my lil sister atm is in hospital with high blood presure so im guessing it could turn in to pre-eclampsia... shes had, numbness tingling, swallom ankles toes wrists, and shes just started getting black dots n going a lil bit blind for a couple mins at a time.....

she went for her 36wks app at the hospital and now she is waiting in a room waiting for the results.... wat kinda blood test would they do??? they are also keeping an eye on her blood pressure....

she has nothing ready for bub... lol... the room is ful but nothin is set up yet, no bags packed etc..... have started wasing wondersuits etc...

wat happens if her blood presure doesnt go down, will they just induce her now or wait i have no idea im kinda worried???

My friend just had a healthy baby after being induced at 37 weeks because of pre ec.

Good luck, I'm sure everything will be fine.

I had pre-eclampsia with both my bubbas. Dr scheduled a c-section for the first, as a first time mum, he was worried about risking the extra stress of an induced labour. DD decided to come before that happened (by BP wasn't super high yet) and i had a 'trial labour'. My BP was perfect the whole time & a lovely 7hrs later DD arrived - perfect. She needed to be under the heat lamps for a few days, but no humidicrib. I was 36+4 when she was born. DS was induced (my OB knew by then how i felt about c-sections, and my previous birth was a good indicator that we hoped for a quick birth) I was given steroids 24hrs beforehand, but DS still needed the humidicrib to help with breathing for 3 days. He was also blue as the placenta was starting to fail, but was breathing within minutes of being born.

Being a first time mum - they may want to do a c-section soon, esp if bubs heart rate is low, or he/she is not very active. DS wasn't moving much, which is one of the reasons they wanted him out. You can probably expect a smaller baby, that might need a little help breathing/keeping warm, but the special care nurseries are great. :hugs: Hope it all goes smoothly.

ETA: blood tests......they will probably test her liver & kidney function, pre-eclampsia will deteriorate these. My BP wasn't that high with DS, but my liver was in a shocking state, he had to be born to help that. They will probably moniter these over a few days, i was having blood tests every 2-3days to check on them. The drs will be looking for the optimum balance of a closer to term baby, without doing permanent damage to mums organs. Mine all bounced back to normal! They will probably test for protein in her urine too.

Oh I feel for her. I went for a checkup at 32 weeks, feeling fine and got told to go home and go to bed and not get out (I actually finished off some sewing for myself first!) and they booked me into hospital. I spent two weeks bed rest (only allowed out of bed once a day for a shower) and was on medication. My BP continued to climb despite all this and I was induced at 34 weeks - the midwife had the theatre ready for a c section but Dr. wanted to see how I went my BP went horribly high during labour but I was glad I got through it.

I can't recall a lot of the labour as I was drugged out, but I did have a fetal heart monitor on, then an eipdural, catheter, oxygen tube up my nose - gee I must have been a sight! I had high forceps delivery. 6 hour labour. Bub was a decent size about 6lb 3oz (I forget it in grams!) but after 24 hours developed hylands membrane disease and she had to be moved to another hospital. To be honest I was sick I hardly cared. I was left in ICU for 48 hours. But this was a long time ago.

I had most of my bub stuff ready, but that should be the least of her worries - others can get the necessities for her. Babies don't want for much in the early days!! With those symptoms they will sure put her into hospital and bed rest. She is will be in the best place and medication should help her. Her bub won't be too early even if they only wait a week.

i had my ds1 with 34 weeks (PE), i got a em c/s as there was not time to induce me (i also had a general ana.) - if she is in hospital they should know what they're doing, so don't worry too much...

good luck to your sister and bub
