, I don't know what to do, I can't carry him all the time, I don't have enough hands, and he's getting too heavy.:crying: :banghead:

My ds is similar except he doesnt scream just grizzels! If i dont strap him in he will stand up or slide out of it!
Even when we go food shopping, he wont sit in the front of the trolley he has to stand up in the back. Mind you he has just started walking so maybe that has something to do with it:detective:

Are the straps getting too tight, or something like that? Maybe there's a tag somewhere poking into him?? :detective:

Aden went through a similar thing about a year ago. It was terrible, would scream every time, I hated going out. I wish I could remember what we did, I think we always had lots of food or something to keep him occupied, and empty juice bottle did the trick on day. Of course he was at the age where I could give empty threats "I will give all your dvds or fav toy to haryry (cousin)". In the end he grew out of it, thank goodness because with bub no 2 coming at that stage, I didnt know how I was going to handle it. We dont let him walk around the shops much, because he runs off everywhere, always thought of one of those "leash" things (I cant remember the name of them), but was always hestitatent. In the end he just grew out of it. And we found that before we got out of the car, asking him if he wanted to go in the pram would make it easier.

I am sorry if this isnt much help, but I wanted you to know that I know what you are going through, :hugs: , it will get easier.

My DD (11 months) will sit in the pram for a while then decides it's no longer fun and wants to stand holding on to the back of the pram seat and bounce. Drives me nuts!

I no longer take my pram into shops (only when we go for walks), I now just grab a trolley. If she refuses to sit in the trolley seat, I will usually let her stand in the actual trolley and tell her to hold on with 2 hands or else she has to sit down. I will usually also take a toy with me so she can play with it in the trolley (or grab one of the shelf while I walk around and put it back when I'm leaving). Give it a try.

thanks ladies... how is it that you want to kill them one minute then 30secs (or in my case half a day) later they just melt your heart. You should of seen him 1 hr later at spotlight, I have to pick up what I purchased before. No pram this time, I think 1 tantrum a day is enough, there he was smiling and laughing with everyone. Unbelievable! but oh so adorable.

I might try the food thing, thanks jkat. I think I also have to find a toy that amuses him (at the moment it is a string of beads, go figure)

Its amazing what amuses them, they could have all the expensive toys in the world and they go to the cheap ones or cardboard boxes!!

:fingerscrossed: that he gets over it soon
