Just wondering if anyone can help us as this is only our 2nd tax return and we are still getting used to the system.
Last year we received the $600 per child as well as $3500 from centrelink as we had over estimated DH earnings.
We have both done our returns and have received our refunds and we got a cheque from centrelink last week for around $300, but no money for the kids yet.
I did under estimate our earnings this year by $2000 and assumed the cheque for $300 was the diference in FTA + B, do you think this is the case or would they have taken it out of the $600 per child?
Can someone please explain to me what the $600 per child actually is.
Much appreciated :flowerz:

I am worried my DH and i will get the same return you guys did, as i usually over estimate to be safe but this year DH did SO much overtime he made $10,000 more than that estimate :( He has done hsi return online and i didnt need to lodge so in a few days time i will know the damage. I would say they did send you the difference but you need to call and find out what the amount was you owed if they didnt send you a statement, but they usually do
Also, dont forget your CCB rate (if you used childcare) also comes into consideration of the monies owed, so if you under estimated then you could have repaid the difference in percentage given to you, this happened to me once).

if u did over estermate and u oi them money they just takeit out of the 600 per child n if that doesnt cover it then ull get a debt bt the 600 per child would cover most of it, if u get wat i mean

Okay so I just spoke to someone from Centrelink and now I am totally confused. He told me that I would be getting $3622 back from them with my tax refund. I just can't figure it out.
Don't get me wrong I am not complaining I am just scared that they will over pay us. I have no idea how they work these things out.
Could they get something like this wrong?

Maybe you didnt underestimate as much as you thought. Also it could be CCB as well as A & B Supplement. How many kids do you have?
ETA ok just saw you had 4 kids, so $690 per child and $380 for the family so that alone comes to almost 3k. HTH

This is why i am terrified of what we will get, (if anything at all) because my DH made more than i estimated. His base salary i estimated perfectly, but with all the overtime he got $10,000 more than that mark :(!! I think we will get a huge bill this year and no refund :(

Pookiesossige thank you.
Bewitched it is very confusing isn't it. I think it's just best for me to wait until my refund goes through.
DH reckons that they wouldn't have said that we were getting back that much if we weren't but I can't be sure just yet.
Kiahskeeper we don't get CCB, so I am not entirely sure what the amount I was quoted will be for, maybe the $690 you mentioned??
