Does anyone know any natural heartburn remedies?
I cannot take any of the over the counter medications because of the medication I'm on but my heartburn is driving me insane.
Milk helps while I sip it but only literally whilst I'm sipping.... so thats no cure :S
Any suggestions would be much appreciated thanks!

I drink spearamint milk it helps quite a bit and takes away the yucky taste the only thing is it has alot of sugar:thumbsdown: but im sure a little bit will be ok.Also minty things are good cause they have peppermint in it wich helps with the burning.

I'd actually heard that peppermint tea is meant to help it but not keen on it and was only told this by one person prior so put off trying it.
thanks for that might have to actually give it a try now lol
Will avoid the spearmint milk tho... not risking my blood sugar levels while they're deciding if I need insulin or not lol
Depends what you mean by natural I suppose ...
A couple of teaspoons of bicarbonate of soda, mixed in with water really helps. It's absolutely feral but it does neutralise the stomach acid.
Also, eating a piece of dry bread is meant to help. I personally couldn't face the prospect when in the throes of a massive gastric attack but that's just me :o
Good luck :)

I wouldnt eat bread it actually makes indigetstion worst:thumbsdown:
I go for chocolate coated peppermint (you know - peppermint crisps and what are those round green foil covered ones? the same as coconut roughs) - not sure if it really helps, but chocolate is a remedy for everything in my house LOL.
No seriously - I also find positioning is really important. Last pregnancy, the lady who taught me yoga gave me some helpful advice on lifting my ribcage up. I'm only 5foot, so as the baby gets bigger, I get cramped.
I think the idea is that the bread provides the excess acid something to work on (instead of the oesophagus). It sounds good in theory but in practice ... :barf:
I haven't tried this, but it occurs to me that a low-acid smoothie might help. Whizzing up some banana (or low fat, sugar free ice cream) and milk might emulate the thick soothing and protecting layer that products like Gaviscon provide.

I have used the bi-carb. It does taste revolting, but what I do is drink it then lay down, then when I feel a burp coming on, I sit up and DH pats my back (:o yes, he burps me) and I do this massive massive burp, and it totally settles my stomach. Gross. But it works.
My MW (who is extremely homeopathically minded) suggested drinking pineapple juice  I said "wouldn't the acid make it worse?" but she said it does work for some people, in a "like cures like" kind of way.

Ive heard about the bicarb thing but i used either "eno" or milk as my sister used this through her pg & it worked a treat for both of us !
The bicarb thing definitely works. As the_queen said, it does often have the side effect of gas.
This in itself can also be uncomfortable - if you experience that discomfort, and haven't got someone around to burp you, sit in a hot bath. It tends to make the wind pass out the other end but the relief is fairly swift.

A naturopath suggested drinking Grapefruit juice. I personally didn't but know of others who had success with this.
